Air India goes digital to manage its widebody Boeing fleet

DGCA approves use of Electronic Technical Logbooks (ETL) for the B787, B777 fleet

ELT to boost operational performance, enhance sustainability with paperless documentation

Air India has taken yet another step forward in its transformation journey with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) approving the use of Electronic Technical Logbooks (ETL) as the primary technical document for its Boeing 787 fleet and authorising parallel implementation across the Boeing 777 fleet. This will boost Air India’s commitment to leveraging technology to strengthen operational performance, safety, reliability, and sustainability and position it as a technology-enabled, modern global airline.

With this approval, Air India has now become one of the first airlines to adopt fleet-wide Electronic Technical Logbooks across its entire B787 widebody fleet, to achieve a complete fleet-wide ETL implementation.

The Electronic Technical Logbook replaces traditional paper-based maintenance records with a secure digital platform, enabling faster, more accurate, and more efficient management of aircraft maintenance and engineering activities. The digital system provides real-time information sharing between maintenance engineers, and operational teams, improving coordination, accelerating defect reporting and rectification, and enhancing aircraft dispatch reliability.

The ETL platform also delivers enhanced data integrity, traceability, and regulatory compliance while providing advanced analytics that support predictive maintenance and informed engineering decision-making. In addition, the paperless system significantly reduces paper consumption, supporting Air India’s sustainability objectives.

Commenting on the development, Jeremy Yew Jin Kit, Senior Vice President – Engineering & Maintenance, Air India, said: “The implementation of Electronic Technical Logbooks across our widebody Boeing fleet reaffirms the collaborative work involving engineering, flight operations, digital technology teams, OEM partners and the regulator. Replacing paper-based processes with real-time digital information, we are improving operational efficiency, strengthening maintenance governance, enhancing regulatory compliance and enabling faster decision-making across our engineering and operations teams.”

The achievement reflects Air India’s continued investment in digital technologies to modernise engineering and maintenance operations while maintaining the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance. It is a key step in the airline’s broader vision of building a world-class, data-driven aviation business that excels in operational performance and customer service.

India’s Hospitality Industry Needs More Skilled Professionals Than Ever Author: Dr. Vivek Pathak, Founder Director, NIPS Institute of Hotel Management

Behind every memorable hotel stay, seamless event, exceptional dining experience and warm guest interaction stands a skilled hospitality professional. As India’s tourism and hospitality sector enters a new phase of growth, the industry’s biggest requirement is no longer only infrastructure, investment or new properties. It is skilled human talent.

The numbers clearly show the opportunity. According to TeamLease, hospitality-sector hiring in the apprentice and trainee category increased by 271% over two years, while overall apprentice and trainee hiring grew at a CAGR of 54%. The Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council’s Skill Gap Study has also projected that India’s hospitality sector will require nearly 3 million additional skilled professionals by 2028.

This demand should be seen not merely as a manpower challenge, but as one of the biggest career opportunities for India’s youth.

Hospitality Is No Longer a Limited Career

For today’s students, hospitality is no longer restricted to hotels alone. A trained hospitality professional can build a career in hotels, resorts, restaurants, cruise lines, airlines, airport hospitality, luxury retail, events, tourism, healthcare hospitality, facility management, guest relations, customer experience and international service sectors.

This makes hospitality one of the most versatile career pathways after Class 12. It is a field where a young student can begin with practical training in India and, with the right skill, grooming and attitude, move towards national and international career opportunities.

The world is increasingly looking at India as a strong talent base for hospitality. Indian students are known for adaptability, warmth, service attitude and willingness to learn. If they are trained properly, they can become part of the global hospitality workforce across hotels, cruise lines, airlines and premium service industries.

The Industry Needs Skills, Not Just Degrees

The modern hospitality industry does not need only degree holders. It needs employable professionals.

Hotels, restaurants, airlines, cruise companies and service-led businesses are looking for young people who can communicate well, present themselves professionally, understand guest expectations, solve problems, work in teams, handle pressure and maintain service standards.

Technical knowledge is important, but it is not enough. A student must also develop confidence, grooming, discipline, punctuality, emotional intelligence, cultural sensitivity and a positive service mindset.

This is where hospitality education has to evolve. Institutes can no longer depend only on classroom teaching. Students must be exposed to real hotel operations, practical training, internships, mock interviews, group discussions, role-plays, guest handling situations, culinary fundamentals, hygiene standards and industry interactions.

New Careers Are Changing the Hospitality Landscape

The hospitality industry itself is changing rapidly. Traditional roles such as chefs, front office executives, housekeeping professionals and food and beverage service teams remain extremely important. But new-age roles are also emerging.

Revenue management, digital marketing, guest experience management, wellness hospitality, MICE planning, luxury service, sustainability, food entrepreneurship, cruise hospitality, aviation hospitality and customer-experience leadership are becoming important career areas.

This means the future hospitality professional must be more than technically trained. They must understand business, technology, guest psychology, communication and service excellence.

Technology is also changing how hotels operate. Artificial intelligence, booking platforms, customer relationship management systems, digital payments, data-led revenue management and automation are becoming part of daily hotel operations. But technology will not remove the need for people. It will increase the need for better-trained people.

Machines can support service, but they cannot replace warmth, empathy, cultural understanding, personal attention and relationship-building. Hospitality will always remain a human-centric industry.

Retention Is Also a Skill Challenge

Another major challenge for the industry is talent retention. Hospitality professionals develop transferable skills that are valued across aviation, retail, customer experience, luxury brands, FMCG, facility management and corporate services.

If the hospitality sector wants to retain skilled professionals, employers must focus on better working environments, clear career progression, continuous learning, leadership development and respect for frontline talent.

A skilled hospitality professional should not be seen as easily replaceable manpower. They are the face of the guest experience. Their confidence, behaviour and attitude directly shape the reputation of a brand.

Preparing the Next Generation

India has a huge opportunity to become a global hospitality talent hub. But that will happen only when industry and educational institutions work together.

Hospitality education must focus on transforming students. Many young students enter hospitality education after Class 12 with limited exposure, hesitation in communication and uncertainty about their future. The role of an institute is to build their confidence, sharpen their skills, improve their personality and prepare them for real industry expectations.

At NIPS Institute of Hotel Management, our focus has always been to prepare students not just for a job, but for a career. Practical training, grooming, communication development, internships, expert sessions, industry exposure and interview preparation are essential parts of making students industry-ready.

The aim is to help students understand that hospitality is not a small or limited career. It is a global career platform. It can take them to hotels, cruise lines, aviation, luxury services, tourism, events and international hospitality opportunities.

The Road Ahead

India’s hospitality industry is growing, and the demand for skilled professionals will only increase in the coming years. But the future will belong to those who are prepared — students who are confident, disciplined, service-oriented, skilled, adaptable and ready to learn.

The next generation must understand that hospitality is not just about serving guests. It is about creating experiences, representing culture, solving problems, leading teams and building careers across the world.

If India can skill its youth properly, the hospitality sector can become one of the country’s strongest engines of employment, entrepreneurship and global career mobility.

Suggested Quote

“India’s hospitality industry does not only need more people; it needs skilled, confident and globally employable professionals. The next generation must understand that hospitality is not a limited career. It can open doors to hotels, cruise lines, aviation, luxury services, tourism, events, and international opportunities. But aspiration must be matched with skill, discipline, communication, and a service attitude. At NIPS, our effort is to prepare students not just for their first job, but for long-term global careers in hospitality.”

The Hari Art Prize 2026: Celebrating Hong Kong's Next Generation of Artists By Hospemag

Luxury hospitality and contemporary art came together once again as The Hari Hong Kong announced the winners of the third annual The Hari Art Prize 2026, celebrating some of Hong Kong's most exciting emerging artistic voices.

With nearly 700 applications—the highest number in the competition's history—the 2026 edition demonstrates the growing importance of The Hari Art Prize as a platform supporting young artists, recent graduates and self-taught creatives across Hong Kong.

At the heart of this year's celebration was sculptor Man Mei To, whose powerful work Curly Breathing I earned the top honour and the HK$100,000 cash prize, donated by Dr. Aron Harilela, CEO and Chairman of Harilela Hotels Limited and founder of The Hari Hong Kong.

A Sculpture About Healing, Breath and Human Resilience

Crafted from African padauk wood, oil and stainless steel, Curly Breathing I captivated judges with its organic forms and emotional depth.

According to Dr. Aron Harilela, the sculpture reflects "fragility and resilience amid forces beyond our control," tracing cycles of transformation, survival and healing while encouraging viewers to reconnect with the body's unseen rhythms.

But behind the sculpture lies an intensely personal story.

Speaking to Hospemag, Man Mei To explained that the artwork was inspired by breathing exercises and years of research into body movement.

"The fragmented, curling forms capture the hidden currents of chi and the tangled emotions inside the body," she says. "They represent releasing accumulated pressure, relearning the rhythm of breathing, and letting go of sadness and anxiety."

The sculpture evolved from collaborations with dancers, body casting, and later 3D scanning techniques that allowed her to capture movement and transform it into sculptural forms.

"I kept folding and reshaping these movements until they eventually became the sculptures people see today."

Winning the prize came as a complete surprise.

After completing her MFA at London's Slade School of Fine Art, Man says she faced countless rejections while applying for grants and exhibitions.

"I had almost zero expectations," she admits. "Receiving this recognition felt like a gesture of warmth during a very challenging time."

Her advice to aspiring artists is refreshingly honest:

"Calling yourself an artist is easy. Using your voice to speak about the world's issues is much harder. If you choose this path, you must be prepared to dedicate your passion to art for a lifetime."

Runner-Up: Katrina Leigh Mendoza Raimann Finds Beauty in Everyday Nature

One of this year's runners-up, Katrina Leigh Mendoza Raimann, was recognised for her textile artwork Small Stepping (2022), created from burlap, wool and cotton yarn.

Inspired by moss and algae growing along a quiet riverside walk, the artwork transforms overlooked moments in nature into expressive abstract forms.

"The piece is rooted in the emotional terrain of everyday life," she explains. "Like moss held still within flowing water, my work captures memories and emotions that continue changing even while frozen in time."

Entirely handmade, the work combines embroidery, knotting, crochet, tufting and sculpting techniques to create its rich carpet-like surface.

Interestingly, this was Katrina's first international competition.

"Being shortlisted and becoming runner-up was an amazing experience. It's an honour to exhibit alongside such talented artists in Hong Kong."

Her advice is beautifully simple:

"Keep making work, regardless of exhibitions or shows. Your work reflects your life, your emotions and your thoughts."

Runner-Up: Ailsa Wong Explores Digital Painting Beyond Traditional Boundaries

Joining Katrina as runner-up was Ailsa Wong, whose archival inkjet print Lightning impressed judges with its atmospheric composition and experimental digital language.

Created entirely on an iPad, the work explores textures, glitches and fragmented digital layers that cannot exist in traditional painting.

"Rather than delivering a fixed meaning, I want viewers to discover their own interpretations," Wong says. "The work reflects contemporary life shaped by digital environments while remaining emotionally open."

She believes digital art deserves equal recognition alongside more traditional mediums.

"I'm especially happy that a digital painting was selected. The award encourages me to continue taking creative risks."

For Wong, art has the power to transform hospitality spaces.

"A hotel is often a place of movement and transition. Art can interrupt that flow, creating moments of reflection that guests remember long after they leave."

More Than an Art Prize

Alongside the winners, sixteen additional finalists were selected, representing painting, sculpture, photography, installation, textiles and mixed media.

The judging panel brought together leaders from the worlds of hospitality, galleries, luxury brands and publishing, including representatives from White Cube, CHANEL, TASCHEN, Ben Brown Fine Arts and A Space for Art.

The Hari Hong Kong: Where Hospitality Meets Contemporary Art

The Hari Hong Kong has steadily established itself as one of Asia's most distinctive art hotels.

Rather than simply displaying artwork, the hotel integrates contemporary art into the guest experience. Public spaces, guest areas and lounges feature carefully curated exhibitions developed in partnership with London's A Space for Art, allowing guests to discover museum-quality works throughout their stay.

The hotel also hosts The Hari Art Prize and The Hari Chronicles, an ongoing programme of conversations celebrating art, design, culture and Hong Kong's creative community.

Until October 2026, guests can view works by the winning artists and finalists throughout the hotel, turning a stay at The Hari into an immersive cultural experience where hospitality and creativity exist side by side.

A Growing Platform for Emerging Talent

The record-breaking number of submissions this year reflects the growing reputation of The Hari Art Prize as one of Hong Kong's most meaningful opportunities for emerging artists.

Beyond the prize money, it offers something equally valuable—visibility, encouragement and the chance to connect with collectors, curators, guests and the wider creative community.

As Man Mei To reflected after receiving the award, recognition can sometimes arrive when artists least expect it. For many creatives navigating an increasingly competitive landscape, that encouragement may be the greatest prize of all.

Malaysia Airlines has expanded its China network with the launch of new direct services from Kuala Lumpur to Shenzhen (SZX) and Changsha (CSX), strengthening its presence in what is now its second-largest international market by number of destinations. The strategic expansion reflects the growing demand for travel between Malaysia and China, driven by stronger economic partnerships and increasing interest in both leisure and business travel, enabling the national carrier to tap into a broader and more diversified segment of the Chinese market.

The expansion commenced with the inaugural flight MH522 to Shenzhen, which departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) Terminal 1 on 1 July 2026 at 9:05 pm local time. The return service, flight MH523, departed Shenzhen for Kuala Lumpur at 2:45 am local time on 2 July 2026.

Both routes operate with a frequency of up to seven weekly flights using the Boeing 737-8 aircraft, providing travellers with greater connectivity and flexibility between Malaysia and China.

Bryan Foong, Chief Executive Officer of Airline Business at Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), said, “The launch of our services to Shenzhen and Changsha marks a proud milestone in our continuous efforts to expand our network across China. By connecting Kuala Lumpur to these high-growth regional hubs, we are offering travellers greater convenience and flexibility while supporting stronger business, tourism and people-to-people ties between our two countries. As we welcome more visitors under the Visit Malaysia 2026 banner, this expansion also brings us closer to our vision of positioning Kuala Lumpur as a premier gateway to Asia and beyond.”

The new services support Malaysia’s tourism ambitions by leveraging the mutual visa-free arrangements while reinforcing Kuala Lumpur’s role as a key regional aviation hub.

With the introduction of Shenzhen and Changsha, Malaysia Airlines now serves nine gateways across China, including Beijing (PKX), Shanghai (PVG), Guangzhou (CAN), Xiamen (XMN), Hong Kong (HKG), Taipei (TPE), and Chengdu (TFU), further strengthening its regional network.

To celebrate the new routes, Malaysia Airlines is offering special all-in return introductory fares starting from MYR 1,088. The promotional fares are available for purchase until 8 August 2026, giving travellers the opportunity to plan their next business or leisure getaway.

Grand Memorial of Veer Jivaji Mahale to be Built at the Foothills of Pratapgad Fort; ₹1 Crore Allocated in the First Phase – Tourism Minister Shambhuraj Desai

Mumbai, July : A grand memorial dedicated to Veer Jivaji Mahale will be constructed at the foothills of Pratapgad Fort following the decision of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. An initial allocation of ₹1 crore has been made for the first phase of the project. Tourism Minister Shambhuraj Desai made this announcement while presenting a statement in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly today.

Minister Desai said that during Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's recent visit to Mahabaleshwar, several organisations devoted to the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had demanded the construction of a memorial to Veer Jivaji Mahale. Following discussions with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, it has been decided to construct a grand memorial at the foothills of Pratapgad through the Tourism Department.

Minister Desai stated that the Hindavi Swarajya established by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj symbolises valour, self-respect and sacrifice. During the historic Battle of Pratapgad, Veer Jivaji Mahale displayed exceptional courage, presence of mind and bravery, saving the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The immortal saying, “Hota Jiva Mhanun Vachla Shiva” (Had Jiva not been there, Shiva would not have survived), stands as a timeless testament to his unparalleled heroism.

Every year on November 10, Shiv Pratap Din is celebrated with great enthusiasm at Pratapgad Fort. Lakhs of devotees of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, historians, students and tourists from India and abroad visit the fort to participate in the celebrations. Minister Desai noted that this has consistently enhanced Pratapgad's historical and tourism significance.

For several years, social organisations, historians, Shivaji devotees and public representatives have been demanding a memorial for Veer Jivaji Mahale. Taking note of these long-standing demands, the State Government has decided to construct a grand and aesthetically designed memorial on land belonging to the Tourism Department. An amount of ₹1 crore has been approved for the first phase of the project, the Minister informed the House.

Minister Desai expressed confidence that the memorial would provide a major boost to Shivkalin heritage tourism at Pratapgad. It will further strengthen Pratapgad's identity on Maharashtra's tourism map and emerge as another major attraction for visitors from across India and the world.

Air India ranks among the world’s top 5 most on-time global airlines

Air India has been ranked the 4th most on-time airline in the world in June 2026 by aviation analytics firm Cirium, underscoring the airline's continued focus on operational reliability and schedule integrity.

According to Cirium's June 2026 On-Time Performance report, Air India recorded an on-time arrival rate of 86.85% across 15,135 flights tracked during the month. The airline also posted an on-time departure rate of 86.23% and a completion factor of 99.7%, meaning virtually all scheduled flights operated as planned.

The ranking reflects Air India’s sustained investments in operational resilience, improved network planning, and enhanced execution across its domestic and international operations.

As a hub-and-spoke network carrier operating a large number of domestic and international connections through India's two largest airports, Delhi and Mumbai, Air India manages significant operational complexity. The airline's operations can be impacted by congestion and air traffic control restrictions at these busy airports, which often have a cascading effect across the network.

Over time, Air India has introduced a range of measures to strengthen schedule reliability and deliver a more consistent travel experience for its customers. These include improving departure punctuality, streamlining aircraft turnaround processes, enhancing real-time network monitoring, and enabling faster operational decision-making across the airline.

The airline has also focused on building greater operational resilience through robust contingency planning, enhanced cross-functional coordination, and maintaining the operational flexibility needed to respond effectively to unforeseen disruptions such as weather events, airspace restrictions, airport congestion, or technical issues. These efforts help minimise the impact of disruptions, support network stability, and ensure customers reach their destinations with greater reliability.

Air India’s improving operational performance complements its broader transformation efforts underway, encompassing fleet modernisation, customer experience enhancements, digital innovation, and the strengthening of global connectivity through its growing hub-and-spoke network.

Ongoing fleet modernization efforts

As part of its transformation, Air India is undertaking one of the world's largest fleet renewal programmes, having placed orders for 600 new Airbus and Boeing aircraft, while simultaneously modernising its existing fleet. The airline has inducted three new Boeing 787-9 aircraft over the last six months, with additional Boeing 787-9s and Airbus A350-1000s scheduled to join the fleet later in 2026.

In parallel, Air India is progressing with the retrofit of its legacy widebody fleet. Two of its 26 legacy Boeing 787-8 aircraft featuring completely refreshed interiors have already returned to service, while three more are currently undergoing upgrades in the United States.

By the end of 2026, more than 50% of Air India's widebody fleet is expected to feature new or upgraded interiors, significantly enhancing the customer experience across the airline's long-haul network.

SATTE Marks a Milestone with Launch of the Exhibitions Industry’s First-Ever Independent Economic Impact Report, Developed with EY

Report launched by Shri Suman Billa IAS, Additional Secretary & DG, Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India, at a special evening in New Delhi
* First time in SATTE's 33-year history that its economic footprint has been independently quantified
* Move positions SATTE as a benchmark for how travel and tourism exhibitions demonstrate value to government, industry and investors

* One event. Millions of journeys. SATTE 2026 generated an estimated direct economic impact of INR 193 crore.

New Delhi, July , 2026: Informa Markets in India, organiser of SATTE (South Asia Travel and Tourism Exchange), today marked a defining milestone in the exhibition's 33-year journey with the launch of its first-ever independent Economic Impact Report, developed in partnership with EY. Unveiled at a special event at Le Méridien, New Delhi, the report independently measures SATTE's economic contribution while highlighting the exhibition's wider multiplier effect across India's travel and tourism ecosystem.

The report was formally launched by Shri Suman Billa IAS, Additional Secretary & Director General, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, who was the evening's Chief Guest. He was joined on stage for the unveiling by a distinguished array of dignitaries and industry leaders such as Shri Gyan Bhushan (IES), Senior Economic Advisor, Ministry of Tourism; H.E. Ms. Chavanart Thangsumphant, Ambassador of Thailand to India — Thailand having been SATTE's supporting partner country for several years; and members of the SATTE 2026 Award Jury, including Shri Arvind Singh (Former Secretary, Ministry of Tourism), Dr. Abhay Sinha (Director General, SEPC-India), S Shri Himanshu Patil (President, OTOAI), Shri Aashish Gupta (Consulting CEO, FAITH), Smt. Jyoti Mayal (Chairperson, THSC) and Smt. Meena Bhatia (VP & GM, Le Méridien New Delhi), along with Shri Bhavesh Laddha, Director at EY Consulting, Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, Informa Markets in India, and Ms. Pallavi Mehra, Senior Group Director, Informa Markets in India, and Publisher, Travel Trends Today.

A Landmark Study for SATTE and India's Travel Exhibition Industry

For over three decades, SATTE has served as a meeting ground for governments, tourism boards, destinations and businesses across the global travel value chain. With this landmark report, Informa Markets in India and EY have, for the first time in SATTE's history, independently quantified the exhibition's measurable economic contribution while reinforcing the broader role business exhibitions play in enabling tourism, trade, investment and long-term economic growth.

Beyond measuring the exhibition's immediate economic contribution, the report introduces what it describes as the 'SATTE Multiplier Effect'—the cascading economic value created when business concluded between destinations, tourism boards, travel agents and tour operators at the show translates into bookings, travel packages, accommodation, aviation demand, transportation, visitor spending and employment throughout the year.

While the study quantifies SATTE's measurable economic contribution through direct, indirect and tax revenues, it also underscores that the exhibition's wider influence extends well beyond the three days of the event as commercial relationships forged on the show floor continue to generate tourism activity and economic value across destinations throughout the year.

In his foreword to the report, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister of Tourism & Culture, Government of India, said exhibitions "serve as engines of growth that stimulate trade, encourage entrepreneurship, attract investment and create value across entire economic ecosystems," noting that SATTE "has established itself as South Asia's leading travel and tourism exhibition." Shri Shekhawat also pointed out to the Ministry's "Meet in India" initiative and continued infrastructure development as part of the Government's commitment to strengthening India's MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) ecosystem.

Speaking at the launch, Shri Suman Billa IAS, Additional Secretary & Director General, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, said, “I am especially delighted to be part of the launch of the exhibitions industry's first impact assessment report. What reports like these do is convert intuition into evidence. When we attend events, our understanding of their impact is often anecdotal. Studies like these bring in data, rigour and measurable outcomes.

Today, exhibitions are not merely industry gatherings; they are engines and accelerators of economic growth, as well as platforms for market intelligence. I extend my strong support to events such as SATTE, as they democratise access to the tourism business, enabling even the smallest players to connect with international partners and collaborators. We need events like SATTE to continue growing from strength to strength," he added.

Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, Informa Markets in India, said, "This report marks a significant milestone in SATTE's journey. For the first time, it independently measures the exhibition's economic contribution while highlighting the wider value that business events create across the travel and tourism ecosystem. Beyond the three days of the exhibition, SATTE serves as a catalyst for partnerships, business growth and tourism activity that continue to generate value throughout the year. We hope the insights from this report serve as a valuable resource for policymakers, tourism boards, investors and industry stakeholders as they shape the next phase of growth for India's travel and tourism sector."

Mr. Bhavesh Laddha, Director, EY Consulting, said, " "We are extremely proud to be the knowledge and intelligence partner for SATTE's Economic Impact Report. Our analysis shows that SATTE 2026 served as a significant catalyst for economic activity, generating an estimated economic impact of INR 193 crore. The exhibition contributed to over 45,000 man-days of employment, generated more than 50,000 hotel room nights and facilitated over 25,000 flight bookings.

Today's launch of the report, 'One Event. Millions of Journeys.', reflects precisely the scale and ripple effect that exhibitions can create. Considering even one percent of the business opportunities and MoUs initiated at the event resulted into actual transactions, the longer-term economic impact could run into an estimated 3000-4000 crore beyond the exhibition itself. We value the trust, collaboration and partnerships that are essential for industries and economies to continue growing," he added

The report also lays out a forward agenda for SATTE 2027, calling for sharper focus on curated, high-value engagement over sheer volume, deeper integration of Tier-II and Tier-III markets, a stronger push on traveller safety and confidence-building, and greater flexibility in booking and pricing models as the travel landscape responds to ongoing global shifts.

A Milestone for India's Travel and Tourism Sector

The launch also comes at a significant moment for India's wider travel and tourism economy. With exhibitions recording almost 40% post-pandemic growth and over 1,000 organised exhibitions now hosted across India every year, the country is increasingly positioning itself as a preferred global destination for business events.

According to Ms Anita Mendiratta, Special Advisor to the Secretary General, UN Tourism, "Credible intelligence of the kind such as the one brought out by SATTE in partnership with EY is critical to informing policy, guiding investment, and shaping decisions that deliver lasting value for destinations, communities, businesses and travelers alike. SATTE's collaboration with EY provides an important resource for policymakers, business leaders and stakeholders across India's travel ecosystem."

By independently measuring and documenting its economic footprint, SATTE has taken an important step towards strengthening evidence-based dialogue around the value created by business exhibitions, providing policymakers, investors and industry stakeholders with deeper insights into the role exhibitions play in driving tourism, trade and economic development.

Key Findings from the Report

The report independently quantifies SATTE's economic contribution for the first time in the exhibition's 33-year history while highlighting the wider 'SATTE Multiplier Effect'.

  • SATTE 2026 generated an estimated direct economic impact of INR 193 crore.

  • SATTE 2026 generated over 45,000 man-days of employment, 50,000+ hotel room nights and 25,000+ flight bookings.

Sydney, Australia (July , 2026) – Beckons, a curated portfolio of luxury lodges in the world's most remote and remarkable places, has today announced plans for a new, ultra-luxury lodge set amongst the iconic red sand dunes of Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa. The retreat is the first new build for the portfolio since the brand's launch in March 2026.

Plans have been approved following ecological, heritage and sacred sites assessments and consultation with Traditional Custodians*. Further details, including the lodge name and opening date, will be announced as construction timelines are finalised, however the lodge is currently projected to open in early 2028.

The new lodge will be an intimate nine-suite retreat set low in the dune landscape adjacent to Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park, with unrivalled views of Uluṟu from the restaurant, bar and lounge and from every guest suite; from the end of the bed, or from the cool sanctuary of a private plunge pool. The closest luxury accommodation to Uluṟu, the new retreat brings a distinct dimension to the Beckons presence in the Red Centre, set a short distance from the acclaimed Longitude 131°. The new offering will be more intimate in scale, architecturally immersed in the dune landscape, grounded in a genuine First Nations cultural exchange and offering a highly personalised, guided experience of Australia’s extraordinary outback.

The multi-million-dollar project marks an exciting next chapter in Beckons global growth strategy. The new build expands Beckons Australian portfolio alongside Southern Ocean Lodge, Longitude 131°, Capella Lodge, Silky Oaks Lodge, and The Louise, and reinforces the growing platform behind Huka Lodge in New Zealand, Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge in Canada, and Tierra Atacama and Tierra Patagonia in Chile. Looking ahead, Beckons aims to expand beyond Australia, bringing its signature luxury lodge experience to new destinations across other continents.

Beckons Chief Executive Officer Michael Crawford said the new ultra-luxury property at Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa represented a natural next step for the portfolio.

"One of the world's most powerful and spiritually significant landscapes, Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa is an extraordinary place to deepen our presence in Australia and grow our global footprint," Mr Crawford said. "At Beckons, the most memorable journeys create a genuine connection to place. Here, that means personally guided experiences that reveal the ancient stories of Country and sky, and the living heritage of this remarkable landscape."

Designed by Australia-based JAWS Architects, the property sits lightly among the dunes, the inspiration for its materials, tones and textures drawn entirely from the landscape of the Red Centre. Eight Desert Suites and one multi-room Desert Pavilion each open to private plunge pools and outdoor daybeds set with luxury swags for stargazing.

First Nations art and culture are central to the guest experience. Each suite features a unique commissioned work interpreting Kungkarangkalpa (Seven Sisters), a significant Aṉangu Creation story told in the stars above the Central and Western Deserts. Ongoing partnerships with Ernabella Arts, Tjanpi Desert Weavers, Tjala Arts, and the APY Centre Collective create opportunities for respectful cultural exchange, while expert guides lead guests through landscapes shaped by stories thousands of years in the making.

Helen & Lorena's Place Opens This Friday, Introducing a New Cultural Landmark to Bengaluru's Sarjapur Corridor

The hospitality veteran and managing director of PP Ventures announces the group’s fourth Bengaluru venue, a first-of-its-kind concept marrying Portuguese coastal soul with Spanish country craft.

BENGALURU, JULY 2026—Passionate People Ventures (PP Ventures), the Bengaluru-based hospitality group behind some of the city’s most talked-about dining addresses, is preparing to open its fourth outlet. With Roxie (Harlur), Roxie & Barry (Whitefield), and Helen’s Place (Marathahalli) already firmly embedded in the fabric of Bengaluru’s restaurant culture, the group’s next move is its most ambitious yet.

Helen & Lorena’s Place, opening on the Sarjapur–Varthur Road, will be India’s first Porto-Spanish Crafthouse, a concept two years in the making, rooted equally in lived experience and careful culinary architecture. Helen & Lorena’s Place draws its identity from two distinct worlds. Helen’s roots lie in the culture of Porto—generous and unhurried, where the food is a testament to varied maritime flavours and hearty meats. Lorena’s come from the bakeries and countryside kitchens of San Sebastian, Spain.

The food programme is broad in its cultural references and precise in its execution. The menu is unlike anything currently on offer in Bengaluru. Helen's kitchen opens with a Red Wine-Braised Chicken slow-cooked with pearl onions and smoky bacon and a Portuguese Pork Chorizo with herb mash—dishes that carry the weight of coastal European cooking without apology. Lorena's Spanish signatures push further: Andalusian Garlic Prawns sizzling in golden olive oil, Octopus à la Plancha seared with smoky char and flaky sea salt, Lamb Merguez Sausage Skewers built on harissa and cumin, and Lumpia Cigar Rolls with Smoked Pepper Dip—a menu that moves between Spain's taverns and its countryside tables with genuine fluency.

Lorena's Panadería—pies, puffs, and baked goods brought from the traditions of San Sebastian — deserves a sentence of its own. The Cutie Pies and Cuddle Puffs, as the menu calls them, range from a Caramelised Onion & Goat Cheese Puff to a Chicken Ghee Roast Puff and a Cream Cheese & Bacon Puff Burger. The dessert programme holds its own: a Cherry Amaretto Tiramisù, a Crema Catalana finished with torched caramelised sugar, and a Crepe Suzette reimagined tableside—a level of pastry craft rarely attempted at this scale in the city. The bar carries the same ambition. Cocktails named San Sebastian Stories, Bougainvillea Balcony, and Pineapple Postcards are built around a narrative as much as a recipe

Together, they built a crafthouse—and the term is earned, not borrowed. At Helen & Lorena's Place, craft operates as an organising principle across every layer of the experience. The menu is deeply researched, drawing from the coastal bars of Porto and the sun-warmed bakeries of San Sebastian. The cocktail list is authored. The windmill is a deliberate architectural nod to the Spanish landscape. The wall illustrations are hand-drawn. And when a guest celebrates a birthday, the team sings for them — in Spanish.  The venue’s literature — from wall copy to packaging — has been written to match the narrative. This is the level of intentionality that separates a cultural landmark from a well-designed restaurant. PP Ventures has built Helen & Lorena's Place to be the former—a space where the storytelling is structural, the hospitality is personal, and the experience of being there is one that does not translate to anywhere else in the city.

Helen & Lorena’s Place marks the fourth node in what PP Ventures is building across Bengaluru—a network of destination-led venues that are distinct in personality but coherent in values. The Sarjapur–Varthur corridor, one of the city’s fastest-growing residential and commercial corridors, represents a deliberate geographic expansion for the group, extending its footprint into a part of the city that is under-served by quality, experience-first dining.

For Pravesh Pandey, “Hospitality isn’t about impressing people; it's about showing up with intent. When you get that right, everything else follows. For him, this opening also reflects a broader conviction: that Bengaluru’s dining audience is ready for concepts that are built with depth rather than novelty. “The city has grown up,” he observes. “People want to feel something when they walk into a room. They want a place that has a point of view.”

Helen & Lorena's Place opens on 10 July 2026, welcoming Bengaluru to India's first Porto-Spanish crafthouse.

Travelers Flock to Theme Parks and Island Escapes: Agoda Reveals India’s Most-Booked Activities from January to June 2026

India, July 2026 – Digital travel platform Agoda today revealed the most-booked activities and attractions among Indian travelers across Asia in the first half of 2026, offering insights into the experiences that shaped their journeys. The data highlights a strong preference for immersive, family-friendly, and adventure-led attractions, with theme parks and island experiences emerging as clear favorites.

Leading the rankings are Universal Studios Singapore, Pattaya Coral Island Tour in Thailand, and VinWonders Phu Quoc in Vietnam, highlighting Indian travelers' growing preference for immersive, experience-led holidays. Rather than centering trips solely around sightseeing, travelers are increasingly planning their itineraries around activities that offer entertainment, adventure, and cultural discovery.

From world-class theme parks and island-hopping excursions to interactive attractions, these experiences are becoming a key part of the travel journey. The trend also reinforces the enduring appeal of short-haul destinations across Southeast Asia, where easy connectivity, diverse attractions, and value-for-money experiences continue to make them a popular choice for family vacations, group getaways, and extended weekend escapes.

Across three of Asia's most well-known destinations, theme parks claimed the top activity spot. Hong Kong Disneyland was the most-booked activity in Asia, while Tokyo Disney Resort led in Japan, and Lotte World topped the list in South Korea. This points to the category's broad and deeply rooted appeal across the region. For a growing number of travelers visiting Asia, the park is not an add-on to the trip, but the main priority.

Fairmont Spa & Longevity Introduces The Ultimate Monsoon Wellness Rituals To Restore Body, Mind & Vitality

Recommending science-backed spa and longevity therapies to help the body adapt to the physiological shifts of the season

MUMBAI, June 2026 –  As Mumbai embraces the monsoon, Fairmont Spa & Longevity at Fairmont Mumbai invites guests to experience the season as an opportunity for restoration. Combining spa rituals with advanced longevity therapies, the destination offers a holistic approach to wellness designed to help the body adapt to the unique physiological changes brought on by increased humidity, fluctuating temperatures and reduced sunlight.

The monsoon can impact circulation, skin health, muscle recovery and overall energy levels. Recognising these seasonal shifts, Fairmont Spa & Longevity recommends a curated selection of therapies that support recovery, resilience and long-term wellbeing.

Among the signature recommendations is Abhyanga, the traditional warm oil massage that helps improve circulation, ease muscular tension, calm the nervous system and strengthen the skin barrier during humid weather. Complementing this are Red Light Therapy, which supports cellular energy, skin repair and muscle recovery, and the Far Infrared (FIR) Sauna, where gentle penetrating heat promotes relaxation, eases stiffness and helps counter the heaviness often experienced during the rainy season. Body Scrubs & Wraps further help maintain healthy, radiant skin by supporting exfoliation and barrier renewal.

"Monsoon brings noticeable changes to how the body feels and functions," says Dr. Rashmi Ambastha, Director – Spa, Wellness & Recreation, Fairmont Mumbai. "Our approach combines the wisdom of traditional healing with evidence-informed longevity therapies, creating experiences that help guests restore balance, recover from seasonal fatigue and prioritise long-term wellbeing."

This monsoon, Fairmont Spa & Longevity offers both hotel guests and city residents a destination where spa rituals and longevity science come together to support seasonal wellbeing.
