Taj Mahal, New Delhi Hosts the Hereditary Prince and Princess of Liechtenstein on State Visit

Taj Mahal, New Delhi has welcomed His Serene Highness Hereditary Prince Alois of Liechtenstein and Her Royal Highness Hereditary Princess Sophie of Liechtenstein during their State Visit to India. The stay drew on the hotel's long record of hosting heads of state and visiting dignitaries, and marked the ties between India and the Principality of Liechtenstein.

A ceremonial arrival

The royal couple arrived to the beat of the nagara and the call of the narsingha. Hotel staff, dressed in white and red, greeted them with the sound of the conch shell. A Bharatanatyam performance followed. The dancers worked through a series of mudras, the hand gestures this classical form uses to tell its stories. Floral arrangements framed the arrival, and the in-room amenities drew on India's regional culinary heritage.

A birthday at the hotel

The visit coincided with the birthday of Hereditary Princess Sophie. For the occasion, the hotel created a multi-tiered cake that paired fresh natural berries with warm Indian spices.

The couple were received by Dr. Anmol Ahluwalia, Area Director – Operations and General Manager, Taj Mahal, New Delhi. The hotel sits in Lutyens' Delhi, close to the seat of government, and is part of IHCL's Taj portfolio.
