SOCIAL has opened its newest Mumbai outpost at Sky City Mall in Borivali, built around the idea of “the last stop to many starts”. The concept plays on Borivali’s long-standing reputation as the final stop on the city’s suburban railway line, and instead presents the suburb as a place where many journeys, communities and stories begin.

The brand points to the neighbourhood’s contrasts: railway tracks that give way to forest trails, ancient Buddhist caves alongside glass towers, and old villages living between newer developments. Pockets such as Eksar, Poisar, Vazira, Shimpoli and Magathane each keep their own identity, while the area’s character draws on its proximity to the forest, its coast and jetties, East Indian roots and Gujarati influences.

An archive of the natural world

The interiors follow a theme titled ‘Preserving What We Might Forget’, inspired by the Svalbard Global Seed Vault and Borivali’s relationship with Sanjay Gandhi National Park. The space is imagined as a playful archive, with botanical impressions, preserved specimens reinterpreted as art, archival drawers documenting Borivali’s butterflies, X-ray-inspired tables and an interactive digital forest installation.

From coffee to cocktails

The menu carries SOCIAL favourites including Fully Re-loaded Nachos, Bombay Bhelpuri Salad, Paneer Makhani Biryani and China Box, with coffee, mocktails and matcha for daytime visits. In the evening the brand’s signature cocktails take over, among them the Banarasi Patiala, LLIIT and Grenade.
