ITDC Welcomes Ms. Mugdha Sinha, IAS as New Managing Director

New Delhi, May 2025: India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), the public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Tourism, proudly announces the appointment of Ms. Mugdha Sinha, IAS (1999 batch Rajasthan cadre) as its new Managing Director.

A senior bureaucrat, with rank of Additional Secretary, known for her visionary & dynamic leadership, Ms. Sinha brings over two decades of vast experience across governance and administration. Her previous impactful role as Director General of Tourism at the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, saw her play a pivotal role in shaping National tourism policies, particularly in area of innovation and big data. She also served as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Culture, where she led the GLAM division overseeing significant cultural and tourism initiatives. Her work focused on promoting India’s heritage while integrating it with tourism development efforts; a valuable asset as she now leads ITDC’s transformation journey.

In her new role, she will oversee ITDC’s diverse verticals, including The Ashok Group of Hotels, Ashok Events, Ashok Travels & Tours, Ashok Institute of Hospitality & Tourism Management (AIH&TM), Ashok International Trade (Duty free shops), Catering units and Ashok Consultancy & engineering Services.

Commenting on her appointment, Ms. Sinha said, “It is a privilege to join ITDC. My focus will be on modernising operations, enhancing the tourism and hospitality experience, and building a globally competitive brand rooted in India’s rich cultural heritage.”

Shri Rajesh Rana Takes Charge as Director (Commercial & Marketing), ITDC

March 2025, New Delhi: Shri Rajesh Rana has been appointed as the Director (Commercial & Marketing) of India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), a public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. He took charge of the office in his new role on March 17, and will serve as a member of the Board of Directors.

With a career spanning over 26 years in the hospitality industry, Shri Rana brings expertise in catering, tourism, marketing, and business operations. Shri Rana began his career as a Management Trainee with the Jaypee Group of Hotels before moving to THDC India Limited, a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU). In 2005, he joined IRCTC, where he played a pivotal role in shaping its hospitality and tourism initiatives.

During his 19-year tenure at IRCTC, he held key positions across Regional, Zonal, and Corporate Offices, progressively rising through the ranks as Deputy General Manager, Joint General Manager, Additional General Manager, and General Manager. His diverse expertise spans catering, tourism, operations, administration, marketing, product development, and management.

Shri Rana has demonstrated strong strategic leadership and risk management capabilities, contributing significantly to business growth in the hospitality, tourism, and railway catering sectors. Prior to assuming the role of Director (Commercial & Marketing) at ITDC, he served as General Manager at IRCTC's Corporate Office in New Delhi, where he also held the critical responsibility of Chief Risk Officer (CRO). A distinguished alumnus of the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Lucknow, he also holds an MBA in Marketing.

M.R. Synrem joins as the Managing Director, ITDC

Sh. M.R. Synrem, IAS officer of 2002 Batch, Assam-Meghalaya Cadre has joined as the Managing Director of India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) in addition to his existing role as Joint Secretary and Additional Director General, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.

During his career so far, Sh. Synrem served as Secretary in the Health & Family Welfare Department, Mission Director of the Meghalaya State National Health Mission and CEO of Megha Health Insurance Scheme in Meghalaya.

In a span of over two decades, he has demonstrated adept administrative expertise in spearheading the projects, schemes and initiatives in the Information Technology & Communications Department, the Transport Department, the Urban Affairs Department, the Commerce & Industries Department etc in his parent cadre.
