The Serai Resorts Puts Birdlife in Focus for World Wildlife Week

For World Wildlife Week, The Serai Resorts is encouraging guests to look beyond headline sightings, with naturalist-led birding and nature experiences at its resorts in Chikmagalur, Bandipur and Kabini.

In the forests and coffee landscapes of Chikmagalur, more than 400 bird species have been recorded across the region. The Serai Resorts, Chikmagalur offers guided nature trails, and early morning walks can reveal drongos, parakeets, minivets, bee-eaters and golden orioles.

Near Bandipur National Park, the landscape is home to more than 350 bird species, and over 120 have been recorded within the grounds of The Serai Resorts, Bandipur. Naturalists lead bird trails and nature walks there. The resort stresses that sightings are not orchestrated: wild dogs occasionally pass through the property, elephants approach the fence to graze during the monsoon, and herds of spotted deer gather in the grounds at night. It also reduces plastic use, supports the Forest Department during the summer forest-fire season, and maintains bird baths and feeders.

On the Kabini backwaters, migratory birds arrive with the changing seasons. Boat safaris from The Serai Resorts, Kabini offer sightings of waterbirds, elephants, gaurs and dholes along the river.

Across its properties, the group asks guests to maintain silence, avoid feeding or attracting animals, follow the guidance of naturalists and forest officials, and stay conscious of their impact on the habitat.
