/In a landmark achievement, the Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology & Applied Nutrition (IHM Ranchi) has been accorded in-principle approval as a Host Institute (HI) under the MSME Innovative Scheme (Incubation Component) by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India. The approval was granted during the 10th Project Monitoring and Advisory Committee (PMAC) in New Delhi. This recognition establishes IHM Ranchi as a dynamic hub of innovation, startup incubation, and entrepreneurship development, particularly in hospitality and allied sectors. With this recognition, IHM Ranchi is now empowered to identify, nurture, and incubate innovative ideas, providing structured mentorship and facilitating access to financial assistance under the MSME framework. The initiative is poised to create a significant impact by supporting students, aspiring entrepreneurs, and grassroots stakeholders, especially Self-Help Groups (SHGs), enabling them to transform ideas into sustainable and scalable enterprises.
This milestone is deeply rooted in the institute's strong academic philosophy, which emphasizes applied learning, analytical rigor, and industry-oriented problem-solving. The institution's academic framework encourages students to develop comprehensive operational and financial blueprints for hospitality ventures, integrating key managerial aspects such as costing, inventory systems, and performance analytics. In the recently concluded practical examinations, third-year students, as part of their Capstone Project, developed detailed business blueprints for various hospitality formats including Specialty Restaurants, Coffee Shops, Cafés, and Bars, showcasing their managerial competence and analytical capabilities. The project was completed under the able guidance of senior faculty member and was evaluated by a panel comprising both internal and external examiners from the industry, who highly appreciated the holistic and experiential learning approach demonstrated by the students. This robust foundation seamlessly complements the institute’s new role as an incubation center and strengthens its ability to nurture innovation and entrepreneurship.
