Shillong – Courtyard by Marriott Shillong proudly announces the promotion of two key leaders as part of its strategic growth and commitment to excellence. Mr. Deepak Kumar has been elevated to the role of Director of Finance, while Mr. Sabyasachi Chatterjee has been promoted to Director of Sales & Marketing. Both leaders have been instrumental in driving the hotel’s performance and establishing it as a premier destination in the Northeast.

Deepak Kumar, who joined Courtyard by Marriott Shillong in 2024, has played a pivotal role in optimizing the hotel’s financial operations. His strategic foresight and financial stewardship have contributed significantly to the property’s growth and stability. His elevation from Assistant Director to Director of Finance is a testament to his analytical acumen, integrity, and ability to lead with clarity in a dynamic hospitality environment. As Director of Finance, Deepak will continue to drive sustainability, compliance, and profitability, reinforcing the hotel’s vision for long-term success.

Mr. Sabyasachi Chatterjee, who has been with Courtyard by Marriott Shillong since 2023, has been promoted from Director of Sales to Director of Sales & Marketing. His focus on performance, strategic market positioning, and guest-centric solutions has been crucial in establishing Courtyard Shillong as a preferred destination in the region. Under his leadership, the hotel achieved exceptional sales growth and solidified its market presence. As he takes on the expanded role, Sabyasachi will lead the integrated Sales and Marketing efforts, enhancing synergy and driving innovation across commercial strategies.

Courtyard by Marriott Shillong is delighted to announce the appointment of Prashant Tiwari as its new  Food and Beverage Manager. Bringing a wealth of experience and a visionary approach, Mr. Tiwari is set  to elevate the hotel’s culinary and service offerings to new heights. 

A seasoned hospitality professional, Mr. Tiwari has built an impressive career with renowned global  brands such as Marriott International, Accor, and Taj Hotels. Recognized for his strategic expertise and  operational excellence, he has a strong track record in financial planning, cost control optimization, and  driving consistent revenue growth through innovative F&B concepts and service enhancements. 

Before joining Courtyard Shillong, Mr. Tiwari held key leadership positions across prestigious  establishments, showcasing his expertise in pre-opening operations, restaurant management, and guest  service excellence.

Having worked with prominent hospitality brands like Renaissance Ahmedabad, Sodexo by Google, and Fairfield by Marriott Pune Kharadi, Kalpesh's expertise spans menu planning, inventory management, and team motivation.
   
   
   

2. Lalmuankimi Khawlhring – Assistant Manager, Spa & Recreation
   Lalmuankimi brings extensive experience in spa and wellness, having worked with esteemed brands such as Le Meridien Coimbatore, The O Hotel Goa, and The Westin Pune. 3. Shiva Kumar Kaave – Chief Engineer

   With over 21 years of financial leadership in the hospitality industry, Deepak has held pivotal roles in Marriott, Hilton, and Le Meridien properties across India. His strategic financial management will play a critical role in driving the hotel’s fiscal growth.

Courtyard by Marriott Shillong appoints Nipu Kalita as Associate Director of Sales.

Courtyard by Marriott Shillong proudly announces the appointment of Nipu Kalita as its Associate Director of Sales. With an illustrious career spanning over a decade in the hospitality industry, Nipu brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role. In his current capacity, Nipu will be responsible for overseeing and leading a dynamic team to achieve sales & revenue goals for Courtyard by Marriott Shillong.  

Prior to joining Courtyard by Marriott Shillong, Nipu served as the Head of Sales and Marketing at Vivanta Meghalaya Shillong where he spearheaded the sales team, driving exceptional results. He has also worked with Vivanta Guwahati, The Park Hyderabad, Marriott Hyderabad & Taj Hotels Hyderabad amongst others.

Courtyard by Marriott Shillong proudly announces the appointment of James Muntode as its new Operations Manager, marking a significant step towards enhancing guest experiences and operational efficiency.

With an illustrious career spanning 18 years in the hospitality industry, James brings a wealth of expertise to his new role. His leadership acumen, coupled with a fervent dedication to elevating customer satisfaction, promises to redefine excellence at Courtyard by Marriott Shillong.

Holding a prestigious post-graduate degree in hospitality from Ealing & Hammersmith College, London, James has honed his skills at renowned hotels including Courtyard by Marriott, The Westin, The Tower Hotel, and Le Meridien. His diverse background equips him with a good understanding of the industry's operations and challenges.

As Operations Manager, James will spearhead efforts in revenue management, cost control, and market share expansion, leveraging his profound insights to drive the hotel's success. His strategic vision will underpin initiatives aimed at elevating service standards and fostering enduring relationships with stakeholders.

Outside of his professional endeavors, James finds joy in cherishing moments with his family, indulging his passion for travel, and embarking on culinary adventures to explore diverse cuisines.

Chef Sankha Dasmahapatra appointed as the Executive Chef at Courtyard by Marriott Shillong.

With over a decade of culinary experience, Chef Sankha Dasmahapatra is an experienced Executive Sous Chef with a demonstrated history of working in the Hospitality Industry and has been appointed as the Executive Chef at Courtyard by Marriott Shillong.

With a passion for cooking, Chef Sankha Dasmahapatra has earned his bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management from Annamalai University. He has an incredible line of work with leading hospitality chains like JW Marriott Kolkata, JW Marriott Chandigarh, JW Marriott Mussoorie, Taj Fort Aguada Resort & Spa, Goa, Hyatt Regency Delhi and Hyatt Regency Kolkata to name a few. His last assignment was with Raffles Udaipur as an Executive Sous Chef.

Chef Sankha’s extensive knowledge of all facets of hotel operations, remarkable leadership capabilities, strong record in refining banquet operations and restaurant management while maintaining the highest quality standards have all contributed to his exponential success

During his career, he has added several honors to his merit, “Legend of the month”- Month of April -2019 (JW Marriott Kolkata), 2019- Times Food Guide Awards (JW Kitchen), Awarded with the prestigious award Best “Hyatt Culinary Employee” in India, Month of November – 2013 by The Executive Chef Marin Leuthard (Hyatt Regency Delhi). Chef Sankha’s culinary expertise ranges from Thai, Indian to Italian cuisines.

Chef Sankha is an avid traveller who also enjoys music in his spare time.

Tushar Nagar is the new General Manager of Courtyard by Marriott Shillong – Marriott International

With over 14 years of combined experience across Operations Management, Quality Management, Training and  Development, Client Management, and Team Leadership, Mr. Tushar Nagar has been appointed as General  Manager at Courtyard by Marriott Shillong, the debut property of Marriott International in the North East region of India..

In this present role, Tushar will don an all-encompassing role and will be responsible for the hotel’s overall performance in addition to front-lining all conversations and shaping the hotel as a leading benchmark in the hospitality industry. His expertise lies in defining operating procedures and service standards, as well as optimizing procurements to enhance the output efficiency of the hotel. 

Tushar has climbed the corporate ladder and has held multiple positions at top-tier hospitality brands after acquiring industrial exposure at Le Meridien Jaipur. He has pursued a Diploma in Hotel Management from IHM  Varanasi and B.Com from Jagatpur PG College, Varanasi. He has served various touted brands like The Oberoi  Amarvilas Agra, JW Marriott Chandigarh, Park Hyatt Chennai, Hyatt Regency Ludhiana, The Westin Pune and  Marriott International.  

He enjoys a great track record and excels in varied roles inclusive of operations, health & safety concerns, training  & development, and futuristic planning. He has displayed paramount efforts in setting up & rolling out successful quality management in service environments, overachieving expectations and exceeding all set goals by enduring customer relationships. He has excelled in achieving the delivery of the highest quality of services & performance standards by providing thought leadership on all operational aspects and reviewing performance, systems, and processes to ensure smooth and hassle-free operations. He is a quick learner with strong adaptability to details which makes him keep going and growing.
