Pink Adrak Secures Strategic Backing from String Ventures’ Shivam Mishra; Targets ₹55 Crore Revenue by 2028

March, 2026, INDIA : Pink Adrak, an emerging next‑generation Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) platform from India, has secured strategic backing from Shivam Mishra, Founder of String Ventures, following its appearance on Bharat ke Super Founders. Founded with the vision of building a platform-led food services company, Pink Adrak currently operates 12 outlets across Gurugram and Jaipur. The brand has served over 1.5 lakh customers and delivered more than 5 lakh orders, while maintaining a 4.6 average rating across food delivery platforms.

Pink Adrak’s model integrates six proprietary culinary formats within a single operational ecosystem, allowing the company to diversify menus, optimise kitchen infrastructure, and deliver stronger unit economics. The platform combines dine‑in, delivery, and subscription-led consumption through its proprietary app along with marketplace integrations across Zomato and Swiggy.

With fresh strategic backing, Pink Adrak plans to expand to 50 outlets while targeting ₹55 crore in revenue by 2028.

As part of its next growth phase, the company will launch a Fresh Meal Vending Cafe, a lightweight format designed for corporate campuses, educational institutions, and high-footfall transit locations. Pink Adrak is also scaling its subscription-led Pink Adrak Pass, aimed at building daily consumer engagement and predictable recurring demand.

Additionally, the brand plans to expand into desserts, beverages, and FMCG categories, creating multiple omnichannel consumption touchpoints across physical outlets, direct-to-consumer channels, and marketplace platforms.

Under the ‘Aai’ Policy, women tourists and entrepreneurs will receive special benefits

Mumbai, March: Tourism is one of the fastest-growing sectors, and to increase women’s participation in this field, the State Government and the Maharashtra Tourism Department have implemented several policies. One of their key initiatives is the ‘AAI’ Policy, launched to empower women across the state and boost tourism. Under this policy, women are offered multiple opportunities to develop business and leadership skills within the tourism sector.

The policy offers interest-free loans of up to ₹15 lakh and an interest-reimbursement facility for seven years to women entrepreneurs looking to start a tourism business. The response to the initiative has been good. As part of the initiative, 4,200 applications have been received, indicating high interest among women entrepreneurs. Out of these 4,200 applications, 3,292 Letters of Intent have been generated, which is a good achievement for any government initiative.

As part of the initiative, 900 loans have been sanctioned, amounting to ₹72.49 crore. In addition, ₹1.67 crore has been sanctioned for interest reimbursement, indicating that the government is financially supporting women entrepreneurs. The policy is receiving a larger-than-life response from the Konkan, Pune, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, and Nashik divisions.

The five pillars of the ‘Aai’ Tourism Policy are promoting women's entrepreneurship, developing infrastructure for women, ensuring the safety of women tourists, providing customised services and concessions for women tourists, and promoting tourism in general. Tourism has the potential to be an important driver of the progress of women in the country. Keeping that in view, the ‘Aai’ Tourism Policy has provided a number of incentives for the development of women entrepreneurship.

According to the ‘Aai’ Tourism Policy, in every taluka of the state, up to ten tourism-related business enterprises owned and run by women, registered with the Directorate of Tourism, will be provided support for the interest on loans of up to ₹15 lakh taken from any bank. The interest amount will be directly transferred by the government to the Aadhaar-linked bank account of the women entrepreneurs, at a maximum rate of 12%. This support will be provided for a maximum of seven years, whichever is earlier: until the loan is fully paid or ₹4.5 lakh is reached. Certain conditions will be applicable in this regard.

To qualify for the loan, the tourism business must be registered with the Directorate of Tourism and owned and operated by a woman. In the case of women-owned tour and travel agencies, at least 50% of the employees must be women. The business must also have the required licenses and permits, and the loan instalments must be paid regularly.

As per the ‘Aai’ policy, female employees working in tourism businesses registered with the Directorate, such as female tour guides, female drivers, and female tour operators, will be registered under insurance schemes conducted by the central or state government. The government will pay the insurance premiums for the first five years.

A 20% discount on tourism circuits and packages arranged through tour operators of the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation would be provided to women tourists. In addition, a 50% discount would be provided to all women tourists on online bookings for MTDC resorts and units on 23 specified dates throughout the year, including March 1 to 8, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, and on 22 other specified dates throughout the year.

Special tours for senior women citizens, women with disabilities, women-only one-day city tours, adventure tours, trekking tours, etc., would also be arranged. Facilities for women tourists: Stalls would be provided to women’s self-help groups to sell handicrafts, artworks, and food products at properties of the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation. Other facilities would include rooms near elevators for elderly or differently-abled women, special recreational facilities, childcare for women tourists with children up to five years of age, etc.

Under the women-centric and gender-inclusive ‘Aai’ Tourism Policy, women entrepreneurs can opt for a variety of tourism-related businesses, including agro-tourism ventures, eateries, restaurants, cafes, homestays, tourism villas, adventure tourism ventures, houseboats, and more. This way, the policy aims to boost the economic empowerment of women and the tourism sector as a whole.

Five-Star Hotel Project in Silchar; Polo Hotels Group to Develop First Luxury Property in Barak Valley

Silchar, March, 2026: In a major boost to hospitality infrastructure in Southern Assam, the Assam Cabinet has approved the development of Silchar’s first five-star hotel, to be built by Polo Hotels Group with an investment of approximately ₹103 crore. The announcement marks a significant step towards strengthening the tourism, business, and events ecosystem of the Barak Valley.

Announcing the decision, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam said, “Today, our cabinet has given a go ahead to construct a Five Star hotel in Silchar, to Polo Hotels Group. The Polo Hotels Group will be spending around 103 crore rupees on this project. This is going to be the first five-star hotel in Silchar.”

The project will introduce international-standard luxury hospitality infrastructure to the Barak Valley for the first time, positioning Silchar, the commercial and administrative hub of Southern Assam, to host high-value travel, corporate engagements, and large-scale events.

International-Standard Hospitality Infrastructure

The proposed luxury hotel will feature 100 premium rooms and suites, designed to meet global hospitality benchmarks while reflecting the cultural character of the Barak Valley.

Key facilities will include multiple specialty restaurants and bars, a resort-style swimming pool, a full-service spa and wellness centre, a modern fitness facility, and state-of-the-art banquet and conference infrastructure capable of hosting corporate summits, exhibitions, weddings, and government events.

Industry analysts note that India’s hospitality sector has witnessed a strong rebound in recent years. According to tourism estimates, India recorded more than 2.3 billion domestic tourist visits in 2023, while demand for MICE tourism (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) has expanded rapidly across emerging regional cities.

Expansion Strategy of Polo Hotels Group

The Silchar project is therefore expected to create substantial direct and indirect employment opportunities, while supporting local businesses, producers, and service providers across the Barak Valley.

Once operational, the hotel is expected to establish a new benchmark for luxury hospitality in Southern Assam, enabling Silchar to host national-level conferences, policy meetings, corporate gatherings, and destination events that were previously constrained by the lack of premium accommodation facilities. 

The development also reflects a broader shift in India’s hospitality landscape, where emerging regional cities are increasingly becoming the next frontier for tourism and business travel infrastructure.

SAMHI Announces Majority Investment in RARE India, its first asset light and experiential leisure investment

Gurugram, March 2026: SAMHI Hotels Limited a prominent branded hotel ownership and asset management platform in India, today announced that its board has approved the acquisition of majority stake of 70% in RARE India (“RARE”), one of India’s earliest and largest platform of heritage hotels, retreats and experiential stays. SAMHI expects to enter into definitive agreements by May 2026, marking SAMHI’s entry into the experiential leisure segment through an asset-light platform investment.

In parallel, SAMHI and RARE have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding for an affiliation with Marriott International to leverage Marriott’s global distribution strength and loyalty ecosystem. Under this affiliation, RARE would have exclusive rights to operate its portfolio of hotels under the Outdoor Collection brand by Marriott Bonvoy across India, Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka, with distribution across Marriott’s worldwide channels. SAMHI expects to enter into definitive agreements with Marriott after the acquisition is complete.

Together, this relationship positions RARE to evolve from a representation platform into a fully integrated B2C distribution and experiential brand platform. RARE will continue to be operated independently by its Founder and team, who remain committed to curate and nurture its distinctive community of heritage and experiential property owners. The structure ensures a small capital exposure with asymmetrical return potential as the strategy is asset light, and significant long-term upside driven by distribution expansion, technology integration and brand strengthening.

Airbnb highlights how Indian women shaped travel trends in 2025

National, March, 2026: This International Women’s Day, Airbnb is celebrating the growing community of women hosts and travellers who are driving hospitality and travel trends across India. Nearly 30% of Airbnb hosts in India are women, and they manage almost 35% of Guest Favourite listings, highlighting their impact in delivering exceptional guest experiences and shaping local tourism.

Embracing this year’s theme, ‘Give to Gain’, Airbnb recognizes the role women play in strengthening communities through hosting and travel. By sharing their homes, culture and local knowledge, women hosts are creating economic opportunities not only for themselves but also for their communities.

Highlighting Airbnb’s commitment to enabling women entrepreneurs across India, Amanpreet Singh Bajaj, Airbnb’s Country Head for India and Southeast Asia, said “Women who host are not just building successful businesses, but also strengthening local economies and communities. When women share their homes, skills and stories, they create opportunities not just for themselves, but for others around them. In turn, guests contribute to local livelihoods, helping circulate value deeper into communities. When women thrive, entire communities benefit.”

Beyond hosting, Indian women travelers are also increasingly shaping travel trends on Airbnb. Duo travel followed by small group trips remained the most popular trip type amongst Indian women travelers. In terms of destinations, internationally Dubai, London, Bangkok, Paris, Ubud, Amsterdam, Tokyo and Rome were the most searched destinations for Indian women travelers in 2025. Domestically, North and South Goa, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Jaipur, Gurugram, and Pune District were the most searched destinations.

Beyond established hotspots, women travellers are increasingly exploring emerging and culturally rich destinations. Dakshina Kannada and Mathura both recorded approximately 50% year-on-year increase in bookings, signalling rising interest in spiritual, heritage and nature-led travel. Internationally, the town of Kazbegi in Georgia recorded an over 100% year-on-year increase in bookings on Airbnb.

This growing momentum toward emerging and off-beat destinations reflects a broader shift among women travellers toward more intentional, experience-led journeys,  where travel not only creates personal memories but also supports local communities and smaller tourism ecosystems.

Airbnb has also been working to strengthen this ecosystem through initiatives such as the Airbnb Entrepreneurship Academy in Goa, the first of its kind in India. The program equips aspiring homestay entrepreneurs with skills in hospitality, business fundamentals and sustainable hosting, with a dedicated focus on empowering women and supporting rural communities. Many of the organizations in India receiving donations from the Airbnb Community Fund this year also work to advance opportunities for women. 

Sharing her journey, Babita, a Host in Uttarakhand who upskilled through the Airbnb Entrepreneurship Academy, said, “Before the Airbnb Academy training, we were running a homestay without really knowing how. Airbnb taught us important skills like how to register, how to host, and how to share our culture. It gave me the confidence to grow my small idea into a sustainable livelihood .”

This International Women’s Day, Airbnb continues its commitment to creating more inclusive opportunities for women. Through hosting and travel, women across India are helping build stronger local economies while contributing to a more diverse and resilient tourism landscape.
