Tripadvisor’s latest study, “Beyond COVID-19: The Road to Recovery for the Travel Industry,” outlines a five-stage recovery for the travel and hospitality industry: Decline, Plateau, Emerge, Domestic Travel, and finally, a return to International Travel.

The study shows the world is still hungry for travel: More than two-thirds of travelers (68%) reported they were already thinking about where they want to go next.

Tripadvisor also suggests that operators “throw out the rule book,” and adopt a test and learn approach.

At Least Half of Pubs Will Never Reopen After COVID-19, U.K. Hospitality Union Says

The U.K. hospitality industry is worth about £100 billion ($127.7 billion) to the British economy or, more accurately, it was before COVID-19 hit.

The schedule for reopening bars and restaurants is different depending on the country within the U.K. In Scotland and Wales, no firm date has been given, July 20 is the date in Northern Ireland and in England, it gets even more complicated.

Fast-food restaurant chain LEON has been running a "Feed Britain" campaign, for example, where food boxes can be ordered for delivery, and other restaurants are relying on delivery services Deliveroo or Uber Eats.

Campus Reopening: EHL Becomes the World’s Best-Equipped Hospitality School for a Digital Future

After two months of campus closure and confinement, EHL Group announces the reopening of its campuses

In order to ensure the best conditions for the return to the campus, the School has put in place a complete disinfection plan and has reviewed all its teaching methods, technologies, and on-site facilities.

Country overview: 70,000 new rooms planned across the UAE

In 2020, 72 new hotel projects are scheduled to open in the UAE, adding 25,667 rooms to its extensive hotel offering. Then another 71 hotels will open their doors in 2021, bringing 19,667 more rooms.

Dubai is the fastest-growing city for hotel development across the UAE. 161 new hotels with 51,460 rooms are planned in the emirate, further expanding an already well-established market.

The largest ongoing project in the country is the refurbishment of the 1,539-room Atlantis The Palm Dubai, which is due to complete this year

Urbanica scores approval for new hotel in North Beach

The Miami Beach Historic Preservation Board approved Urbanica Management’s plans to construct an 11-story, 209-room hotel with a 104-seat restaurant and a 91-space garage at 6747 Collins Avenue.

Robot chef arms trained to make delicious omelettes

Sri Lanka to open Borders for Tourists on 1st August with 100$ Visa Fee, Minimum 5 Days Stay and COVID Test on Arrival

From August 1, 2020, the following airports; Bandaranaike International Airport [BIA], Colombo Ratmalana Airport [RMA], and Mattala Rajapaksa Hambantota Airport [MRIA] will resume operations to greet tourist arrivals.

According to visa procedures, all travelers will require a valid visa; this will be issued for 30 days and extendable for up to 6 months after arrival. Tourists are required to stay a minimum of 5-nights in Sri Lanka. Travelers staying for more than 10 days will be required to take a third test during their stay.

Hospitality industry calls for two-metre social distancing rule to be halved

Actioning advice from the World Health Organisation to use one meter for social distancing from July would enable many more pubs to viably reopen and serve their communities again.

UK Hospitality Chief Executive Kate Nicholls told BBC Radio 4'sToday program: "At two meters you are receiving 30 percent of your normal revenues, at one meter it gets up to 70 percent - so it is the difference between success and failure for many of those businesses.

The reopening of venues is expected to begin from July 4 in England and the Government is expected to publish its guidelines
