RumBabaa Opens in Andheri: A New All-Day Coffee & Vinyl-Led Space in Mumbai
/Mumbai, April 2026: Mumbai’s ever-evolving café culture has a new addition - one that doesn’t try to compete for attention, but quietly earns it. RumBabaa, an all-day coffee and vinyl-led space, opened its doors in Andheri on 26th April, bringing together specialty coffee, thoughtful food, desserts, music, and a sense of unhurried living.
At its heart, RumBabaa is built around a simple idea: good coffee, good music, and time well spent. It’s the kind of place you walk into for a quick coffee and end up staying much longer. Where a song catches your attention, a second cup feels like the right decision, and conversations stretch without you noticing the time.
If RumBabaa were a person, it would be thoughtful, playful, and quietly cultured; someone who appreciates great coffee, has an instinct for good music, and knows how to enjoy the slower moments of the day. That personality flows through the space, shaping everything from the experience to the energy in the room.
Music takes on a more intentional role at RumBabaa, with a vinyl set-up at the heart of the space - where records play through the day, setting the tone and energy of the room. Mornings feel calm and intentional, afternoons stretch a little longer, and as the space evolves, evenings will gently transition into wine-led moments, allowing guests to move seamlessly from coffee to clink.
The design follows the same philosophy. Inspired by Japanese minimalism, the space is warm, uncluttered, and quietly inviting. Natural materials, soft lighting, and considered details come together to create an environment that feels both relaxed and intentional; a place that allows people to pause, even within the pace of the city.
The name RumBabaa is inspired by the classic dessert - a sponge cake traditionally soaked in rum and often paired with coffee. The warmth and familiarity of the dessert felt instinctively aligned with the space. Over time, the name evolved to represent something more - a feeling that is comforting, playful, and gently indulgent, much like the experience RumBabaa is designed to offer.
The menu reflects a careful balance of mindful and indulgent. Across both food and beverages, the focus is on using thoughtful, high-quality ingredients and natural alternatives of sugar wherever possible, without compromising on flavour or experience. Mornings can begin with nourishing bowls like the Longevity Bowl, layered with overnight oats, almond milk, apple, cinnamon, and millet granola, or the Kodo Power Bowl with Greek yogurt, banana, cashew butter, and blueberry chia jam. There’s also a strong breakfast offering with dishes like the Rumbabaa Eggs with garlic lemon yogurt and beet harissa, the bold Krapow Omelette, and a comforting Tiramisu French Toast that leans into dessert-like indulgence.
As the day unfolds, the menu moves into more flavour-forward plates - from the crisp, textural Kataifi Prawns to globally inspired dishes like Bajra Tacos with jackfruit, the comforting Peruvian Chicken Pot Pie, and the vibrant K.O.C.O bowl with grains, citrus, and miso carrot. The Asian-led offerings bring in a distinct edge, extending into a thoughtful sushi selection alongside plates like the playful Kim-Bahp Cone, Aburi Salmon Oshi, and the deeply satisfying Pushover Lamb with anise-spiced rice.
The pizza programme leans into bold, familiar flavours done right - from the Scamorza Affumicata with smoked mozzarella and balsamic glaze to the earthy Bianca Trifolata layered with mushrooms and parmesan cream. There’s also a more flavour-forward edge with options like the Krapao Nero, bringing in Thai basil notes, and the indulgent Calabrian pizza.
Desserts, much like the space, are both comforting and quietly indulgent, from the Ambe Turmeric Crème Brûlée with white chocolate chantilly to an evolving selection of tea cakes, tarts, and cold desserts from the ‘Take Me Home’ counter. The experience also extends into playful dessert-led pairings like Affogatos with salted caramel, French vanilla, or chocolate ice cream, designed to feel nostalgic yet elevated.
On the beverage side, the coffee programme is expansive yet thoughtfully curated, striking a balance between classic brews and more expressive, flavour-led creations. Signature drinks like the Dark Velvet Espresso Cold Coffee, Salted Caramel Espresso Oat Latte, and the Iced Black Sesame Latte (charcoal version) offer a playful take on everyday coffee, alongside refreshing options like the Mango Matcha with dehydrated mango.
For those looking to explore beyond the usual, the menu features a wide range of cold brews - from Yuzu Cold Brew to more playful options like Lychee and Watermelon Cold Brew. Dessert-style beverages like the Brown Butter Caramel Latte, Almond Butter Date Latte, and Obsidian Mocha further blur the line between indulgence and ritual.
The experience also extends to a dedicated slow bar, offering pour-over formats like V60 brews and fresh orange pour-overs, alongside a robust espresso programme featuring everything from cortados and flat whites to dirty lattes and mocha cortados. For matcha lovers, there’s an equally playful lineup with options like Blueberry Oats Matcha, Dirty Matcha, and Raspberry Matcha, making the beverage menu as much about discovery as it is about comfort.
RumBabaa is brought together by a diverse founding team, each contributing a distinct perspective to the space. Sandeep G. Ailsinghani, Ayesha Dodeja, Mohitt Maalik, and Ankkitha Maithy form the core founding team, with Ankit Anand and Aditi Malikk curating the overall experience and brand direction. The team brings together strengths across hospitality, wellness, operations, and creative storytelling - shaping RumBabaa into a space that feels both intuitive and thoughtfully layered.
Speaking about the vision behind the space, Aditi Malikk shares,
“Rumbabaa is a space that feels deeply personal to us. The idea was never to create just another café, but to build a place where people could pause, even if just for a little while. We’ve always believed that living mindfully shouldn’t mean giving up the small pleasures, a good cup of coffee, thoughtful sound playing in the background, a dessert you don’t feel guilty about, or a conversation that lingers.”
Adding to this, Ankit Anand says,
“With RumBabaa, we wanted to create something that feels warm, thoughtful, and effortless; a space where every element, from the coffee to the food to the music, comes together naturally. It’s a place people return to, not out of habit, but because it simply feels right.”
RumBabaa opens its first chapter with what it loves most - coffee, desserts, music, and comforting food. More than that, it offers a feeling: the comfort of familiarity, the joy of discovery, and the kind of moments that don’t need to be planned.
Because sometimes, the best parts of the day simply find you.
