Shangri-La Group has appointed Hakan Ozel as Vice President, Operations, with responsibility for three of its flagship European hotels: Shangri-La The Shard, London; Shangri-La Paris; and Shangri-La Bosphorus, Istanbul. The move places one of the group’s long-serving operators in charge of its most high-profile properties outside Asia.

Ozel brings more than 28 years of international hospitality experience, over two decades of it with Shangri-La Group. He most recently served as Vice President, Operations for the Middle East and General Manager of Shangri-La Dubai, where he is credited with strengthening the hotel’s market positioning, operational performance and service reputation. His career also includes senior leadership roles across Asia and the Middle East.

My focus will be on building on the strengths of our teams, creating truly memorable guest experiences and welcoming more guests into our Shangri-La Circle community,” said Hakan Ozel.

In the new role, Ozel will focus on operational excellence, commercial performance and the group’s guest experience across the three cities.

The Shangri-La brand operates more than 90 hotels and resorts across Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Europe and North America.
