Titled ‘A Journey to Find Joy’, the soul-stirring evening brought together members for an intimate and emotionally resonant experience, inviting them to reflect on the true meaning of Khushiyaan.

Set against the backdrop of Lutyens’s Delhi, the evening unfolded as a deeply immersive journey into human experience marked by Maheshwari’s signature blend of humour and emotional depth. His narratives, layered with wit and vulnerability, evoked moments of laughter, nostalgia and introspection in equal measure. The experience was elevated by a prelude of cocktails and canapés, culminating in a curated bowl meal experience.

Held at Longchamp and anchored in the philosophy of Timeless Weddings, the panel featured Dr. Anmol Ahluwalia, Area Director-Operations and General Manager, Taj Mahal, New Delhi; Vandana Mohan, Founder of The Wedding Design Company; couturier Anju Modi; Shilpa Sharma, Founder of Breakaway; and was moderated by Parthip Thyagarajan, Co-Founder and CEO of WeddingSutra. 

The conversation centred on three key shifts shaping luxury weddings in India – personalisation over scale, culinary experience as part of the celebration itself and, legacy as a marker of timelessness. Adding a unique and immersive touch to the evening, guests were invited to a ‘Kitchen Party’—an afternoon tea curation offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the hotel’s culinary world, pairing Indian bites with classic English tea traditions. Set amidst stunning views, the experience featured a live showcase of the hotel’s signature restaurants. House of Ming presented classics including Golden Fried Prawns, Tofu Pancake, Edamame and Cheese Dim Sum, and Mapo Tofu with Jasmine Rice. Varq showcased regional and seasonal favourites such as Panchdhaan Khichda, Varqui Khumb, Guntoor Chikki Paneer with Set Dosa, and Safeeda Gosht Biryani. Rick’s complemented the experience with its signature bar, serving a selection of craft cocktails and mocktails. The experience concluded with an indulgent dessert trolley and chocolate cart, featuring creations such as Quinoa and Orange Kheer, Rasgulla with Coffee Tiramisu, and artisanal chocolate selections.

The culinary team led by women associates presented a gastronomic spread of global flavours such as poached scallops & cranberry caviar, citrus crab, mandarin & arugula, fresh burrata, charred avocado, caramelized melon, assorted cheese boards; a flying buffet with butter chilly oyster prawns with street style noodles, sukkah prawns with mini Malabar paratha, gnocchi with confit duck leg & mandarin jus, dessert trolleys and spirited concoctions curated by lady mixologists.

DESIGN Taj Mahal, New Delhi unveils the new avatar of its dining destination - Machan

The iconic Taj Mahal, New Delhi  has unveiled the new avatar of the Capital’s original and much-loved dining destination Machan.

The hotel also reopened to an elegant new lobby and the Emperor Lounge after a stylish makeover. Taj Mahal, New Delhi has been under extensive renovation since July 2019, reinventing itself to offer the essence of timelessness and heritage of Lutyens’ Delhi, coupled with contemporary flair and impeccable service the hotel has been renowned for.

The next phase of the transformation will include the redesigned rooms and The Chambers – expected to be completed by end of the year. Machan, the international dining destination has been a defining part of the city’s culinary landscape for many decades. 

Machan’s décor is based on Indian wildlife, reminiscent of the days where ‘Machans’, or raised platforms, were built as look-out and observation posts. The redesigned Machan will present a gastronomical confluence of the old and the new with an eclectic menu.
