Our Power, Our Planet: How Marriott is Helping Nature Thrive

At Marriott International, caring for the places where we live, work, and travel isn’t just something we focus on once a year; it remains central to how we do business and is guided by our sustainability and social impact platform, Serve 360.

This Earth Day, Marriott is proud to share how our associates, hotels, and guests are helping bring our Serve 360 efforts to life, including through our goal to conduct 35,000 activities that protect, restore, or enhance nature in the communities where we operate by 2030.

From reforestation and marine conservation to responsible operations and community partnerships, we’re proud of the progress we made in 2025:

"The health of our business is deeply connected to the health of our planet. When we protect the environment and invest in our communities, we’re dedicated to helping destinations remain vibrant places to live, work, and visit for generations to come."

- Anthony Capuano, President and CEO, Marriott International

Marriott properties and associates around the world have been dedicating their time and resources to helping nature thrive on land and at sea. Learn more about efforts happening across our Marriott Bonvoy portfolio.

On Land: Reforesting Critical Ecosystems – One Tree at a Time

Healthy forests do more than look beautiful, they filter water, cool waterways, stabilize soil, and create shelter for wildlife. In 2025, Marriott helped plant more than 32,500 trees in critical ecosystems across the U.S. Gulf Coast through our engagement with the Arbor Day Foundation. The initiative's aim is to restore a diverse blend of bottomland hardwood and upland pine forests across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi as part of the Gulf Coast Reforestation project. These reforestation efforts support local recovery from hurricanes, coastal flooding, and land-use changes – and help improve regional watershed health by reducing pollution and erosion that can flow into streams and eventually the ocean. As canopy returns along waterways, it can enhance habitat for aquatic species such as mussels, crawfish, oysters, gulf sturgeon, and manatees, while also supporting land-dwelling wildlife like gopher tortoises, eastern indigo snakes, and the endangered red-cockaded woodpecker.

Through Good Travel by Marriott Bonvoy® and collaboration with China Green Foundation’s Million Forest Project, guests helped reach a milestone of 10,000 shrubs donated to support efforts to combat desertification in Gansu Province, China.

Closer to home in Maryland, we continued to support the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s efforts to plant trees that protect waterways with approximately 4,000 trees planted across the state in 2025, and another 10,000 seedlings potted and nurtured in nurseries for future reforestation.

At Sea: Protecting Coastlines and Marine Life

Coastal ecosystems are powerful and fragile. In Costa Rica, volunteers from W Costa Rica – Reserva Conchal and The Westin Reserva Conchal, an All-Inclusive Golf Resort & Spa, supported Back Home, a program dedicated to returning seashells to the sea. Using science, innovation, and collaboration, an artificial intelligence application helps identify whether shells confiscated at the airport belong to the Pacific Ocean or Caribbean Sea so they can be registered and reintegrated into their original habitat. Returning shells helps secure micro-habitats for animals and microorganisms and can help minimize the impacts of coastal erosion.

Across the Caribbean and Latin America region, properties continued year-round programs dedicated to sea turtle conservation. In 2025, these efforts helped support the release of more than 63,000 turtles into their natural habitats.

Marriott is also working with World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to support healthier oceans through the Peru Mahi Mahi Longline Fishery Improvement Project – an effort aimed at strengthening management practices and safeguarding the broader marine ecosystem.

Our Power Is People: Turning Commitment into Action

None of this work happens without people. In 2025, associates, hotels, and Marriott Business Councils reported participating in 7,500 biodiversity-related activities – from clean-ups and ocean conservation to reforestation – reflecting the everyday actions aimed at helping to protect the places where we live, work, and travel. In support of the 2025 World Environment Day, 8,300+ volunteers across 230 hotels supported community and conservation efforts –planting nearly 95,000 trees and more than 11,000 mangroves, alongside activities such as beach clean-ups and coral plantings.

Guests and Marriott Bonvoy members play an important role too. Through the Marriott Bonvoy member Annual Choice Benefit, members helped raise more than $280,000 for World Wildlife Fund to support global conservation efforts. And across our portfolio, stewardship of the natural world continues to be recognized: 93% of U.S. & CALA golf properties and 100% of U.K. golf properties were recognized for environmental management practices by The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf.

Powering a More Resilient Planet Together

From forest restoration projects designed to help strengthen watersheds to protecting the coastlines and marine species that make our oceans thrive, the story is the same: our power is greatest when we act together. This Earth Day, we’re celebrating the associates, guests, owners, members and community partners who are helping to protect biodiversity around the world and are dedicated to continuing to help our planet thrive.

"We remain committed to being thoughtful about how we build, operate, and engage with community stakeholders so our hotels can reduce their environmental impact while continuing to support local ecosystems around the world."

- Robert Guidice, Chief Operations Officer, Marriott International

We believe that each tree planted, shoreline restored, and habitat protected brings Marriott closer to our 2030 Serve 360 goal of 35,000 nature‑positive activities – and reinforces the company’s belief that hospitality can be a force for good.

Hyatt Regency Denver Unveils $70 Million Transformation

Residential-inspired design and thoughtful enhancements usher in a new era for the downtown Denver hotel

CHICAGO (April 2026) Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center proudly announces the completion of its comprehensive $70 million transformation, coinciding with the hotel’s 20-year milestone in the heart of downtown Denver. The renovation introduces a full reimagination of its 1,100 guestrooms and suites alongside new and enhanced gathering spaces, designed to elevate both the guest and local experience. It follows the 2018 and 2019 revitalization of the hotel’s dining venues – including Former Saint Craft Kitchen and Taps, Peaks 27th Floor Lounge and Assembly Hall Bar + Market – as well as its public spaces, with updated design, flexible seating areas and more than 150 works of art by over 50 Colorado-based creators curated in partnership with Nine Dot Arts.

Rooted in a design philosophy of “Slow and True,” the fully transformed guestrooms transition guests from the lively spirit of the city to a calm hush upon entry. Each room features all new hard and soft goods, incorporating natural wood and stone, porcelain and vegan leather—materials that reflect Denver’s natural surroundings, with layered textures and tonal colors creating a balanced, sensory experience. Warm, refined furnishings and soft green accents evoke the Colorado landscape, while thoughtfully integrated elements such as functional under-TV storage, USB-C charging ports, enhanced lighting and spacious work areas offer added convenience for today’s traveler. Select rooms also feature lounge seating oriented toward city and mountain views. Redesigned bathrooms include expansive illuminated mirrors, upgraded vanities, glass-enclosed showers or new bathtubs, and large-format amenities. The result is an airy, welcoming aesthetic inspired by the textures of the Rockies and the city’s urban charm.

Expanding on the hotel’s legacy as a premier meetings destination and adding to its over 60,000 square feet of flexible event space, the renovation also introduces Summit Five, a new 891-square-foot meeting space located on the fifth floor. Designed with a local-first mindset, the space offers an intimate setting ideal for small meetings and gatherings and serves as a natural extension of the Denver City Terrace, a sought-after outdoor venue with city views, allowing for a seamless flow for receptions and social events.

“This transformation represents a meaningful investment in both our physical spaces and the people who bring them to life each day,” said Greg Leonard, general manager of Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center. “We’re elevating the guest experience while also supporting our team with an environment designed for long-term success.”

EkoStay Crosses ₹40 Crore in Revenue, Scales to 150+ Villas Across 12+ Cities, Built Entirely Without External Funding

India’s bootstrapped homestay hospitality brand delivers 43% YoY growth, remains EBITDA-positive, and targets 220+ properties with continued double-digit margins

Mumbai,  April 2026: At a time when growth in hospitality startups is often equated with capital raised, EkoStay is charting a fundamentally different trajectory, one anchored in profitability, operational discipline, and consistent guest demand.

The Mumbai-based alternative accommodation brand has reported ₹40 crore in revenue for FY 2025–26, marking a 43% year-on-year growth, while continuing to remain EBITDA-positive with ~10% margins.

But beyond revenue, the scale of the business tells a deeper story.

From its inception in 2018, EkoStay has grown into a network of 150+ professionally managed villas across 12+ leisure destinations, translating into hundreds of operational rooms and guest units serving travellers across India’s most in-demand holiday markets. The brand currently operates at an average occupancy of 56%, with a strong and growing base of repeat customers.

Looking ahead, the company is targeting ₹52+ crore in revenue in FY27, alongside a 30%+ growth trajectory and plans to scale its footprint to 220+ properties nationwide.

A Bootstrapped Model That Prioritised Fundamentals Over Funding

Founded by Husain Khatumdi, Sohail Mirchandani, Varun Arora, and Zishan Khan, EkoStay has been built without raising external capital, relying instead on internal accruals, measured expansion, and sharp operational control.

“Being bootstrapped meant every decision had to be efficient and accountable. That discipline is what continues to define how we scale today,” said Varun Arora, CEO & Co-Founder, EkoStay.

This approach has enabled the company to grow sustainably, while maintaining profitability in a segment often characterised by high burn and fragmented supply.

Repeat Behaviour, Not Discounts, Driving Growth

A defining lever of EkoStay’s growth has been repeat bookings and organic referrals, significantly reducing dependence on paid acquisition channels.

“Consistency in guest experience has been critical in building trust. A large part of our growth today comes from guests who choose to stay with us again or recommend us within their network,” added Sohail Mirchandani, COO & Co-Founder.

This repeat-driven model has allowed the brand to strengthen unit economics while scaling demand in a capital-efficient manner.

Scaling Supply Where Demand Already Exists

EkoStay’s expansion strategy has remained sharply demand-led, focusing on high-traction leisure micro-markets rather than aggressive, undifferentiated inventory addition.

The brand has seen particularly strong growth across South India, including the Nilgiris region, where demand for private villa stays continues to rise alongside evolving travel preferences.

“Our focus has always been on identifying destinations where demand is structurally strong and aligning our supply accordingly,” said Zishan Khan, Chief Acquisition Officer & Co-Founder.

A Standardised Yet Personalised Hospitality Model

Operating at the intersection of hospitality and vacation rentals, EkoStay combines the reliability of branded hospitality with the privacy and comfort of homestays.

Its model also enables homeowners to unlock value from their properties through professional management, without the operational complexities of hosting, creating a parallel supply pipeline that supports scalable growth.

What ₹40 Crore Represents

For EkoStay, this milestone is not just about topline growth.

It reflects a business built with zero external funding, zero dilution, and no reliance on debt, driven entirely by customer demand and internal reinvestment.

“₹40 crore is not just a revenue milestone, it validates a model that has been built sustainably, with long-term value creation at its core,” said Husain Khatumdi, Managing Director & Co-Founder.

Positioned for the Next Phase of Category Growth

India’s alternative accommodation segment is witnessing a structural shift, driven by rising domestic travel and increasing preference for private, curated, and experience-led stays.

With a strong foundation of profitability, repeat demand, and a growing supply base, EkoStay is well-positioned to capitalise on this momentum.

As the company scales towards 220+ properties and ₹52+ crore in revenue, its focus remains clear: disciplined growth, stronger operations, and delivering consistently high-quality guest experiences at scale.

About EkoStay

Founded in 2018, EkoStay is a Mumbai-based alternative accommodation brand offering professionally managed vacation homes across India. Built on a vision to deliver a standardised yet personalised homestay experience, the company operates a portfolio of 150+ curated villas across 12+ leisure destinations, catering to the evolving needs of modern travellers.

EkoStay combines the reliability of branded hospitality with the comfort and privacy of home-like stays, while enabling homeowners to monetise their properties without operational involvement. With a strong focus on customer experience, operational efficiency, and sustainable growth, the company has scaled profitably and remains entirely bootstrapped, driven by internal accruals and repeat demand.

As it expands its footprint towards 220+ properties, EkoStay continues to redefine the vacation rental landscape in India through design-led spaces, consistent service standards, and a guest-first approach.

Raffles Cambodia Unveils Immersive ‘Path of History’ Tour and New History Book

Guests can step back in time to rediscover a golden age of travel at two storied luxury hotels

SIEM REAP, Cambodia (April 2026) – Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor, the iconic luxury heritage hotel on the doorstep of ancient Khmer archeological sites in Cambodia, has unveiled an immersive new ‘Path of History’ tour featuring rare photographs, video footage, architectural drawings, and other vintage artefacts that highlight a golden age of travel in Southeast Asia.

The permanent exhibition at Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor in Siem Reap is complemented by a new history book by authors Andreas and Carola Augustin. A Tale of Two Hotels – Raffles in Cambodia showcases the property alongside Raffles Hotel Le Royal, its sister property in Phnom Penh, while chronicling an era of globe-trotting explorers and thrilling discoveries.

The ‘Grand Path of History’ tour and book both trace the early boom years (1900-1940) of international travel, when passengers boarded steamships bound for the East and the first aircraft took to the skies. It is a story of true pioneers, like the Sarkies brothers in Singapore, whose Raffles brand has epitomised luxury travel for nearly 140 years.

The 160-page book, full of colourful photographs and available in hardcover and paperback, brings readers into Cambodia’s two grandest hotels, Hotel Le Royal and Grand Hotel d’Angkor, and recounts the country’s determined efforts to promote its rich cultural heritage abroad, from the Royal Ballet of Cambodia’s striking debut in Paris at the start of the 20th century to Hollywood actor Charlie Chaplin’s visits to Le Royal and Angkor Wat.

The ‘Grand Path of History’ tour will be available to in-house guests only, with guided visits led by a Raffles historian. The exhibit was curated by Andreas and Carola Augustin.

“We are delighted and honoured to showcase a seminal early period of international travel, when visitors from around the world first discovered the wonders of Cambodia. Our new ‘Grand Path of History’ tour chronicles this story alongside that of Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor, whose illustrious 96-year past intertwines with those pioneering arrivals,” said Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor General Manager Joseph Colina.

Dagmar Lyons, General Manager of Raffles Hotel Le Royal, added: “Andreas Augustin’s new book, A Tale of Two Hotels – Raffles in Cambodia, illuminates not only a remarkable chapter in history but also its enduring connection to two of the world’s most iconic hotels. Our properties in Cambodia – Raffles Hotel Le Royal and Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor – are historic gems, each with its own extraordinary story.”

Preserving this legacy today, the two Raffles hotels in Cambodia continue to set the benchmark for luxury travel in the region.

Raffles Hotel Le Royal, which originally opened in 1929, today features 175 rooms and suites that underwent a full refurbishment as part of a meticulous one-year restoration project in 2019. The hotel’s elegant past has been reinterpreted in a bold, contemporary style that is inspired by French colonial, Khmer and Art Deco influences.

Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor opened in 1932 as a rest stop for archeologists and adventurers exploring the ancient kingdom of Angkor Wat. The hotel features an authentic expression of 1930s French Art Deco style with beautifully refined rooms, suites and villas blending old-world charm with Cambodian influences and contemporary detail.

The two properties were among just 10 hotels in Cambodia to be recognised with MICHELIN Keys in the MICHELIN Guide’s inaugural edition in the Southeast Asian country last year. Raffles Hotel Le Royal, in a separate major honour, was voted the No. 2 hotel in Southeast Asia in the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards 2025.

The two Raffles Cambodia hotels came together last year to unveil an exclusive new 7-day stay package, ‘A Tale of Two Cities’, billed as ‘a journey like no other, where grand history, enchanted glamour and extraordinary adventure entwine’. This seamless multi-city journey perfectly complements the new historical offerings.

Sayaji Kolhapur Initiates Citywide Tree Plantation Drive On The Occasion Of Earth Day

On this Earth Day, Sayaji Kolhapur proved its commitment to sustainability and environmental well-being by organising a tree plantation drive in Kolhapur city. This activity brought together the hotel's leadership and team members in a collective effort to contribute towards a greener and more sustainable future.

The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from the hotel's General Manager, Heads of Departments, and staff members, all of whom actively engaged in planting saplings. The drive aimed not only to enhance the city's green cover but also to inspire a sense of environmental responsibility within the community.

Taking the initiative a step further, Sayaji Kolhapur extended the spirit of Earth Day beyond its premises by gifting plant saplings to its corporate guests. This thoughtful gesture encouraged the guests to embrace eco-conscious practices and become active participants in preserving the environment.

Speaking on the occasion, General Manager Mukesh Rakshit said, "At Sayaji Kolhapur, we believe that meaningful change begins with small, consistent actions. This Earth Day initiative is a reflection of our commitment to sustainability and our responsibility towards the community and environment. By involving our team and guests, we hope to inspire a larger movement towards greener, more mindful living."

Malaysia Airlines Unveils Mumbai Indians-Themed Aircraft, Taking the Spirit of Mumbai Global

Mumbai, April 2026 – Malaysia Airlines and Mumbai Indians today unveiled a one-of-a-kind aircraft livery, bringing together the iconic blue and gold of one of cricket's most celebrated franchises to the skies with the blues of Malaysia Airlines.

Now featured on Malaysia Airlines’ A330-300, the specially designed livery transforms the aircraft into a bold visual expression of sport, culture and connection - carrying the spirit of Mumbai beyond the stadium and onto the global stage. The design blends the distinctive identities of both brands, featuring a dynamic pulse radiating from the Mumbai Indians emblem and its iconic Chakra, symbolising motion and momentum. Flowing patterns across the aircraft reflect the team’s growing global fanbase, reinforcing Malaysia Airlines’ role as a global carrier connecting people through shared journeys and experiences.

To mark the launch, Malaysia Airlines and Mumbai Indians have released a tribute digital film capturing the vibrant culture of Mumbai, the passion of its fans and the warmth of Malaysian Hospitality.

Bryan Foong, Chief Executive Officer of Airline Business from Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), said, “India remains a key growth market for Malaysia Airlines as we continue to strengthen our presence and connectivity across the region. This collaboration with Mumbai Indians allows us to go beyond traditional aviation partnerships by integrating cultural relevance into our brand experience. It reflects our commitment to building meaningful, long-term connections with customers while reinforcing Malaysia Airlines as a carrier that connects people, places and passions across our global network."

A Mumbai Indians spokesperson added, “Our collaboration with Malaysia Airlines is a powerful expression of how the Mumbai Indians brand continues to travel beyond the game and into culture. Seeing our colours take flight on a global platform is a proud moment, as it connects fans across geographies and brings the spirit of Mumbai to the world. Malaysia Airlines has been a forwardthinking partner of sharing our vision of creating meaningful fan experiences not just in stadiums, but across journeys.”

The dedicated aircraft will begin operating on key routes later this year, connecting fans across India, Asia and beyond. More than a visual statement, the collaboration extends the matchday experience into the journey itself, allowing fans to carry their allegiance wherever they travel.

As part of its broader commitment to driving inbound travel and strengthening Malaysia’s position as a key regional hub, Malaysia Airlines continues to enhance its Bonus Side Trip (BST) programme. The initiative allows eligible international travellers transiting through Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1 to explore an additional Malaysian destination at no additional fare (excluding taxes), with access to eight domestic destinations showcasing Malaysia’s cultural, natural and heritage attractions within a single itinerary.

As Malaysia’s national carrier, the airline also continues to support Visit Malaysia 2026 in collaboration with government and industry partners, further enhancing connectivity and reinforcing Malaysia as a destination of choice for travellers from India, Southeast Asia and beyond.

This forms part of Malaysia Airlines’ broader effort to deepen brand visibility in key markets, including its partnership with Mumbai Indians as the Official Global Airline Partner, announced earlier this year. The airline’s branding is featured on the right chest of the team’s jersey, one of the most prominent positions in cricket.

National, April 2026: This summer, Indian travellers are choosing Asia. Powered by a generation raised on Korean dramas, Japanese aesthetics and Asian street food culture, destinations across Asia feel both familiar and exciting and travel interest is reflecting that. Travellers are exploring destinations that offer a compelling mix of cultural discovery, strong connectivity and convenient travel times, making Asia an appealing choice for summer getaways.

According to Airbnb search data, Gen Z led this charge, accounting for over 40% of Airbnb’s summer searches this year and growing faster than any other generation at approximately 60% year-on-year.[1] This generation tends to travel more frequently and is increasingly planning trips around experiences, from concerts and festivals to cultural events and culinary exploration.

Airbnb data reveals growing interest in destinations across Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia. Osaka (over 85% growth in searches), Tokyo (over 90%) and Busan (over 95%) recorded some of the strongest increases in search interest among Indian travellers. This aligns with broader travel trends pointing to rising interest driven by pop culture fandom, culinary appeal and ease of travel. Kuala Lumpur (over 50%) and Bangkok (over 35%) continued to see steady demand, reflecting their strong connectivity and familiarity among Indian travellers.1

Travel also remains a shared experience, with nearly 60% of searches driven by group and family travel, followed by over 30% from duo travellers, highlighting the importance of spending time together while exploring new destinations.1

This interest in exploration is also shaping domestic travel trends. Within India, travellers are increasingly looking beyond established hotspots and exploring destinations that offer nature, heritage and cultural richness. That, paired with greater connectivity and the option to plan a meaningful yet short trip during a long weekend, makes Asia even more appealing to Indian travellers. It's interesting to see that Indian travellers are slowly moving beyond the templatized and obvious, both internationally and within India, and proactively seeking destinations that feel more personal, not just popular."

As travel habits continue to shift, Asia is where Indian travellers are heading this summer, offering a sense of ease through its accessibility, affordability and range of experiences.

Independence Brewing Company (IBC) diversifies portfolio with the launch of its first ever Super-Premium Beers in Cans

The innovation marks the homegrown brand’s strategic format expansion offering craft beers on-the-go

Mumbai, April,2026: Independence Brewing Company (IBC), the homegrown craft beer brand backed by the Trenton Group today launched their premium beer brands in Cans for the Indian market. The two variants – ENZO and WIT UNO will now be available across 8 cities in Maharashtra at over 2000 outlets (retail touchpoints).

These brands are manufactured and marketed by Amalgamated Breweries Pvt Ltd., a newly incorporated Trenton Group Company.  ABPL has set up a state of the art, fully automated microbrewery in Nashik. The manufacturing plant boasts of global standard brewing systems, dedicated canning lines for off premise perfection, high precision equipment to enhance production capability and to retain quality consistency. Prior to launching, ABPL has undertaken extensive consumer testing through the IBC craft bars to get first-hand reviews to enable changes if any at the production stage.

Anirudh Khanna, Managing Director, ABPL & Trenton Group
shared his thoughts on the much-awaited launch, “We are excited to unveil our canned beers, and the timing aligns perfectly with the market's peak consumption season. As we embrace the summer months, we’re bringing consumers precisely what the moment demands. The past decade has seen us build IBC in a manner that has sharpened our understanding of the Indian palate, the consumer preferences and our growth trajectory. Serving about 250,000 consumers annually helped us immensely in this endeavor. Every insight, feedback and challenge we received from our consumers paved way to this new strategic journey that we’re so proud of. The launch of our canned beers is a significant milestone for us as it marks our evolution from being a craft bar experience to becoming a brand that can travel with the consumer.”
The Indian beer market is experiencing robust growth and canned beer category is emerging as the fastest-growing packaging format. This shift toward cans is driven by structural changes in consumer behaviour, particularly among urban millennials and Gen Z, who are experimental, seek premium experiences, convenience of on-the-go, portability, and sustainability over conventional glass formats. While traditional beer consumption in India is largely restricted to bars and restaurants, the emergence of new occasions such as concerts, travel, home parties have made canned beers as the most suitable choice of beverage. And as disposable incomes continue to rise across India, the younger consumers steer towards quality, aesthetics and premium tags.
