Supa San Bandra Brings a New Spin to Karaoke Nights in Mumbai
/The music-led Japanese izakaya invites guests to take the mic every Thursday, pairing community-led karaoke with Japanese-inspired food, cocktails and an evening shaped by music.
At Supa San Bandra West, music is more than a backdrop to dining; it is at the heart of the experience. Bringing the spirit of Japanese karaoke culture to Bandra, the music-led Japanese izakaya by Aditya Birla New Age Hospitality (ABNAH) invites guests to step behind the microphone every Thursday for an evening of singing, shared moments and good company.
Located on the 14th floor of Mansionz One on Linking Road, Supa San Bandra explores Japan through its rich musical culture, drawing inspiration from listening bars, vinyl cafés, neighbourhood izakayas, record stores and the after-hours energy of Shinjuku. Its approach to hospitality brings together food, drinks, design and music to create a space that encourages guests to linger, discover and participate.
At the centre of its karaoke experience is a dedicated private karaoke room that transforms every Thursday into an open, community-led singing session. Guests can put in their song requests, grab a drink and wait for their turn behind the microphone, making the evening as much about discovering new voices and sharing favourite tracks as it is about singing along. The room is also available for private celebrations and events, offering groups an opportunity to make the experience their own.
The karaoke experience is complemented by Supa San’s extensive Japanese-inspired menu, featuring over 100+ dishes across The Counter, The Grill and The Pot, with almost 50% of the menu dedicated to vegetarian preparations. From small plates designed for sharing to sushi, tempura and robata-grilled dishes, the menu encourages guests to explore different flavours while settling into the evening.
The beverage programme, NOW PLAYING, carries the restaurant’s music-first philosophy into its cocktail menu, conceived like a curated record collection. Divided into five sections, Low Volume, The Hits, Covers, Deep Cuts and Full Volume, the menu moves from lighter serves to more spirit-forward cocktails, allowing guests to find a drink that matches their mood. Signatures such as PONPONPON, a Japanese-inspired take on the Jungle Bird featuring white miso, pineapple and toasted coconut, and SPARKLE, combining gin with yuzu kosho and salt, bring together familiar cocktail formats and distinctive Japanese ingredients. For those seeking alcohol-free options, Instrumentals offers a dedicated zero-proof selection.
Beyond karaoke, music is woven into the restaurant’s design and programming. The Sound Archive, created in collaboration with Roland, showcases iconic synthesizers, drum machines, grooveboxes and guitar pedals, celebrating the instruments that have shaped music across genres. The Culture Shelf brings together vinyl records, Japanese-inspired artefacts, curated artwork and exclusive Supa San merchandise, extending the restaurant’s music-led identity into its physical surroundings.
Designed by Patch Design Studio, the 110-seater space offers a mix of communal dining, intimate seating and an open-to-sky alfresco section with a retractable roof. As the day transitions into evening, relaxed playlists give way to resident DJs, guest performances and music-led programming, with weekends bringing a more energetic social atmosphere.
At Supa San Bandra, Thursday karaoke offers another way to experience the Japanese izakaya beyond the table, bringing people together through music, familiar favourites and the simple joy of singing along.
