Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines Launch Strategic Joint Business Partnership with New Joint Fare Products

Malaysia Airlines (MAB) and Singapore Airlines (SIA) have launched their strategic joint business partnership, formalised in January 2026 following regulatory approvals, with the introduction of joint fare products for travel between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

The new joint fare offerings build on the airlines’ existing codeshare partnership, enabling MAB and SIA to provide customers with a greater variety of fare options between the two capital cities, as well as enhanced connectivity across the combined network of both carriers.

MAB and SIA are also working towards the progressive introduction of additional customer benefits, including reciprocal lounge access, coordinated flight schedules, and joint corporate travel arrangements. These initiatives reflect the airlines’ deepening commercial collaboration and shared commitment to improving connectivity between Malaysia, Singapore, and the wider region.

Mr Bryan Foong, Chief Executive Officer of Airline Business from Malaysia Aviation Group, said: “This joint business partnership with Singapore Airlines marks a significant milestone in the expansion of our commercial collaboration. By introducing joint fare products, we are giving our customers greater choice, improved flexibility, and a more seamless travel experience. This collaboration also lays the foundation for deeper integration across our networks, ultimately benefiting both leisure and business travellers.”

Mr Lee Lik Hsin, Chief Commercial Officer, Singapore Airlines, said: “The introduction of joint fare products with Malaysia Airlines expands the range of fare options available to customers travelling between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, offering more flexibility and convenience when planning their journeys. As we deepen our collaboration, we will continue to combine our strengths to enhance both airlines’ offerings and deliver greater value to customers, while strengthening the long-standing people-to-people connections and trade links between Singapore and Malaysia.”

Since signing their commercial cooperation framework agreement in October 2019, MAB and SIA have progressively expanded their collaboration, offering customers greater connectivity and more travel options. The airlines currently codeshare on services across Malaysia, Singapore, Europe, and South Africa.

In addition, both carriers introduced reciprocal accrual and redemption between the Enrich and KrisFlyer frequent flyer programmes in February 2024, allowing members to earn and redeem miles or points on selected flights operated by both carriers.

Hushpitality Rising: Agoda Insights Point to a Growing Appetite for Slower Travel in India

India, June 2026 - Digital travel platform Agoda has recorded a rise in travel interest across a cluster of destinations in India’s Himalayan region, with Dharamshala, Rishikesh and Uttarkashi all witnessing year-on-year growth in accommodation searches. The increase reflects a growing preference among travelers for quieter, slower-paced holidays, with more people seeking peaceful alternatives to crowded tourist destinations, a movement increasingly referred to as ‘hushpitality’.

The preference for slower, quieter escapes is also reflected in Agoda’s 2026 Travel Outlook report, which found that relaxation was the primary motivation for travel among 67% of Indian respondents. Against this backdrop, the growing interest in these destinations points to an evolving mindset where travelers are reassessing what a meaningful holiday looks like. Increasingly, the answer involves distance from urban noise, proximity to nature, and the kind of unhurried pace that crowded tourist hotspots rarely afford.

Dharamshala recorded a 154% year-on-year increase in accommodation searches. This quaint hill town has long attracted travelers drawn to its Tibetan Buddhist culture, meditation centers and scenic forest trails. Rishikesh follows closely, recording a 65% increase in accommodation searches compared to the same period last year. Situated along the banks of the Ganga, this town in Uttarakhand is known for its yoga traditions, wellness retreats and ashram stays. Search interest for both these destinations is led by domestic travelers, alongside inbound interest from the United States, Japan, Singapore, Australia, Thailand, and the UAE among other countries.

Another emerging destination in the state of Uttarakhand is Uttarkashi, which registered a 17% year-on-year increase in accommodation searches. This hill station appeals to travelers looking to travel and plan more deliberately in exchange for a more unmediated experience of mountain terrain. International searches for this destination include South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Nepal among others.

Gaurav Malik, Country Director, Indian Subcontinent & Indian Ocean Islands, Agoda said, “Indian travelers are increasingly looking for holidays that allow them to slow down and disconnect from the pace of everyday urban life. Destinations such as Dharamshala, Rishikesh and Uttarkashi are attracting interest because they offer a different kind of travel experience centered on time, space and simplicity. At Agoda, we aim to make these experiences more accessible by helping travelers find the right stay at the right price.”

Agoda provides access to over 6 million holiday properties across price points and property types, alongside more than 130,000 flight routes and over 300,000 activities that can be booked together in one place. Travelers can explore multiple options across any destination on the Agoda mobile app or visit Agoda.com for more information.

From Dining Tables to Meaningful Connections - The Supper Club Mumbai celebrates one year of building community over food and storytelling

Mumbai, June 2026: A culinary melting pot with a plethora of dining options, Mumbai demands more than just a great menu to immerse food and experience aficionados. Curating experiences that people remember for long defines success. Learning the pulse of Mumbaikars and experience-driven people from around the world in the city, over the past year, The Supper Club Mumbai, founded by culinary entrepreneur Chef Rajshri Gupta, has struck the right chords.  The Supper Club Mumbai has transcended intimate meals into immersive experiences celebrating food, nostalgia, human connection, and culture.

Celebrating its first anniversary, The Supper Club Mumbai underscores that success is not about unveiling a unique dining concept, but serving consumers longing for intimate, authentic, and immersive storytelling.

The Supper Club Mumbai was envisioned as the bridge between food and conversations on India’s cultural diversity that ultimately brings the larger country together. With a year passed, the initiative has hosted innumerable food enthusiasts, creators, and culture seekers with Chef Rajshri’s mindful curation of regional Indian cuisines, seasonal produce, heritage recipes, and the tales behind them.

A key aspect of the platform's journey is to showcase the forgotten culinary heritage, especially those from Karnataka. The Yele Oota experiences present Chef Rajshri’s specially curated regional flavours, age-old serving styles, and cultural significance that cannot be easily found even in leading dining outlets across the city. Every gathering ignites nostalgia and thoughtful conversations on food, diversity, and tradition.

The anniversary also marks an important milestone in Chef Rajshri Gupta’s entrepreneurial journey. A contributor writer for Hospitality Horizon Magazine, she transitioned from food journalism to building a hospitality firm focused entirely on experience-led dining and cultural storytelling."  Her belief that food experiences must be about coming together, spending quality time over immersive cultural conversations, and about traditional education around ingredients eventually led Chef Rajshri to the creation of The Supper Club Mumbai.

Sharing about the journey, Chef Rajshri Gupta said, "When The Supper Club Mumbai was founded, I never envisioned just serving food but to create a space where people could unwind, share their unique experiences, absorb the cultural value, and connect around a table. With a year gone by, I've seen strangers turn into friends, forgotten food traditions driving conversations, and dining experiences evolve into meaningful memories. In the coming times, I look forward to continuing to curate immersive experiences while bringing people closer together through food."

The Supper Club Mumbai’s anniversary is rightly timed with experiential dining picking up pace and a key driving segment in the hospitality sector. Consumers today are increasingly seeking experiences filled with personal engagement and cultural relevance. Looking forward, Chef Rajshri plans to expand the platform's range of regional culinary experiences and collaborate with artisans, storytellers, and cultural practitioners.

Why a new generation of travellers is choosing lifestyle hotels

A new CBRE report highlights how experience-led travel, evolving consumer preferences and Gen Z spending habits are accelerating the growth of lifestyle hotels.

The spending by Indians on experiences – recreational and cultural activities, restaurants, hotels, and travel – is expected to outpace the spending on physical goods between 2025 and 2030, according to a report titled “Gen Z Checks In: The Rise of the Lifestyle Hotel” released by world’s leading real estate services and investment firm CBRE. The expenditure on hotel accommodation is expected to grow even faster, making it one of the most dynamic consumer spending categories in the country.

An analysis of Oxford Economics data by CBRE Research projected that household expenditure by Indians on physical goods is likely to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.1% between 2025 and 2030. However, broader experiential spending is forecast to grow at a higher 10.3% CAGR over the same period. The spending on hotel accommodation is expected to grow at an even sharper 10.6% CAGR.

The report noted that the shift towards experiences was fundamentally accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Pent-up demand and a desire to make up for lost time have been driving the trend since 2022.

Gen Z driving the shift

The trend is being primarily driven by Generation Z, which currently accounts for the largest demographic bloc across the Asia Pacific region. As Gen Z, born between 1997 and 2012, achieve financial independence, their spending is forecast to expand faster than any other living generation, according to the report.

It added that Gen Z travelers demand striking, curated design environments that double as social media backdrops, personalized service that avoids corporate predictability, and activated communal spaces that host experiences such as wine tastings, acoustic performances, and local cultural events.

Wellness integration is equally non-negotiable, with seamless technology from self-check-in to smart-room automation, now firmly an expectation rather than differentiation.

Emergence of lifestyle hotels

According to CBRE, a new category of property, the lifestyle hotel, has emerged as the industry’s answer to this generational demand. Unlike boutique hotels or global chains, these hotels occupy a middle ground: the design and local character of an independent property, backed by the operational scale, distribution networks, and loyalty programs of an institutional brand.

Between 2015 and 2025, the overall hotel supply across the Asia Pacific region grew at a steady 5% CAGR. However, lifestyle hotels grew at 19% over the same period. Now till 2030, the supply of lifestyle hotels is projected to maintain a 10% CAGR, five times the 2% growth forecast for the broader hotel market.

Moreover, this growth is backed by clear pricing power. The report highlighted that in 2025, upper upscale lifestyle hotels across Asia Pacific commanded a 13% revenue per available room (RevPAR) premium over traditional properties in the same category. Upscale lifestyle brands added a further 7% premium, achieving this despite smaller room sizes by generating stronger food and beverage revenues and running leaner operations.

In India, the penetration of lifestyle hotels remains low as compared to markets like Singapore and Hong Kong. That gap is increasingly being read by developers and investors as an opportunity.

Industry perspectives

“The contemporary consumer no longer just purchases lodging but wants unique, culturally immersive, and digitally shareable environments,” said Anshuman Magazine, Chairman & CEO – India, South-East Asia, Middle East & Africa, CBRE. “This structural shift towards experiential consumption is an enduring macroeconomic trend. For property owners and institutional investors, the lifestyle hotel segment represents a compelling double-win: measurable RevPAR and ADR premiums over standardized assets, and a capital-efficient conversion pathway that maximizes long-term asset value.”

Ada Choi, CFA – Head of Research, Asia Pacific, CBRE, said, “The experience economy is not a trend but a structural reset. The hospitality sector in the APAC region is at an exciting point in this journey. In India specifically, rising incomes, a maturing Gen Z consumer base, and a significant undersupply of lifestyle hospitality product are converging to create one of the most attractive investment environments in the region.”

The investment opportunity

According to CBRE, developers are increasingly turning to existing properties rather than building from scratch, given the rising land costs and construction expenses. Older, independent, unbranded hotels – of which India has a significant stock – are being converted and repositioned as lifestyle properties, often at a fraction of the cost of new development.

The smaller asset transactions are also dominating market liquidity. Assets valued under $100 million grew from 31% of total hotel investment volume across Asia Pacific in 2020 to 42% by 2025, with roughly 30% of traded assets comprising independent hotels ripe for repositioning.

To capitalize on the opportunity, CBRE suggested that developers adopt a market-specific approach, identifying local white spaces, prioritizing design flexibility to preserve future exit optionality, and activating public spaces and food and beverage concepts as community-facing amenities that serve transient guests and local neighborhood demand alike.

Cygnett Marks 12 Years of Growth, Surpasses 4,000 Keys; Wyndham Alliance Powers Journey to 100+ Hotels by 2030

New Delhi, June 2026: Cygnett Hotels & Resorts has completed 12 years of operations, marking a milestone in its evolution from a regional hospitality company into a national hotel management platform with more than 4,000 operational and under-development keys across over 41 destinations in India.

What began in 2014 with the belief that India’s next wave of hospitality growth would emerge beyond metropolitan cities has today evolved into a portfolio of 45 operational hotels and resorts spanning business destinations, leisure markets, pilgrimage centres, and emerging tourism hubs.

At a time when much of the industry remained focused on established gateway cities, Cygnett chose to build its presence in Tier II and Tier III markets and the North East—regions that have since witnessed rapid infrastructure development, improving connectivity and rising travel demand. The company was among the early branded hospitality players to establish a presence in destinations such as Ayodhya and several cities across the North East, anticipating long-term opportunities in these markets well before they entered mainstream hospitality conversations.

Today, Cygnett operates across multiple segments through brands including Cygnett Hotels, Cygnett Park, Cygnett Inn, Cozzet, Cygnett Resort/Retreat and Anamore, its luxury Upper Upscale hospitality platform catering to experiential and upscale travel.

As it enters its next phase of growth, the company is accelerating its expansion through a robust pipeline of hotels and resorts expected to open over the next 24 to 30 months. Upcoming projects are spread across high-growth destinations including Pushkar, Jaipur, Kasauli-Kiarighat, Srinagar, Goa, Sonapur, Guwahati, Itanagar, Jim Corbett, Gurugram, Navi Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chail, Ujjain, Panvel, Murud, Tirupati, Vrindavan, Tawang, Motihari, Dhanbad and Kharagpur, among others.

A defining chapter in Cygnett’s growth journey has been its strategic alliance with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, the world’s largest hotel franchising company by number of hotels. Through this partnership, Cygnett is integrating global distribution capabilities, international sales reach and access to Wyndham Rewards®, one of the world’s largest hotel loyalty programmes with more than 122 million enrolled members globally.

The collaboration is also reshaping the company’s brand architecture. All upcoming hotels and resorts under development are planned to operate under Wyndham-affiliated brands, including Cygnett Hotels™, Cygnett Park™, Cygnett Inn™ and Cozzet™ under Trademark Collection® by Wyndham, alongside Anamore® and Anamore Select® under Registry Collection Hotels® by Wyndham and La Quinta® by Wyndham. The move is expected to significantly enhance international visibility, strengthen distribution and create long-term value for hotel owners and investors.

Several Cygnett properties have already been integrated into the Trademark Collection® by Wyndham portfolio, including hotels in Jaipur, Itanagar, Tezpur, Dibrugarh, Bongaigaon, Bhubaneswar and Ayodhya, enabling them to benefit from Wyndham’s global reservation ecosystem while retaining their local identity.

Commenting on the milestone, Sarbendra Sarkar, Founder & Managing Director, Cygnett Hotels & Resorts, said, "When we started Cygnett twelve years ago, we were convinced that India's hospitality growth story would increasingly be shaped by emerging cities and untapped destinations. The North East, pilgrimage centres and regional markets offered immense potential, and our strategy was built around participating in this transformation long before it became an industry trend."

He further added, "As we enter the next phase of growth, our focus is on creating a globally connected hospitality platform rooted in regional India. Our partnership with Wyndham, expanding portfolio of brands and strong development pipeline position us well to capitalise on the evolving travel landscape and create long-term value for our stakeholders."

With India’s hospitality sector increasingly being driven by spiritual tourism, experiential travel, destination weddings and infrastructure-led commercial corridors, Cygnett believes the next decade of opportunity lies beyond traditional metropolitan markets. The company has set a target of surpassing 100 +hotels and 10,000+ keys by 2030, reinforcing its ambition to play a leading role in shaping the future of hospitality across India and South Asia.
