Ahuja Residences Puts People, AI and Digital Transformation Under One Roof, and One Leader
/At a time when most hospitality companies are still deciding who should own their technology agenda, Ahuja Residences has made a bold and telling choice: CHRO Sonal Pathak.
In an expanded mandate, the group has brought IT and Digital Transformation alongside People under Sonal's leadership. A move that places the company's most human function at the heart of its most ambitious one: technology.
For a group scaling rapidly across Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Pune (560+ units, 2,500+ rooms and 1,000+ employees) the shift is less about job titles and more about intent. The focus is moving beyond simply digitising processes to using technology and AI to solve real business challenges: enhancing guest experiences, improving productivity, simplifying work for teams, and enabling sharper, data-led decisions.
For Sonal, the mandate is a natural evolution of a conviction she has held throughout her two decades across hospitality, entertainment and consulting.
“The future is not about choosing between technology and the human touch,” she says. “It is about using technology to create more time and space for meaningful human intervention.”
That philosophy shows up in how the group is approaching transformation: automating routine work so teams have more room for judgement, fairness and guest care; building real-time, data-led visibility so decisions are sharper; and treating culture as something that is earned through behaviour and fairness, not posters. Her earlier words on transformation could serve as the group's operating manual: “Change is not about frameworks. It's about trust and communication. And you can't disrupt without respecting what already exists.”
The broader signal for the industry is just as clear: the modern CHRO is no longer only the keeper of people practices. From process owner to business partner, from HR dashboards to digital transformation roadmaps: she is increasingly the architect of how a modern organisation works, adapts and grows.
At Ahuja Residences, that future has already begun.
