Hyatt Announces Global Expansion of Independent Collection Brands with New Hotel Openings and Developments Slated Through 2025

Intentional growth of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, Destination by Hyatt and JdV by Hyatt brands demonstrates Hyatt’s commitment to expanding these brands to key global destinations

the global growth of its independent collection brands, including recent openings and development plans through 2025 across The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, Destination by Hyatt and JdV by Hyatt brands. This growth reinforces Hyatt’s focus on continuing to immerse guests, members and customers into cultures and destinations that matter most to them.

Hyatt’s independent collection brands encompass diverse properties, each true to its destination and offering the modern traveler enriching experiences in new and exciting ways. Whether it’s a luxury hotel in The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand with a rich history, a boutique JdV by Hyatt hotel inspired by its vibrant neighborhood, or an immersive resort retreat within the Destination by Hyatt brand, each hotel delivers one-of-a-kind guest experiences for every occasion.

“With each new hotel opening under Hyatt’s three independent collection brands, we are encouraging unique discovery of the local culture or history of the hotel’s location, truly illustrating the spirit of these three distinct brands,” said Katie Johnson, global brand leader, independent collection, Hyatt. “Learning from our guests, members, and customers is key to Hyatt. Each of these hotels accelerates our efforts to expand our independent collections in markets that reach travelers and surprise locals with captivating experiences.”

The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand believes luxury is defined by experiences. More than a compilation of one-of-a-kind hotels, these properties are a thoughtful curation of stories worth collecting. Whether it’s a modern marvel, a historic gem or a revitalizing retreat, 25 properties worldwide provide thought-provoking environments for guests seeking a sophisticated yet unscripted experience when they travel.

Destination by Hyatt hotels make up a diverse collection of independent hotels, resorts and spacious residences that are individual at heart yet connected by a commitment to embody the true spirit of each location. Formerly known as Destination Hotels, the rebranded collection was recently renamed Destination by Hyatt to reflect its global reach. Each property is purposefully crafted to be a place of discovery through immersive experiences, authentic design and genuine service. In more than 30 locations nationwide, families, groups and couples can connect to both people and place – enjoying a sense of belonging that makes the destination theirs.

Embracing the brand’s original namesake—Joie de Vivre—JdV by Hyatt is all about celebrating the joy of life. The recently rebranded collection of JdV by Hyatt hotels is a vibrant, independent group of hotels that are true reflections of the urban neighborhoods we call home. As champions of diversity and inclusion, each of its 14 hotels offers guests a community for the spirited, the light-hearted, and the young-at-heart.

Hyatt Plans to Utilize Mobile Health Passport, VeriFLY, for Meetings, Events

hyatt.png

Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) today announced plans to explore VeriFLY + Stay, a mobile health passport for the hospitality industry using the VeriFLY app that provides verification of COVID-19 credentials and travel guidelines. This mobile app can facilitate peace of mind for in-person gatherings by providing meeting attendees and colleagues with a seamless option to directly receive and present COVID-19 test results.  Tens of thousands of travelers already have confidently and safely verified their COVID-19 health status with VeriFLY since January 1, 2021.

“Since the onset of the pandemic, we have believed that accessibility to testing and resources would play a critical role in the travel industry’s recovery,” Frank Lavey, senior vice president of Global Operations, Hyatt. “Collaborating with Daon, a leader in identity assurance, to test VeriFLY + Stay for colleagues and meeting attendees furthers our commitment to our guests’ and colleagues’ wellbeing and represents an important step in providing peace of mind to meeting attendees before, during and after an event.”

As part of these exploration efforts, Hyatt will work closely with meeting planners to identify criteria for meeting attendees, which could include presenting a recent negative COVID-19 test. The criteria can then be communicated to attendees in the VeriFLY mobile app prior to arrival so they can fulfill their requirements and complete all necessary forms. Meeting attendees who satisfy a meeting’s requirements will be able to use the app to display a green checkmark for entry into the meeting or event. Daon will not send any personal or individual information to Hyatt or a Hyatt hotel; Hyatt will only receive aggregated and anonymized data from Daon.

“Throughout the pandemic, we have stayed close to our customers to understand what’s most important to them and focus on solutions that meet their needs,” said Steve Enselein, senior vice president of Events, Hyatt. “In listening to our customers, we know attendee safety and wellbeing remain top priorities for meeting planners, and we look forward to exploring VeriFLY + Stay with meeting planners to provide a new resource that assists with event execution.”

As an extension of Hyatt’s Global Care & Cleanliness Commitment, this is one of Hyatt’s latest initiatives to support guests throughout their entire travel journey as Hyatt maintains its focus on prioritizing safety and wellbeing for guests, colleagues and meeting attendees. Hyatt joins a growing number of travel companies, including American Airlines, utilizing this VeriFLY solution to inspire confidence to return to travel by helping travelers manage new requirements in their destination, complete health questionnaires and adhere to guidelines set forth by travel providers. verify is the world’s first widely adopted digital health credential and has more than 300,000 active users in 55 countries across six continents.

Poona Hoteliers Association Premier League 2021 organized by Poona Hoteliers Association - Team Sayaji Pune Scores a Hattrick by Winning the PHAPL .3 Cup

IMG-20210308-WA0032.jpg

To be, or not to be is a famous line from William Shakespeare’s play Hamlet. The Poona Hoteliers Association Executive Committee had to deal with the question of “To do, or not to do the 3rd edition of PHA Premier League in these Covid-19 Pandemic times?”

The PHA (Poona Hoteliers Association) President Mr. Sharan Shetty teamed-up with the Chairman of Organizing Committee - Mr. Amit Sharma along with other Executive Committee members decided to go ahead with the popular cricket event. The PHA Ex-Comm strongly believed that the need for the event to be organized was much more in the current testing pandemic times than earlier.

The event was organized to solidify the solidarity of the PHA community, who had to face challenging times during the pandemic. The event generated overwhelming response seeing active participation from 20 teams. The tournament was played adhering to all the Covid-19 safety protocols in league cum knockout format spanning 3 days (March 1, 2021 – March 3, 2021).

The first two days saw some pulsating cricketing action, wherein teams tried to secure a quarterfinal berth. We saw teams winning matches by a narrow margin of 2 runs, huge margin of 100 runs, a bowler picking up an over hattrick, an opening partnership of 158 runs and many more exciting moments.

In the quarterfinal matches The Ritz Carlton won their match against Fort Jadhavgadh by a comfortable margin of 23 runs. In the 2nd quarterfinal AISSMS team fell short of the target by just 5 runs against defending champion Sayaji. The 3rd quarterfinal was won by Blue Diamond against Conrad by a margin on 11 runs. The pick of the quarterfinals was played between Corinthians & J W Marriot which resulted in a tie. The match was won in Super over by J W Marriott.

The 1st Semifinal was played between The Ritz Carlton and Sayaji wherein Sayaji – Imran put up a all-round performance to see his team through to the finals. In the 2nd Semifinal Taj Blue Diamond team posted a huge total of 111 runs for opposition J W Marriott, who fell short of the target by 25 runs.

The final match between Blue Diamond and Sayaji failed to live up to the big match expectation. Sayaji bowlers backed their Captains fielding decision by restricting the opposition to a modest total of 49 runs. The defending champions Sayaji trampled the target in just 4.4 overs with Captain Madhav leading from the front scoring a quickfire 28 runs. The final man of the match was bagged by Sayaji – Sandesh who setup his team’s win by picking 4 wickets. Team Sayaji created history by lifting the PHAPL championship for 3 consecutive years.

The entire tournament was played with great camaraderie and team spirit. The teams played great competitive cricket on field but above all celebrated the joy of togetherness. The wonderful initiative by PHA Ex-Comm has strengthened the bond between the PHA community and transformed them into a closely knit family woven by the uniting fabric of Cricket.

The popular PHAPL cricket tournament organized by Poona Hoteliers association has grown by leaps and bonds in the last 3 years and would scale greater heights in the coming years. Thanks to Poona Hoteliers Association members and one and all for their unflinching support in making the event a grand success.

We will see you all soon in another edition of PHAPL. Till then, Stay Healthy, Strong and Safe!!!

Ingredient Ideology | Being Friendly with Broccoli By: Dr. Kaviraj Khialani- Celebrity Master Chef.

broccoli intro pic 2.jpg

It is believed that this evergreen and refreshing to look at & nutritious vegetable finds his origin somewhere in the 1500s created by a kale predecessor and much later was cauliflower developed from one of the hundred varieties of Broccoli. While what most of us think is that broccoli came to us much later as compared to cauliflower the white and green duo has been welcomed very well in our kitchens and in our recipes with various cuisines.

Broccoli has been a native to Italy and was found there since the Roman times and since then it moved to various parts of Europe, UK, the Middle-east and Asia since the 1800s. Its uses and adaptations to various cuisines developed ever since and most chefs wanted to have a varied look to their recipes by inviting broccoli to take up suitable space and add its freshness and flavor into the dishes.

While cauliflower remains more popular with us in Indian cooking, it has been one of our all-time favorites in our Indian kitchens with numerous dishes being made from subzis to curries, from Gobi ka Keema to stuffing for parathas.

Broccoli however came in later and its applications have somehow been exposed to us as exotic vegetable being used to make soups, salads, stir-fries, with pasta, as a side dish on main course plates etc.
