Ascott India achieves 100% GSTC certification across its operational portfolio
/All seven properties meet global sustainability standards, marking a key milestone in responsible hospitality.
Ascott India has achieved full Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) certification across its operational portfolio, aligning all its properties with internationally recognised sustainability standards.
Significance in the Indian context
This achievement is notable in the Indian context, where only a limited number of hotels hold this international certification. It reflects the adoption of audited sustainability practices across Ascott India’s properties.
Journey to certification
The milestone comes four years after Somerset Greenways Chennai became the first Ascott property globally to earn GSTC certification, marking the second major sustainability landmark for the India cluster. With this, all seven Ascott India properties have now met the GSTC’s stringent criteria covering sustainable management, socio-economic, cultural, and environmental impacts.
Alignment with global strategy
This full-portfolio certification aligns with Ascott’s global CLI 2028 sustainability roadmap, under which the group aims for all managed and branded properties worldwide to achieve GSTC certification where possible. It further strengthens Ascott India’s appeal to ESG-conscious corporate clients and travellers seeking verified responsible hospitality.
Portfolio overview
Ascott India currently operates seven properties across key markets, all of which are now GSTC certified, including Citadines OMR Chennai, Citadines Arpora Nagoa Goa, Oakwood Residences Kapil Hyderabad, Citadines Paras Square Gurugram, Oakwood Residence Naylor Road Pune and Oakwood Residence Whitefield Bangalore.
Leadership perspective
“This milestone reflects the collective commitment of Team Ascott India to go beyond aspirations and truly integrate sustainability into daily operations. We remain focused on delivering exceptional guest experiences while contributing responsibly to the destinations we operate in,” said Mansur Ahmed, The Cluster Sustainability Champion of Ascott India
