Lemon Tree Hotels signs a new property in Whitefield, Bengaluru, Karnataka

New Delhi, April 2023: Lemon Tree Hotels announced its latest signing in Karnataka named Peninsula Suites - operated by Lemon Tree Hotels, Bengaluru. The property is expected to be operational by October 2023 and shall be managed by Carnation Hotels Private Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary and the management arm of Lemon Tree Hotels Limited. 

The property is located at Whitefield, which turned from a quaint settlement to a major suburb post the IT boom in Bengaluru in the late 90s. The locality is now a major part of Greater Bengaluru and the city’s first tech corridor to be connected by Namma Metro.

Prior to joining DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Bengaluru, he worked as an executive chef at Sarovar Group of Hotels, Bengaluru. He has also worked with reputed brands such as Radisson Atria Bangalore, Trident Kochi, ITC Fortune Bangalore, Le-Meridien Bangalore, and Carnival Cruise Lines. Welcoming Amandeep Kaur as General Manager – WelcomHotel by ITC Hotels, Bengaluru

Amandeep Kaur is the new General Manager of WelcomHotel by ITC Hotels, Bengaluru from June 01st, 2021. 

Earlier, the Resident Manager, ITC Gardenia, Bengaluru, Amandeep was responsible for the operations of the hotel including the Front Office, Food & Beverage, and Housekeeping. Along with operational excellence, her core skills constitute excellent people management & team-building skills while driving a result-oriented, passionate, and ethical work culture.

Amandeep recently bagged the Hotel Manager of the Year award (South 2020) at the India International Hospitality Expo.

An alumna of Welcomgroup Management Institute (WMI), she started her career at ITC Grand Central, Mumbai as a member of the pre-opening team. She then moved on to ITC Sonar, Kolkata, and Sheraton, New Delhi as a part of the housekeeping team. Amandeep played a pivotal role in the opening of the largest hotel in the chain – ITC Grand Chola, Chennai, and thereafter joined as Executive Housekeeper at ITC Grand Bharat, Gurgaon. She subsequently moved to ITC Gardenia, Bengaluru in the capacity of Executive Housekeeper and was promoted to the position of Resident Manager within a year. 

An explorer at heart, Amandeep likes to trek and loves solo traveling. She is also an avid reader. Her favourite moments are with her son and family.

The Leela Palace, Bengaluru to introduce US Duck and US Turkey in menu as regular meals

The Leela Palace, Bengaluru, revamped its menu to cater to the ever-changing cravings of food connoisseurs and introduced duck and turkey as regular meals. These meats' common perception remains to be a conventional backdrop of duck and turkey that labels them as celebratory meals. However, the hotel understood the evolving sector and its patrons' expectations and thus integrated scrumptious delicacies made from meat in its regular menu, which shall now be available throughout the year.

Encouraging the consumption of duck and turkey while keeping in mind its versatility and lean quotient, the hotel also conducted an event where it endeavored to make meat-enthusiasts aware of the benefits of the meat. "US duck was roasted and carved on the table for the celebrations, and we also have few stir-fries on offer. Duck is red meat; it is very lean and healthy because the fat is on the skin, which can be easily removed. It can use it for burgers, salads, soups, and much more! It goes very well with Indian spices and can be substituted for chicken or mutton,” said Mir Zafar Ali, Executive Chef, The Leela Palace, Bengaluru.

Including duck and turkey in the lunch and dinner menu such as Dum ka Turkey, Turkey Raan, salad, kebabs, Duck Pepperfry and Turkey makhani as regular meals are catching traction. IHCL, AB InBev launch first 7Rivers Brewpub in Bengaluru

Anheuser Busch Inbev (Ab InBev) and Tata-owned Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) have jointly opened their first microbrewery, 7Rivers Brewing Co, at the Taj property in Bengaluru, after a delay of six months due to Covid-19 led disruption that led to shuttering of bars till it reopened in September.

The microbrewery was in the making since the fourth quarter of last fiscal and original plan was to launch it in peak summer season which overlapped with the nationwide lockdown. Now, the world’s biggest brewer and country’s largest hospitality chain are banking on this pre-pandemic project to revive sales as both sectors have been hit hard amid travel curbs and negligible socializing.

Kartikeya Sharma, president-South Asia at AB InBev said, “People are sick and tired of being at home and drinking beer by themselves or virtually with friends. As government is easing the lockdown and more consumers aching to go out again, it was the right time to open up the venue.” Instead of selling draught versions of existing bottled beer brands, AB Inbev will brew new styles of craft beer at the brewpub.

Thai hospitality firm Dusit International announces re-entry into India

Thailand-based hospitality firm Dusit International has announced its return to India with a plan to open at least two Dusit-branded hotels per year 2021 onward in tier I and tier II cities.

The company will focus on markets such as Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru – as well as key leisure destinations such as Goa.
