Marriott International, Inc., today announced it has signed an agreement with Dalands Holding in collaboration with Marjan, the master-developer of freehold properties in Ras Al Khaimah, to bring W Hotels to Al Marjan Island. Slated to open in Q1 2027, W Al Marjan Island is anticipated to mark W Hotels first property in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah bringing bold design, outstanding service and always-on programming. 

Al Marjan Island is Marjan’s flagship archipelago island off the coast of the city set against the picturesque backdrop of the Arabian Peninsula and enclosed by the Yanas and Jais Mountains. From the moment guests step past the W sign, inspired by the Australian flower Waratah, they are on a design-led journey. The copper-clad entry pays homage to subterranean Sydney and its disused railway tunnels, and an illuminated vertical promenade sweeps guests up into Living Room, a vivid blue space that reinvents the conventions of a traditional lobby by turning it into a social hub. Embracing a ‘Future Noir’ theme, Living Room is punctuated by an electric blue circular bar and nest-like seating that reference the Australian Bowerbird, a larrikin of the bird world. W Sydney’s 588 guestrooms, including 162 exceptional suites, draw inspiration from the hotel’s harbourside location and nearby beaches, exuding marine-chic in their nautical white and navy-blue palette and undulating walls that echo the sails of yachts in the marina below. Signed under a franchise agreement with Highgate Portugal, the hotel is expected to open in 2025 offering 149 guest rooms, more than 1,300 m2 of meeting space and multiple restaurants and bars. AlUla Development Company signs agreement with Marriott International to bring Autograph Collection Hotels to AlUla in Saudi Arabia

AlUla Development Company (UDC), fully owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), has signed recently an agreement with Marriott International to open an Autograph Collection property in Saudi Arabia. Expected to open in 2025, the hotel will be located in the heart of downtown AlUla.

The agreement was signed by Naif AlHamdan, Managing Director of UDC, and Sandeep Walia, Chief Operating Officer, Middle East, Marriott International in the Saudi capital city of Riyadh.

Spanning across 22,635 square meters, the Autograph Collection hotel will be situated in central AlUla, adjacent to the AlUla Museum and opposite the Farmer's Market. Plans for the hotel include 250 rooms and suites, and extensive recreational and entertainment offerings including four dining venues, a spa, a swimming pool, a fitness center, a business center, meeting facilities and retail space.

The new-build Crowne Plaza Labuan Bajo will be the IHG’s premium brand third property in Indonesia, and mark IHG’s entry into an exciting new destination as it continues its strategic growth in the country.

Located next to Komodo International Airport and just 15 minutes from the waterfront on the most western tip of Flores Island, the hotel will provide the ideal base for guests to explore the area’s many world-class wonders. These include the spectacular Komodo National Park – anointed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991 – comprising volcanic islands that are home to more than 5,000 rare, giant ‘Komodo Dragons’ lizards.

According to the Central Bureau of Statistics of West Manggarai Regency, the number of hotels in Labuan Bajo increased by 50% between 2016-2018, rising from 64 hotels with 1,030 rooms to 98 hotels with 1,462 rooms, making it one of Indonesia’s highest-growth territories in terms of hotel development.

More recently, the Central Bureau of Statistics of East Nusa Tenggara, the province where Labuan Bajo is located, reported that star hotels in the region have shown a strong growth in demand, with a 36% increase in first quarter of 2023 as compared to 2022.
