New Delhi, November 2022: Lemon Tree Hotels announced its latest signing–Lemon Tree Hotel, Tezpur, Assam. The property is expected to be operational by March 2025 and shall be managed by Carnation Hotels Private Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary and the management arm of Lemon Tree Hotels Limited.

Pradipt Sinha, Director of Food and Beverage kick started the spectacular show of Cake Mixing by narrating fables and history around the Cake Mixing ceremony. He informed that the activity marks the arrival of harvest season and onset of Christmas festivities.
“In olden times, a lot of dry fruits and nuts were harvested during the autumn season and were used in the preparation of traditional Christmas fruit cakes. They used to store the mix for the coming year with a hope of another fulfilling and abundant year. Later, this ceremony became a family affair where everyone got together and soaked the harvested fruits in wine or rum which are further dried and stored.” he shared.
Now it was time for the most awaited moment of evening – The Cake Mixing ceremony. Amidst the refreshing autumn breeze, the alfresco area of ChaoBella was decked up with twinkling lights, Santa’s hut and shining props, ushering the spirit of festivities. However, the star of the show was the mesmerizing assortment of dry fruits such as cashews, prunes, pistachios, almonds, figs, apricots, raisins, nuts, black current etc. in a boat shaped cauldron. The hotel patrons and team members rolled on their sleeves and wore the aprons to participate in a hearty mixing of the dry fruits with spices and spirits. The live music, varieties of Christmas bakes, Sangrias and Mulled Wine added to the charm of the ceremony.
Post the ceremony, the mixture was put into airtight container so that it soaks up the spirits and spices. The same mix would be used by the Chefs to bake array of goodies such as Plum Pudding, Plum Cake Dandee cake, Mince pie, Christollen, Christmas cookies which will be available at French Heart - patisserie of the hotel. Guests will also have option to customize delectable Christmas hampers for gifting and indulgence.

Offerings on the menu comprise Slayin’ Soups; Issa Green Wave (Salads); Savage Schnacks; LIT Burgonomy; (Sand)’ Wiches on Fleek; New York-style Pizzas; and live Josper Grills - a signature offering of the brand. Aangan meaning courtyard in English, is referred to as a warm and welcoming dining space where food is shared and enjoyed with family and friends. Complete with an alfresco terrace, Aangan majestically overlooks the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Oman. Taking inspiration from Oman’s heritage and India’s homeland, soaring ceilings and artistic archways create a magnificent sense of place. Guests enter the dining area through the grand double doors flanked with bold blue drapes, inviting diners to enter another world and enjoy the heartfelt hospitality Shangri-La is renowned for.
The extensive menu designed to share; allows diners to mix and match dishes to tease and tantalise the palate. Chef Ghai has taken a contemporary approach to traditional Indian cuisine and has created dishes that burst with flavour. Dishes include an Aloo Tikki, one of the most well-known street food dishes in India and set to be a favourite on the menu. The crispy potato cake with sweet and tangy tamarind, lentils and fresh mint is balanced with honey yoghurt to create a perfect combination of sweet and sour flavours. Ghai’s signature batter fried crunchy Masala Prawns get their spice from the Kashmiri chili. Cooked with sesame, peanut and tamarind, the perfectly cooked prawns are finished with a light dusting of desiccated coconut.
Accompanied by a twist on a traditional chokha, the Rogan Josh Lamb Shank dish is not to be missed. Slow cooked for eight hours until the meat is tender, the hearty dish is accompanied by a sauteed onion base, green and Kashmiri chili, cumin, coriander, and a touch of ginger. A smooth, velvety sauce is the perfect accompaniment to the rich and tender lamb.
Meanwhile the vegetarian Dhokla is crunchy on the outside with a soft cake like interior that is peppered with fresh apple and tempered baby heritage beetroot. To finish, a sweet, fresh Mango cheesecake is finished with green pistachio and a little kick of pink peppercorns to perfectly balance sweet and savoury flavours.
To complement the dishes, an extensive beverage list has been carefully curated with wines hailing from old and new world vineyards. Expertly crafted cocktails include the signature Gin & Tonic Pushpanjali, meaning a handful of flowers in English. Meanwhile, the whiskey-based cocktail Somras packs a punch and is a cross between a Manhattan and an old fashioned. The drink is inspired by the Sanskrit culture and was believed to have been consumed as a potion by the Hindu gods to remain immortal and invincible.

National, October 2022: Ardbeg is soon to debut in India a limited edition expression from its revered prestige range. The fourth bottling of its permanent 19-year-old expression, Ardbeg Traigh Bhan (pronounced tri-van) will be made available in the country exclusively via Duty Free retail outlets in Mumbai and Delhi airports. Bringing the strictly limited edition launch to India is Ardbeg’s first step in fulfilling the growing demand of its prestige offerings in the country.
Produced in small batches and released year-on-year, Ardbeg Traigh Bhan 19 Years Old Batch 4 is an exceptionally rare and ever-changing whisky, drawing its inspiration from Islay’s Traigh Bhan beach, known locally as the Singing Sands. Matured with a higher proportion of Oloroso Sherry casks, Batch Four is subtly different to the previous releases of Traigh Bhan, taking on more flavours of chocolate and raisin, alongside a distinctive mentholic character.
This sublime dram is the epitome of an aged Ardbeg. On the nose, rising aromas of herbal pine and fennel flow into sharp notes of citrusy lime sorbet and medicinal lozenge. On the palate, an intense wave of wood smoke leaves ripples of decadent dark chocolate and ground coffee in its wake. Sweeter notes of lemon curd and peanut brittle cut through the swell to reveal delicate hints of creamy raisin fudge and hazelnut. Finally, menthol, fresh lemongrass, aniseed, clove and white pepper emerge from rich, smoky depths.
The taste profile isn’t the only thing that changes year-on-year. Each Traigh Bhan whisky carries its own unique batch code, batch symbol and signature from one of the Distillery’s famous faces – this year it’s Colin Gordon, the Distillery Manager.

Only BLU, the newest restaurant in the Maldives, invites diners on an unforgettable culinary journey beneath the ocean. Launched recently, Only BLU is one of the most sought-after outlets in the destination. Surrounded by exotic blue hues and a colourful flow of marine life, this deep-sea dining experience is a unique way of connecting with nature and with loved ones.
The restaurant is accessed through a wooden jetty between the two island resorts, OBLU SELECT Lobigili and OBLU XPERIENCE Ailafushi. As guests descend 6.8 meters below sea level, they pass by an open kitchen showcasing the chefs’ artistry in an inviting display and are welcomed with canapes and sparkling wine.
There is a distinctly ‘only blue’ vibe with colours, patterns, and textures all chosen to complement the spectacular ocean vistas. A horseshoe-shaped design ensures every table has its own window view of the coral reef. With a 190 sqm dining space and 46 seats, Only BLU is the largest under ocean restaurant in the Maldives.
While the show-stealer is the mesmerising under ocean setting, the Modern Gourmet Cuisine is just as tempting. Speciality Food Truck Experience
For those looking to step out and relish a carefree meal on the beach, there are two vibrant food trucks - Gaadiya 17 at Lobigili island and The Copper Pot Food Truck at Ailafushi island, which serve grab-and-go style grills.
Gaadiya 17, which opened on 13 June 2022, specializes in certified, farm-raised game meat. On the menu are Angus Striploin and Kobe Tataki steaks, Wild Maldivian Lobster, Lagoon Prawns, and Octopus Legs. The Copper Pot Food Truck is all about fresh Surf & Turf grills.
These aromatic and succulent dishes can be savoured by the ocean, enveloped in starry skies, soft music, and a refreshing breeze.
At OBLU SELECT Lobigili, guests can also dine at Ylang Ylang all-day restaurant and relax at the eye-catching Swing Bar with an infinity pool. Dining options at OBLU XPERIENCE Ailafushi include the Element X Restaurant which serves modern Western, Central Asian, and Far Eastern cuisines and X360 Bar featuring a 1000 sqm infinity pool. La Promenade, opened on 11 June 2022, offers an engaging social scene with a café and wine boutique.
