Amardeep will be responsible for spearheading the resort launch, managing finance performance, guest engagement & relationships.

A seasoned hotelier with over two decades of extensive experience in the hospitality industry, Amardeep will be responsible for strategically building the hotel’s vision of being the most preferred and versatile destination in the Himalayas. With his enriching experience, he has a well-rounded skill set across hotel operations, sales, marketing, revenue management, and distribution. CHEF WARIS QURESHI TAKES ON THE MANTLE OF INDIAN CUISINE AT JYRAN, SOFITEL MUMBAI BKC

Sofitel Mumbai BKC, the elegant, luxury hotel in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex, introduces Waris Hasan Qureshi as the new Indian Master Chef at Jyran. The award-winning signature restaurant, serving authentic cuisine inspired by the Northwest Indian Frontier Province, will now be helmed by Chef Qureshi, who specializes in Awadhi, Hyderabadi, and Kashmiri cuisines. 

A curious learner, Waris spent his early years in a quaint village in Lucknow listening to the tales of innovative Indian cuisine from his great grandfather Mohammed Yusuf Qureshi, who was the head Chef to the Nawab Wajid Ali Shah, in 18th century Lucknow. At the age of 12, he was intrigued by the stories about the feasts his grandfather cooked for the Nawabs and his guests, and that developed his interest in food and cuisine. His great-grandfather’s legacy is being carried forward by his father, who now runs a catering business in Lucknow. He was a helping hand to his father until he decided to come to Mumbai. 

He first began his culinary journey in 2013 at Tote on the Turf. He then moved on to Blue Waters restaurant, followed by an appointment at Oakwood, now Z-Luxury Residences. Armed with his recently honed skills, he transitioned into the world of hotels over the years and soon joined Marriott International with the JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar, where Chef Qureshi began focusing on specialty menus and cuisines. After this, he joined two hotel chains in succession – the Bengaluru Marriott Whitefield, followed by the Conrad Pune, where Chef Qureshi progressed from Senior Chef de Partie to Junior Sous Chef (Indian Master Chef) within a year. 

Across his roles, Chef Qureshi remained focused on developing new and unique menus, featuring traditional, authentic flavors and celebrating specialty cuisines via food festivals and previously unknown recipes. His Signature dishes include Awadhi Ghosh Dum Biryani, Shahi Ghosh ki Gilawat, Kakori Kebabs, and Nalli Nihari.

His deep knowledge of cooking techniques, coupled with access to secret recipes passed down through generations, make him a formidable force in the kitchen.

Outside of the kitchen, Chef Qureshi enjoys socializing with friends and family, playing cricket, traveling, swimming, and experimenting with recipes.

Jitender Gupta has been appointed Financial Controller at Radisson Blu Plaza Delhi Airport. Mr. Gupta brings over 23 years of deep understanding and commands experience in cost and management accounting.

Azerai Can Tho Introduces New Executive Chef Bernardo Cabrera

CAN THO, Vietnam (November 2022) — Azerai Can Tho has appointed a new Executive Chef, Mexican national Bernardo Cabrera, to head the culinary program at one of the Mekong Delta’s most exclusive dining destinations.

Cabrera will draw on his past experiences working in three-Michelin-star restaurants Ryu Gin in Japan, where he served under renowned Chef Seiji Yamamoto, and Geranium in Copenhagen, Denmark. The latter was named the No. 1 restaurant in the world in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022, and Cabrera trained there with celebrated Chef Rasmus Kofoed.

In 2018, Cabrera moved to Vietnam, where he joined the culinary team at Amanoi. That experience marked his second stint with Aman Resorts after he joined Amanyara in the Turks and Caicos islands starting in 2012. He also led the culinary operation at Soho Beach House Canouan in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

“The Mekong Delta is world-famous for its abundant fruit orchards, cacao farms and delicious local cuisine. Food here is a central part of life – much like it was during my childhood growing up in Mexico – and I look forward to sharing my passion for truly memorable meals with our guests at Azerai Can Tho,” Cabrera said.

Cabrera will oversee the entire range of Azerai Can Tho’s culinary program, including its popular multi-day special dining events featuring renowned Vietnamese and international guest chefs.

Azerai Can Tho is home to two formal dining venues. The Cafe serves traditional Vietnamese and Western-style breakfasts; regional Vietnamese cuisine, sandwiches and salads for lunch; and tapas-style dinner with new and old world wines. The Grill offers imported premium meats and local seafood in a relaxed and informal setting.

Two-and-a-half hours by car from Ho Chi Minh City, Azerai Can Tho is situated on a private islet in the Mekong Delta that is accessible only by boat. Well-traveled Belgian brings a wealth of experience to a new role in Cambodia

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (November 2022) – Nicola van Heemsbergen from Belgium brings a wealth of culinary experience gleaned at some of the world’s best hotels and restaurants to his role as new executive chef at Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh.

Van Heemsbergen embarked on his path as a professional chef almost 30 years ago when he completed a traineeship at t’Fornius, a Michelin-starred venue in the Belgian city of Antwerp that is rated as one of the country’s finest restaurants. And he has not looked back since those early years — setting out on a culinary odyssey as a chef that has taken him to glamorous locations around the world.

Notable assignments along the way include stints at Michelin-starred restaurants like Lasserre in Paris and the legendary La Pyramide in Vienne, France. Previous hotel experience, meanwhile, includes periods at properties like Dubai’s Burj Al Arab, Raffles Singapore, The Peninsula in Manila, and Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti in Tanzania. Fairfield by Marriott Kolkata has announced the appointment of Manoj Jangid as their new hotel manager. With over twenty years of enriching industry experience, Jangid is a hospitality veteran and has an intrinsic understanding of hotel operations and guest aspirations. He would be responsible for looking after the strategic initiatives and overall operations of Fairfield by Marriott Kolkata with 182 keys and the banqueting facilities at the Ozone Convention Centre.

Jangid started his career in F&B operations and has experience both in curated fine dining spaces as well as large-scale catering events. He has earned his reputation working across multiple hotel companies and varied roles at Taj Hotels, Hyatt, Accor Hotels, and Marriott International.

Starting as an assistant manager at Grand Hyatt, Mumbai in 2009, he climbed various steps in the food & beverage Department- from a restaurant manager to the director of food & beverage at Sofitel Mumbai between 2011-2019. His last assignment was at JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar where he spearheaded f&b operations as the director of food & beverage for three years.

Impresario names Satyajit Dhingra as its first Chief Business Officer


In his new role, he will be leading the charge of expanding Impresario’s brands to 140 outposts across India over the next five years

November 2022: Impresario Handmade Restaurants has announced the elevation of Satyajit Dhingra as the Group’s first Chief Business Officer (CBO).  The move comes as the company readies itself to grow in new markets over the next few years and expand its influence in India. 

Satyajit has played a massive role in cementing Impresario’s image as one of the top F&B brands in India, over the last 15 years. The legendary homegrown cafe chain Mocha was Satya’s first brush with leadership at the Impresario stable.

In the past, he’s worked with brands like McDonald’s and Essar’s The Mobile Store, where his dedicated approach led to him quickly rising in the ranks. Through these experiences, he learned the tricks of the trade, with a strong focus on business fundamentals. 

In his new role as CBO, Satyajit will oversee the ambitious roll-out plans, double Impresario’s foot print from 60 to 120 outlets across 30 cities, and build strong relationships with external stakeholders like property owners, partners, and key suppliers, something that Satyajit has been honing for years. 

“It’s been a lifetime of growth here. We started small, but I’ve seen Impresario grow in terms of network and revenue, as well as the number of lives we’ve touched with our cafes. My goal is to expand into new markets and deepen our presence in existing markets while continuing to maintain healthy economics in current outlets. The Chief Business Officer role is something I’m eager to take on as my next challenge at Impresario!” said Dhingra.

Having secured his MBA in Marketing and Hospitality Management from the Srinivas Institute of Management Studies, Mangalore University, Srijith began his journey, in the year 2008. Prior to The St. Regis Goa Resort, Srijith - a seasoned hospitality professional, has worked with many established hotels in India including The Leela Group, IHHR Hospitality Private Ltd, and Ginger Hotels.

 

He is a true believer and enforcer of providing wholesome experience to guests, and does so by ensuring comprehensive training for each member of his team. Sherry Padda joins as Hotel Manager at Grand Hyatt Mumbai Hotel and Residences

Sherry’s journey in the hospitality industry commenced 22 years ago as an Assistant Manager in Sales at The Bogmallo Beach Resort in Goa, before she shifted to Front Office operations as a Duty Manager at Taj Residency, Cochin. Sherry’s career has seen her travel the length of India, with opportunities presented in various locations such as Cochin, Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore. Ms. Padda’s most recent stint was with The Leela Palace, New Delhi, Chanakyapuri, as an Executive Assistant Manager.  

On the professional front, Sherry has had some memorable moments, such as being a representative as the only lady official attaché for the Prime Minister and his wife’s visit.

Tarun Arora has been appointed as Chef De Cuisine of Events at Andaz Delhi

Tarun Arora has been appointed as the Chef De Cuisine of Events at Andaz Delhi – a luxury lifestyle hotel by Hyatt. With over 15 years of experience across the globe from the US to Spain, Italy, and France with topmost luxury brands like Imperial, Carnival Cruises, Indigo, Pullman and Novotel, Chef Tarun has showcased his skills and talent at numerous events and platforms, over the years.

Tarun Arora began his career in the Food and Beverage industry in 2008, as an Executive Trainee and Demi Chef De Partie at Hotel Imperial, New Delhi. Over the next few years, he worked at The Carnival Cruise Lines, Miami, USA, from 2011 till 2012 as Demi Chef De Partie in the main galley and then as a Steakhouse Cook at Fahrenheit 555, Carnival Cruise Lines during the years 2012-2014.

Post which, he worked at the Pullman and Novotel Airport hotel in Delhi,  where he initially served as a Chef De Partie in 2014-2015, got promoted as a Junior Sous Chef in 2016, as the Sous Chef for Events from April 2017 to March 2019 and then as the Chef De Cuisine for Events from April 2019 till August 2020. He then shifted to Andaz Delhi, where he initially worked as the Chef De Cuisine at AnnaMaya, the Modern Foodhall at Andaz Delhi.
