We are pleased to announce the signing of an upcoming addition to Minor Hotels’ portfolio in Qatar. NH Collection Doha Oasis Hotel & Beach Club is in the later stages of development and is slated to open in mid-2022. The property will be the first NH Collection property globally with a beach club.

The new 300-key hotel is located in the Ras Abu Abboud area along Doha’s eastern coast, midway between the city center and Hamad International Airport, and has a rich history. The previous Oasis Hotel, from where the new property takes its name, was in the same location and was Doha’s first-ever hotel when it opened in the 1950s.

Accommodation options will include a mix of guest rooms and over 50 suites, the largest being the Royal Duplex Suite with 332 sqm of luxurious space. The F&B offering will be very strong, with six restaurants and bars, including two specialty restaurants and a rooftop bar. New Opening | Royal Orchid Hotels opens a wilderness resort in Kabini

With the number of owned and managed hotels crossing 70, Chander Baljee, CMD, ROHL says the target is to build a portfolio of 100 hotels and minimum 6,500 rooms by the end of FY 2022-23.

ROHL has added one more boutique resort property to their portfolio recently with the opening of Re;Gen:Ta Kabini Springs Resort on the Kerala-Karnataka border at HD Kote. The 20-room wilderness resort was an operational independent hotel which joined the ROHL portfolio after comprehensive renovation.

“The uniqueness about the Kabini property is that it is the only resort inside the wildlife park. All other hotels and resorts are outside the park,” said Chander Baljee, CMD, ROHL, while sharing the significance of the new property. “Everything is brand new apart from the old structure,” he said, explaining the kind of renovation that the property has undergone since the owner decided to join the ROHL portfolio.

Spread over 10 acre of land, the resort offers a lot of free space for the guests as rooms are built in five blocks with four rooms each. “It has a very peaceful location abutting a river,” Baljee said. Because of the small inventory, the resort offers a lot of personalised care and service to the guests coming to the property, he said.

As part of the renovation, the property has added a nice pool to the facility. “Because of the property’s proximity to Kerala, we expect a lot of week-end traffic from the Kerala side into the resort,” Baljee informs.

With the new addition, ROHL has crossed the 70 mark in terms of number of hotels under operations. ROHL already have a significant footprint in the wilderness destinations. The company has resorts in Ranthambore and Pench; and in important bird sanctuaries like Bharatpur and Mysore.

Baljee said that ROHL has added 15 new hotels in the last two years, especially during the Covid19 pandemic, and is poised to add another 15 soon. “Our target is to reach 100 hotels by the end of the next financial year 2022-23,” he said. With this growth, he said that the hotel group will be able to add another 2000 rooms to its existing inventory of 4,500 rooms.

He said that the trend of independent hotels joining the bandwagon of ROHL will continue as they will be able to leverage the benefits of well-defined and proven SOPs, sales and marketing support; and advanced technology platforms.

PHUKET, Thailand (Jan. 18, 2022) – Meliá Phuket Mai Khao, a wellness-inspired resort that fronts Phuket’s longest stretch of sand with a chilled-out beach club and private pool villas has opened on Thailand’s largest island.

The resort is the second five-star property to be launched in Thailand under Spanish hotel group Meliá Hotels International as part of a brand roll-out in key destinations across the Kingdom.

Situated on secluded Mai Khao beach, commanding eight acres of Phuket’s northwestern coastline on the Andaman Sea, Meliá Phuket Mai Khao opened its doors for business on December 1.

The 30-suite and 70-villa resort, owned by residential real estate developer Phuket Villa Group, is a 15-minute drive to Phuket International Airport and near an array of attractions including Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation, Sirinat National Park, and Wat Phra Thong temple.

The resort’s design melds traditional and contemporary Thai aesthetics with a smattering of Mediterranean accents and uses a neutral palette of colours to complement Mai Khao’s sandy shoreline. The resort’s diverse dining landscape comprises four outlets under the stewardship of culinary director Luca Mancini and adds a dash of Mediterranean flavor to Phuket’s culinary scene.

The design expression of the lodge is reflected by the interiors, which draw on the honesty of materials and culturally relevant design coupled with local craftsmanship. All inventory has been sourced or made in Gujarat; from the pattern on the large sandstone and steel Jali screens (which is a replica of the perforations of the dried leaf of a sal tree) to the striking wall of Kutchi lipan plasterwork with its intricate inlaid mirrors handcrafted by local artisans. The vintage applique scatter cushions and hand-beaten brass tables add to the detailed layering. 

Each of the 18 sensitively appointed private village-style kothis take their cue from the charmingly informal arrangement of the local Gujarati village homes, whose buildings develop spontaneously with time. True to their name (ARAMNESS – peaceful village), the understated yet utterly luxurious interiors have been designed to instill deep comfort and tranquility and have been constructed using natural materials and craft techniques native to Gujarat and  India.

Ginger signs a new hotel in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand. The hotel will be designed around the brand’s lean luxe design and service philosophy of offering a vibrant, contemporary, and seamless hospitality experience to its guests.

Delhi, November  2021: As millions of Mumbaikars return to their favorite restaurants, pubs and bars in town, the city will see a hot new destination - the iconic French café brand ‘Café Noir’, within the Lodha World premises.

 

‘Café Noir’ by Bengaluru-based VRO Hospitality will offer some of the finest arrays of cakes, sandwiches, quiches, and other bakery items.  Originally started by Frenchman Thierry Jasserand more than a decade ago, Café Noir’s first outlet was at Bengaluru’s posh shopping destination UB City. It became legendary for its bakes, coffees & breakfast.

 

However, in 2020, Thierry decided to return home, which is also when VRO Hospitality took over this quaint coffee place. The cafe also has a new culinary director, Daniel Koshy, who comes with nearly three decades of experience, and is a magician in terms of baking. After a decade of success in Bengaluru that saw VRO Hospitality create successful and popular brands like Hangover, Badmaash, Nevermind, Mirage, Destination, and Mr. Tycoon, the group is now all set to enter Mumbai for the first time ever with Café Noir.

 

Needless to say, the Mumbai edition of Café Noir will be in tune with the city’s vibes. “Besides our posh new estate in Lodha World, we have elevated the interiors and made it closer to the timeless French bistros of Paris. The acquisitions were followed by a fresh round of funding (Series A) this year worth $3 million and will help VRO take its diverse portfolio across India. Around 80% of the Series A funding, which was led by Creed Capital, will be going into expansion as VRO is planning to add 16 new projects in Bengaluru, Goa, Mumbai, Kochi, and Chennai.

Leading Spanish hotel group partners with Phuket Villa Group to launch landmark resort

PHUKET, Thailand (Oct. 14, 2021) – Meliá Phuket Mai Khao, a 30-suite and 70-villa resort on eight acres of Phuket’s northwestern coastline overlooking the sky-blue Andaman Sea is slated to open in December.

Fronting Phuket’s longest stretch of sand, the resort on Mai Khao Beach is close to an array of attractions such as Sirinat National Park, Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation, and Wat Phra Thong temple. Phuket International Airport is a 15-minute drive.

Authorities plan to open Thailand to fully vaccinated tourists from countries deemed low-risk from November 1.

Launched by Meliá Hotels International and owned by Thailand’s leading residential real estate developer Phuket Villa Group, the five-star resort is part of a roll-out of the Meliá brand in key destinations across Thailand including Koh Samui, Chiang Mai and Bangkok.

The new resort’s saltwater swimming pools, private villa pools, a reflection pond with sunken seating areas, water gardens, vertical falls and irrigation mist evoke a restorative atmosphere. The overarching design pays tribute to contemporary aesthetics and traditional Thai touches.

The contemporary, light-filled and spacious Mediterranean-inspired accommodations comprise 30 one-bedroom suites and 70 one-bedroom villas that each cater for up to two adults and two children. All feature outdoor bathtubs, open-air showers and vast outdoor terraces.

The 78sqm suites are complemented by cabanas and the 85sqm one-bedroom villas have private plunge pools. Fifteen “wellness villas” feature an open-air Vitamin C shower, daily massage, ultrasonic essential oil diffuser, GermGuardian air purifier, Tempur-Pedic pillows, fit ball and yoga mat.

Meliá Phuket Mai Khao will explore a diverse culinary landscape from four outlets. Near the beach pool with its cabanas and sun lounges, chic Gaia Beach Club is “the place to be”. Drawing on Meliá’s Spanish origins, Gaia celebrates Spain’s famed gastronomy by serving Mediterranean and fusion cuisine from an open kitchen and an imaginative cocktail selection from a long bar.

Elegant all-day dining restaurant SASA specialises in Southeast Asian cuisine. A warm and intimate setting adorned with timber finishes, SASA offers casual fine dining by night. Elyxr Café serves freshly squeezed juices and locally brewed liquors.

Shaded by a broad spectrum of native plants, the resort's design deploys a neutral palette of colours as a complement to Mai Khao’s sandy shore. Its high ceilings, floor-to-roof glass panels and decorative metal screens take advantage of the natural surrounds and abundance of sunshine.

At 300sqm, Meliá’s signature YHI Spa is home to five treatment rooms. In addition to its extensive menu of massages, facials, body scrubs and wraps, spa therapists also provide poolside and in-villa treatments.
