Legacy Tangra Comes to Pune: A Celebration of Culture, Craft & Culinary

Some food stories are not just cooked, they are lived, passed down, and fiercely protected. This February, The Westin Pune Koregaon Park invites the city to witness one such story unfold with A Taste of Tangra, an immersive celebration of Kolkataโ€™s legendary Indo-Chinese cuisine.

Rooted in the historic neighborhood of Tangra in Kolkata that is now home to generations of Chinese families, Tangra cuisine represents a rare cultural confluence. What began as home-style cooking in Chinese settlements gradually evolved into Indiaโ€™s most loved Indo-Chinese flavours, defined by high-heat wok techniques, bold sauces, and deeply comforting tastes that continue to evoke nostalgia across generations.

Bringing this iconic legacy to Pune is Chef Edwin Liao, Owner and Head Chef of Tai Sen Chinese Eating House, Kolkata. With over 45 years of culinary experience, Chef Liao is a respected custodian of Tangraโ€™s culinary traditions, known for preserving authentic recipes, mastering precise wok skills, and safeguarding flavours that have stood the test of time. His arrival in Pune marks a rare opportunity for diners to experience Tangra cuisine as it was meant to be โ€”uncompromising, soulful, and steeped in heritage.

Adding to the celebration, guests are invited to witness the traditional Lion Dance performances at the hotel on 27th February, 28th February, and 1st March. Symbolising prosperity, joy, and good fortune, the Lion Dance brings alive the festive spirit of Chinese culture, transforming dining into a moment of shared celebration and cultural connection.

Designed to spark curiosity, nostalgia, and anticipation, A Taste of Tangra promises more than just a mealโ€”it is an invitation to experience a living legacy, one that travels from the narrow lanes of Kolkata to the heart of Pune.

From Chennaiโ€™s Streets to Sheraton Hyderabad: Soy Soi Arrives at Zega

  • Google Calendar ICS

Chef Peter Tsengโ€™s Celebrated Pan-Asian Restaurant Makes Its Hyderabad Debut in a Three-Day Exclusive Popup

Hyderabad, February 2026 โ€“  Imagine the smoky sizzle of chicken skewers at a Bangkok night market, the gentle pull of hand-folded dumplings from a Singapore hawker stall, the briny depth of a Burmese tea leaf salad eaten street-side in Yangon. For three days, Hyderabad wonโ€™t need a flight ticket to get there. From February 27 to March 1, 2026, Zega โ€” Sheraton Hyderabad Hotelโ€™s Pan-Asian restaurant partners with Chennaiโ€™s beloved Soy Soi for an exclusive popup that brings the soul of Southeast Asiaโ€™s street food culture straight to the cityโ€™s table.

Led by Chef Te Yuan Peter Tseng, Culinary Director of Pricol Gourmet Pvt. Ltd., Soy Soi has been Chennaiโ€™s go-to Pan-Asian address since it opened in March 2017. The restaurant was born out of a deeply personal culinary journey โ€” through the night markets of Singapore, the hawker centres of Kuala Lumpur and Malacca, the street stalls of Ho Chi Minh, Bali, Jakarta, and Bangkok โ€” and it has spent nearly a decade translating those experiences into plates that feel both authentic and considered. For Hyderabad diners, this popup is the first chance to experience Soy Soiโ€™s menu without making the trip to Chennai.

The popup menu draws from the dishes that have earned Soy Soi its loyal following in Chennai. Highlights include Soto Ayam Madura, turmeric-poached chicken with devilled egg and vermicelli noodles; Lahpet Thoke, a Burmese fermented tea leaf salad with roasted Bengal gram dal and pumpkin seeds; Xiaolong Bao with miso broth and Wagyu; Yellow Tail Usuzukuri with yuzu koshu and herb oil; Sate Ayam Bakar, grilled chicken skewers with sambal hijau and coconut milk reduction; and Jasmine Tempura Prawns with Sichuan chili and tea leaf oil. Mains feature the Lamb Rendang โ€” New Zealand lamb rack with bumbu and roasted coconut shavings. The meal ends on a delicate note with Thap Thim Krop, pandan chestnut rubies with lemongrass and coconut panna cotta, and the signature Bon Bon collection of pandan, matcha, jasmine, and sweet tamarind.

โ€œThis collaboration represents more than a popup event โ€” itโ€™s a cultural bridge between two dynamic cities through the universal language of Asian cuisine,โ€ says Chef Peter Tseng.

Benjamin Lalhmangaiha, Executive Sous Chef at Zega, adds, โ€œPartnering with Soy Soi is an opportunity to learn from one of the countryโ€™s most respected Pan-Asian kitchens. Chef Peterโ€™s commitment to authenticity aligns perfectly with Zegaโ€™s philosophy of bringing genuine Asian flavors to Hyderabad.โ€

For the duration of the popup, Zegaโ€™s dining space takes on a new identity โ€” dressed with Asian-inspired elements and symbolic representations of the four elements: earth, fire, water, and air โ€” drawing guests into an atmosphere that echoes the energy of Southeast Asiaโ€™s most vibrant street food districts.

Soy Soiโ€™s culinary philosophy rests on authenticity and precision. The restaurant sources many of its ingredients directly from Southeast Asian countries to preserve the integrity of each dish. Beyond the familiar, it deliberately champions lesser-known regional preparations from Southeast Asiaโ€™s street food markets โ€” and an ever-evolving, research-driven menu ensures thereโ€™s always something new to discover.

Both ร  la carte lunch options and curated dinner set menus will be available.
