The company expanded its brands to new markets and completed several key openings across EMEA in the first quarter of this year and plans to open more than 20 additional hotels in 2021 including five located in the Indian subcontinent.

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts continues to cement its presence across Europe, Middle East, Eurasia and Africa (EMEA) with a series of recent hotel launches and a strong line-up of openings for 2021.

The company expanded its brands to new markets and completed several key openings across EMEA in the first quarter of this year and plans to open more than 20 additional hotels in 2021 including five located in the Indian subcontinent.

In a year of historic challenges for the travel industry, in 2020 Wyndham achieved 38 new hotel signings in the region, a host of important openings, in addition to launching multi-faceted initiatives to support and empower hotel partners across EMEA to help re-build demand in response to changes and on-going travel restrictions.

Some of Wyndham’s key 2020 openings included the European expansion of Ramada by Wyndham in Madrid, Valencia, Leeds, Budapest and other openings in Germany. 2020, also marked a significant year for the Indian subcontinent, with milestones including the debut of the Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham brand as well as continued growth of the Ramada brand.

Other highlights included the expansion of La Quinta by Wyndham in Turkey, and the debut of the Super 8 by Wyndham brand in the UAE.

In late 2020, Wyndham also opened its first hotel in Nepal under the Ramada Encore by Wyndham brand, and expanded in India with the addition of Wyndham Ahmedabad Shela.

Solid growth continued in 2021, as Wyndham announced the debut of the La Quinta brand in Dubai and saw further momentum in Turkey with the opening of Ramada by Wyndham Izmir Aliaga, while also expanding its Dolce brand with a new flagship hotel in Copenhagen.

Wyndham’s recent expansion in EMEA reinforces its commitment to its partners, guests and team members across the region and is set to continue with a strong development pipeline of over 16,000 rooms that includes more than 20 new hotels expected to open later this year.

Dimitris Manikis, President EMEA, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, said: “We are extremely proud of these achievements, initiatives and the incredible resilience shown by our hotel partners in the region. In the toughest period our industry has ever experienced, it is more important than ever to put our partners, guests and teams at the heart of everything we do. Our ability to continue to grow is a testament to the strength of the value proposition of the Wyndham brands for hotel partners as they prepare to rebuild demand, and we are looking forward to our continued and long-term success together.”

Some of the upcoming openings in 2021 will include:

  • Further development in India with the openings of Ramada by Wyndham Gangtok Deorali Hotel & Casino in April and Ramada Varanasi Katesar later in 2021.

  • The debut of the Wyndham’s namesake brand in Cyprus with the highly anticipated opening of the upscale Wyndham Nicosia expected around the end of the year. The hotel will offer elegant accommodation in Nicosia’s main square, alongside several leisure amenities and conference space.

  • Further momentum in Turkey where Wyndham is the largest international hotel group with over 80 hotels and seven new properties expected to open in 2021, including the debut of the Days Inn by Wyndham brand with two openings in Istanbul.

  • Brand expansion in the Middle East with the opening of the first Days Inn by Wyndham in the UAE in the second half of 2021, which will bring more economy accommodation options to travellers visiting the charming Deira district in Dubai, as well as the opening of a new Wyndham Grand hotel in Doha, Qatar.

  • Further growth in Europe includes the launch of the Trademark Collection by Wyndham hotels with a stylish hotel in central Brussels and more upcoming Trademark openings in Budapest and Dusseldorf later in 2021. Expansion of the Ramada by Wyndham brand in Romania, with two additional openings in Targu Jiu and Slatina.

  • Additional openings of Wyndham Garden Burabay (Kazakhstan), Ramada Encore by Wyndham Tashkent (Uzbekistan). A Ramada by Wyndham will also open in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi.

In 2020 Wyndham Hotels & Resorts launched a new hybrid meeting solution in EMEA combining live-streaming and in-person participation to encourage attendance when faced with restrictions on meeting sizes and travel. Wyndham also introduced support for business travelers with reduced corporate rates for small to mid-size businesses through the Wyndham Easy Book, and a new Wyndham Mobile App offering personalized experiences and responding to new user’s needs in real-time

Available in both platforms' app stores, the new Wyndham app provides travellers with a reimagined user experience to inspire upcoming getaways and 2021 travel plans.

The app, which prioritises low-contact in-stay features, comes at a critical time as both travellers and hoteliers look for innovative, digital solutions to help navigate the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.

Building on the app's core features is a fully reimagined user experience that is filled with personal touches while anticipating and adapting to users' real-time needs based on where they are and what they want to do.

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts Launches New “Count on Us” Initiative

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, the world's largest hotel franchising company with approximately 9,300 hotels across 90 countries, today launched "Count on UsSM," a new long-term, multi-faceted initiative to build confidence among guests and to support franchisees as it begins making preparations to welcome travelers back to its more than 6,000 U.S. hotels.

Launch of the new initiative follows dialogue and collaboration with Wyndham franchisees, members of its Franchise Advisory Councils, leading industry partners, and key trade organizations like the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA).

The immediate focus is to further elevate health and safety protocols at Wyndham hotels in the wake of COVID-19, shore up critical supply chains and introduce new standards, training and guidelines grounded in guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Key early components of the new initiative—designed to be cost neutral when combined with other recent operational changes—are slated to begin rolling out in the coming weeks and include:

Wyndham will require consistent use of Ecolab's EPA-approved disinfectants in all U.S. hotel guestrooms and public spaces.

Providing hotel owners and their team members with access to Ecolab's best-in-class training and resources, including a field team of more than 2,000 on-the-ground experts ready to assist hotels.

Easy Access to COVID-19 Health Essentials

In response to the growing challenges that many small businesses and individuals face as they try to secure essential health supplies that meet CDC guidelines

Leveraging volume discounts pre-negotiated by Wyndham, these items will be made available at cost to hotel owners with the Company financing all initial shipments and deferring payments from hotels until September 1, 2020

Delivering on the Promise of a "Safe Stay"

As a member of The AHLA Safe Stay Advisory Council, Wyndham has joined with other industry leaders as well as public health experts, scientists and medical leaders to develop a series of industry best practices and guidelines that focus on enhanced hotel cleaning practices, social interactions, and workplace protocols to meet the new health and safety challenges presented by COVID-19

A Visible Commitment to Guests

Count on Us is an extension of Wyndham's signature Count on Me® service culture and is the latest in a growing list of efforts by the Company to help hotels, team members and guests affected by the global impact of COVID-19.

Wyndham has taken unprecedented steps to provide substantial financial assistance to its thousands of hotel owners; united with leading companies to offer alternative employment opportunities to displaced Wyndham team members; updated its policies to provide travelers and Wyndham Rewards members with increased travel flexibility; and launched #EverydayHeroes, a new initiative honoring essential workers on the frontlines of COVID-19.

In the months to come, the Company will look for new ways to bring Count on Us to life, including exploring opportunities to expand the initiative to its hotels around the world.
