Asia’s First Ecotel, The Orchid Hotel Mumbai, Marks World Environment Day with Green Initiatives

India’s First Eco-Friendly Hotel Reaffirms Its Long-Standing Commitment to Nature, Sustainability, and Community Engagement

8th June, Mumbai: World Environment Day is more than a date on the calendar; it is a reminder that every individual and every organization has a role to play in protecting the planet. The Orchid Hotel Mumbai embraced this spirit wholeheartedly by creating experiences that encouraged guests and visitors to reconnect with nature in simple yet impactful ways.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, The Orchid Hotel Mumbai marked the day with meaningful green initiatives that reflected the hotel’s long-standing commitment to sustainability and nature. As part of the celebrations, the hotel’s Green Team distributed planters to guests in the lobby, encouraging them to bring a touch of greenery into their everyday lives. The initiative was appreciated by guests and added a thoughtful eco-friendly touch to the day.

The hotel transformed its celebration into an opportunity to spread awareness about greener living, demonstrating that sustainability can be integrated into everyday life through conscious choices and collective participation.

The hotel also hosted a plantation activity for its young guests, where children participated in planting saplings and learned about the importance of caring for the environment in a fun and engaging way.

One of the highlights of the day was the distribution of planters by the hotel’s dedicated Green Team. Guests arriving in the lobby were pleasantly surprised to receive planters, a thoughtful gesture designed to encourage them to nurture their own little patch of green.

Perhaps the most heartwarming aspect of the celebration was the plantation activity organized for the hotel’s young guests. The initiative was warmly received by guests, many of whom appreciated the hotel’s effort to make sustainability personal, tangible, and accessible.

For The Orchid Hotel Mumbai, sustainability is not limited to a single day of observance. It is deeply woven into the hotel’s identity and operational philosophy.

Some of The Orchid Hotel Mumbai’s key sustainability initiatives include:

• Water-saving Geberit flush tanks that help reduce water usage significantly.
• Use of aerators in taps and showers to control water flow and conserve water across guest rooms and public areas.
• Natural sunlight atriums designed to reduce electricity consumption during daytime hours.
• In-house vermicomposting of wet waste to create eco-friendly compost.
• Dedicated waste management and storage systems to maintain hygiene and reduce environmental impact.
• Environment-friendly construction practices and materials used while building the hotel.
• Energy conservation measures integrated into the hotel’s infrastructure since its inception.
• Continuous efforts towards promoting sustainable hospitality and responsible living among guests and staff.

Recognized as India’s first eco-friendly hotel, The Orchid has consistently championed responsible hospitality practices that prioritize environmental conservation while delivering exceptional guest experiences. Over the years, the hotel has demonstrated that luxury and sustainability can coexist, setting an inspiring example for the hospitality industry.

Varun Sahani, Senior Vice President, Kamat Hotels India Limited, said, “World Environment Day is a reminder that even small actions can create a meaningful impact on our environment. At The Orchid Hotel Mumbai, sustainability has always been at the heart of our hospitality philosophy. Through initiatives like planter distribution and plantation activities for children, we aim to encourage our guests and the younger generation to become more conscious towards nature and greener living. As India’s first eco-friendly hotel, we remain committed to promoting sustainable practices every day.”

Its continued focus on resource conservation, environmental awareness, and community engagement reflects a vision that extends far beyond business goals—a vision rooted in creating positive impact for future generations.

And on this World Environment Day, The Orchid Hotel Mumbai planted more than saplings. It planted the seeds of awareness, responsibility, and hope for a greener tomorrow.

‘Small request’ sparks lifeline for vulnerable girls in Mara

Mugumu, Tanzania: What began as a simple, hopeful request at a medical camp has blossomed into a transformative, global initiative that is rewriting the futures of vulnerable girls in Mugumu, Mara Region.

When the Give a Future Foundation hosted one of its free medical camps in northern Tanzania, representatives from the Hope for Girls Centre approached the organizers with a modest question: “Would it be possible for our girls to attend?”

The response from Rishen Patel, founder of Delaware Investments and the Give a Future Foundation, was immediate and unconditional: “Bring everyone.”

That single moment marked the birth of a profound partnership. What started as healthcare outreach quickly evolved into a comprehensive support system for more than 100 girls who have fled, or are at high risk of, female genital mutilation (FGM), child marriage, and other systemic abuses.

The Hope for Girls Centre serves as a critical sanctuary, offering refuge, protection, and education to those escaping harmful traditional practices. Despite the profound trauma of their pasts, the girls remain fiercely focused on their futures, attending school, forging lifelong friendships, and reclaiming their agency.

Reflecting on his first visit to the shelter, Patel recalled how deeply he was moved by their spirit.

“When I first visited the center, what struck me wasn’t the hardship, it was the resilience of the girls,” Patel said.

“Despite everything they had been through, they were smiling, studying, dreaming, and planning their futures. I left knowing we had a responsibility to do more. What has amazed me most since then is how many people have stepped forward and asked the same question: ‘How can I help?’”

As word spread, the influx of girls seeking safety began to strain the center's limited resources. More than 100 girls were living in cramped, rented accommodations, making the need for a permanent, spacious, and sustainable sanctuary increasingly urgent.

The turning point came in 2025. During a trip to the Serengeti, Indian film icon and philanthropist Nagarjuna Akkineni learned about the center and asked to visit. Moved by the girls' courage and the staff's dedication, Nagarjuna immediately stepped up, pledging to cover the food expenses for all the girls at the center for an entire year.

But his commitment did not stop there. As discussions turned toward building a permanent home for the girls, Nagarjuna pledged significant financial backing to help turn that dream into reality.

This new, permanent campus is designed to be far more than just a shelter. It is envisioned as a holistic, self-sustaining community featuring modern residential dormitories, classrooms, vocational and skills-training workshops, a library, healthcare facilities, sports and recreation areas, and agricultural spaces to support long-term food security. It will be a place where young women can heal, learn, and cultivate the skills needed to build independent lives.

For Rhobi Samwelly, an FGM survivor and the visionary founder of Hope for Girls and Women in Tanzania, this upcoming milestone represents the culmination of a lifetime of advocacy and personal sacrifice.

“I was cut because when I was a girl, no safe house existed for me to run to. That pain is why I build safe houses today. I give thanks to Mapito Safari Camp Serengeti, Give a Future Foundation, Nagarjuna, and all who work for free and donate. Because of you, construction of the modern Serengeti Safe House Complex will start soon,” says Rhobi Samwelly, FGM Survivor & Founder, Hope for Girls and Women in Tanzania.

The momentum surrounding the project has ignited a true community movement. Among the key local supporters is the team at Mapito Safari Camp, whose staff regularly volunteers at the center. They provide hands-on mentorship, life skills, and practical vocational training to complement the girls' formal education.

What makes this project truly extraordinary is its collaborative spirit. It has united a diverse, global network of allies—from corporate leaders and international philanthropists to local community volunteers and wilderness camps—all bound by the shared conviction that every girl deserves a safe place to grow.

Today, what began as a simple “small request” in Mugumu has built a bridge to safety, dignity, and endless possibilities for the next generation of women in Tanzania.

This June, that belief arrives dressed in French linen, bringing the soul of a Parisian bakery and pastry shop to one of Pune's most beloved addresses, served with the precision and warmth Hyatt Regency is known for.

Whether you arrive at dawn for the first croissant of the day or slip in mid-afternoon for an éclair and an espresso, one thing is certain: you will leave having stolen a little piece of Paris for yourself.

Jio World Plaza Presents HONEST by Atul Kasbekar

A First-of-Its-Kind Immersive Exhibition Bringing Indian Cinema’s Finest Character Artists to Centre Stage

Mumbai, June, 2026: This June, Jio World Plaza and Atul Kasbekar come together to present HONEST: Portraits of Character, a first-of-its-kind immersive month-long photography exhibition that explores the intersection of portraiture, cinema and storytelling through a deeply intimate lens. On view from 5th June to 5th July 2026 at Jio World Plaza, BKC, the exhibition invites audiences into a striking visual study of presence, personality and the faces that have quietly shaped the landscape of Indian cinema.

The collaboration between Jio World Plaza and HONEST emerged from a shared belief that 'authenticity and luxury are intrinsically connected.’  In a space where luxury is increasingly shaped by personal resonance, perspective, and cultural context, Jio World Plaza found a meaningful synergy with HONEST, an exhibition that values rawness, individuality, and unfiltered human expression. Together, they create room for experiences that feel more intimate and grounded, even within the world of contemporary luxury.

“We are delighted to present HONEST: Portraits of Character by Atul Kasbekar at Jio World Plaza. What makes this exhibition unique is its commitment to authenticity. Atul’s portraits invite us to look beyond the familiar, shining a spotlight on some of India’s finest character artists through a powerful, intimate lens. At Jio World Plaza, we believe that luxury today is defined not only by what we acquire, but by the experiences that move, inspire and stay with us. HONEST embodies this idea beautifully, offering visitors an immersive journey through portraiture, cinema and storytelling that is both deeply personal and universally resonant,” shares a Jio World Plaza spokesperson.

Marking Atul Kasbekar’s first-ever portrait exhibition in a celebrated career spanning over 35 years, HONEST brings together 56 deeply intimate portraits of some of Indian cinema’s most revered artists. Featuring Boman Irani, Anupam Kher, Kalki Koechlin, Pankaj Tripathi, Neena Gupta and Naseeruddin Shah among others, HONEST invites viewers to look beyond the screen and into the soul. These are faces etched in public memory, yet here they are seen beyond performance and persona, revealing the quiet humanity behind the celebrity.

Speaking about the exhibition, Atul Kasbekar shares, “I didn’t want anyone to perform for the camera. I wanted the portraits to feel free of image-making or pretence, just honest, human and real. My hope is that people walk into the exhibition and see these familiar faces differently, not as characters or celebrities, but as individuals. And that the images stay with them even after they leave.”

Shot over nearly three years, the exhibition is a homage to character, not the characters these artists have portrayed on screen, but the character they embody as individuals. Presented in Kasbekar’s signature visual style, the portraits are minimal, unfiltered and emotionally resonant, stripped of performance, styling and dramatic construction. What remains is expression in its purest form: stillness, vulnerability, strength and humanity.

The idea for HONEST lies in a single, enduring question: how can someone feel so familiar to millions, yet remain personally unknown? That reflection became the emotional starting point for the series — a body of work centred around faces audiences have lived with on screen for years, but perhaps never paused to truly observe.

Rather than directing his subjects into character, Kasbekar approached each portrait through conversation, familiarity and trust, often spending long periods of time with each individual before photographing them. The result is a series of images that feel deeply personal and emotionally open portraits that reveal not actors performing for the camera, but people simply being present within it.

Presented across Levels 1 and 2 of Jio World Plaza, HONEST transforms the venue into an immersive cultural experience where photography, cinema and contemporary storytelling intersect, offering visitors a rare opportunity to engage with portraiture in a way that feels both deeply personal and universally familiar.

Mumbai Port Authority Plants 1,500 Trees on World Environment Day under Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam

Plantation drive held at Cotton Green and Sewri East to support green cover and public participation in environmental care

Mumbai Port Authority organised a tree plantation drive on World Environment Day 2026 under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative, reinforcing the message that caring for the environment begins with individual responsibility and collective action.

The plantation programme was organised by the Civil Engineering Department of Mumbai Port Authority at two locations. A total of 1,500 plantations were undertaken as part of the drive, including 500 trees at Ram Mandir, Cotton Green East, and 1,000 bamboo plants along the footpaths at Sewri Gadi Adda, below Atal Setu, Sewri East.

The first plantation activity was held at Ram Mandir, Cotton Green East, Mumbai 400033, in association with FICCI FLO. The second activity was held at Sewri Gadi Adda, below Atal Setu, Sewri East, Mumbai 400015, in association with the Director General of Shipping and Amazing Nautical Association.

The initiative carries a larger public message beyond plantation numbers. Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam encourages citizens to plant a tree in honour of their mother and, through that gesture, recognise the nurturing role of nature in everyday life. The drive also reflects Mumbai Port Authority’s effort to contribute to greener public spaces in areas connected with the port and the city.

Speaking on the initiative, Dr. P. N. Bahekar, Secretary, Mumbai Port Authority, said, “A tree planted in the name of one’s mother is not only a tribute, it is a promise to protect life, nurture nature and leave behind a healthier environment for the next generation. Mumbai Port Authority is proud to be part of Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam on World Environment Day. As a public institution deeply connected with Mumbai and its people, we believe that development and environmental care must move together. Every tree planted today is a small but meaningful step towards cleaner air, greener public spaces and a more responsible future.”

The bamboo plantation at Sewri East will add to the greenery along a key public movement corridor near Atal Setu, while the plantation at Cotton Green will support green cover in a port-linked urban area.

Mumbai Port Authority has been taking steps towards sustainable port operations and environmental care across its areas of work. The World Environment Day plantation drive reflects this commitment to cleaner, greener and more responsible development through participation by institutions, partner organisations and citizens.

How India’s Mangoes Ride Air India’s Long-Haul Network Across the World

On a humid evening in Mumbai, as Air India’s widebody aircraft prepare for their overnight departures to London, New York and Frankfurt, the cargo holds below the passenger cabins are filled with an unlikely but eagerly awaited traveller: boxes of carefully packed mangoes, their fragrance contained but unmistakable.

Each year, as India’s summer ripens, this ritual resumes. In 2026, the scale has been striking.

Between March and May 2026, Air India transported more than 3,300 tonnes of fresh produce across its network. Over 1,000 tonnes of that cargo consisted of mangoes, the fruit that occupies a near-mythic place in India’s culinary and cultural imagination, and an equally cherished one among diaspora communities abroad.

For those waiting in distant cities, the mango’s arrival is less a delivery than an event.

A season measured in tonnes

The surge unfolded steadily. In March, as the first consignments began to move, Air India carried 805 tonnes of fruits and vegetables. By April, at the peak of the harvest, that number had risen to 1,275 tonnes, before remaining strong in May at 1,233 tonnes.

Much of this volume traces back to India’s western belt, particularly the mango farms of Maharashtra and Gujarat, where the Alphonso and Kesar varieties are grown. Revered for their sweetness, texture and aroma, these mangoes command loyal followings from Dubai to New Jersey.

And it is Mumbai, with its proximity to this agricultural heartland, that becomes the season’s logistical nerve centre.

From the city’s cargo terminals, shipments fan outward across continents. During this three-month period, London Heathrow saw as much as 180 tonnes of weekly uplift from Mumbai during peak weeks. Frankfurt received around 40 tonnes, while Dubai, Newark and New York JFK each absorbed roughly 30 tonnes weekly.

Following the fruit

The routes themselves tell a story of migration, taste and memory.

In West Asian cities such as Dubai, Indian mangoes arrive at markets where familiarity runs deep. In London and New York, their appearance signals the start of a brief but intense retail window, where specialty grocers stack crates high and customers buy in bulk, often sending them onward again to friends and family.

From Delhi, Air India’s aircraft continue to carry perishables to cities as far-flung as San Francisco, Toronto, Paris, Hong Kong and Sydney, embedding Indian produce into global supply chains that are commercial in function, yet emotional in significance.

The airline today handles over 400,000 tonnes of cargo annually, making it India’s largest international cargo operator.

The infrastructure of freshness

Yet the journey of a mango from farm to overseas shelf is not merely about distance. It is about time and temperature.

Long before the aircraft doors close, the cold chain is already in motion. Produce arrives at airport terminals in refrigerated trucks, coordinated by IATA-approved agents. At origin, it is stored in temperature-controlled environments, typically maintained between 15°C and 25°C, before being loaded into specialised pallets and containers.

The process repeats itself after landing, where temperature-regulated handling continues until final delivery.

Over the past few years, Air India has invested in strengthening this infrastructure. Today, the airline operates cold-storage and active-container capabilities across 14 airports, including major hubs such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, London Heathrow, Frankfurt, and New York's JFK and Newark airports.

Supporting equipment, from cool dollies to thermal blankets, helps ensure temperature stability is maintained even during brief but critical moments on the tarmac.

These facilities are GDP-certified, aligning them with global standards for handling temperature-sensitive cargo.

“Transporting over 1,000 tonnes of mangoes in just three months reflects both the scale of demand and the robustness of our cold-chain processes,” said Ramesh Mamidala, Head of Cargo, Air India. “Perishables require meticulous handling, and our teams work closely with partners to maintain consistency and quality at every step.”

More than logistics

But to view this movement solely as an operational feat would be to miss its deeper resonance.

Each shipment carries more than produce alone. It carries seasonality, something increasingly rare in a globalised food economy, and a shared anticipation that bridges continents.

For members of the Indian diaspora, the first mango of the season often marks a return, however fleeting, to familiar rhythms. For others, it is an introduction to a fruit that has travelled thousands of miles but arrives with its character intact.

In cities such as London and New York, the mango season is fleeting, its peak lasting only a few weeks. Yet during that time, demand surges, shelves empty quickly, and conversations in homes, markets and online frequently return to one question: Have the mangoes arrived?

Shrinking distances

What Air India’s cargo numbers ultimately reveal is something larger than scale. They trace a seasonal artery between Indian farms and global tables, one that is as much about identity and memory as it is about commerce.

In the span of a single night’s flight, fruits harvested in western India reach kitchens half a world away, still fragrant and still evocative of summer.

It is a reminder that aviation does more than move people. It moves tastes, traditions and expectations, compressing distances not just geographically, but culturally.

And in the quiet belly of a long-haul aircraft, somewhere between Mumbai and London, summer travels, one box of mangoes at a time.

How Park Hyatt is helping preserve one of the world’s most renowned heritage sites

The collaboration with World Monuments Fund will support conservation training and heritage awareness initiatives at Angkor Archaeological Park.

Park Hyatt Siem Reap announced a collaboration with World Monuments Fund (WMF) designed to support long-term conservation training at Angkor Archaeological Park and deepen responsible guest engagement with one of the world’s most important cultural landscapes.

The Collaboration

The collaboration has two core elements:

  • Funding the Heritage Foreman-Training initiative through the Suzanne Deal Booth Institute for Heritage Preservation. This six-month program will equip 25 local foremen with the technical skills needed to care for Angkor’s historic temple complexes. Drawn from local communities in and around Siem Reap, the participants will be trained to serve as the custodians of Angkor, ensuring the highly specialized knowledge required for long-term conservation remains in Siem Reap and that the conservation of Angkor remains locally led in perpetuity.

  • Broadening awareness of the WMF’s heritage training initiatives by offering Park Hyatt Siem Reap guests exclusive, intimate-scale educational experiences in Angkor Archaeological Park. Led by WMF and their team of specialists, visits to active conservation sites at the 9th-century hilltop temple Phnom Bakheng will offer guests rare behind-the-scenes insight into the traditional craftsmanship, preservation techniques and complexities behind one of the world’s most-visited cultural heritage sites.

Leadership Comment

“Siem Reap is home to one of the world’s most extraordinary cultural treasures, and we are honored to support the important work World Monuments Fund has carried out at Angkor for decades,” said Himanshu Kapoor, General Manager of Park Hyatt Siem Reap. “We are excited to offer guests a unique opportunity to connect more deeply to Cambodia’s rich heritage through experiences that are both meaningful and memorable, while contributing to the preservation of Angkor for future generations.”

World Monuments Fund (WMF) has invested approximately $19.5 million in conservation projects across Cambodia. Much of this work has been carried out by Cambodian professionals who have received training through WMF-supported programmes.

Since the 1990s, the organisation’s training initiatives have supported more than 100 Cambodian conservation technicians annually. WMF has undertaken conservation work at sites including Phnom Bakheng, Angkor Wat, Preah Khan and Ta Som as part of its long-term involvement in heritage preservation at Angkor.

WMF Perspective

“For nearly four decades, WMF has worked alongside our Cambodian partners at Angkor to safeguard one of the world’s most important cultural landscapes while rebuilding the technical knowledge needed to sustain it,” said Bénédicte de Montlaur, President and CEO of World Monuments Fund. “At the heart of this effort is our long-standing training program, which equips Cambodian conservators with the skills to care for these monuments over the long term, ensuring that preservation is locally led and enduring. Support from Park Hyatt Siem Reap strengthens this work by connecting responsible tourism with hands-on conservation and expanding opportunities to train the next generation. This collaboration demonstrates how the private sector can play a vital role in protecting heritage across the region, ensuring that Angkor remains resilient and accessible for generations to come.

Marriott India Strengthens its Commitment to a Greener Future on World Environment Day 2026

June 2026, Friday: Marriott India proudly announced the successful achievement of its World Environment Day 2026 commitment to plant 125,000 trees across its extensive portfolio of over 200 hotels nationwide, further strengthening its long-standing commitment to sustainability, environmental stewardship, and community engagement.

Building upon the landmark success of 2025, when Marriott India achieved the milestone of planting 100,000 trees, this year's initiative was anchored in an enhanced "Four Trees Per Room" commitment, reflecting the company's continued efforts to create a meaningful and measurable environmental impact. The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from associates across the country, with 7,713 associates volunteering over 21,000 hours towards tree plantation and environmental conservation activities. Collectively, Marriott India's portfolio of over 30000 rooms contributed towards this ambitious goal, reinforcing the organization's belief that meaningful change is driven through collective action.

In collaboration with local authorities, environmental organizations, NGOs, and community partners, tree plantation drives were conducted across multiple cities and regions in India. The initiative focused on restoring green cover, supporting biodiversity, enhancing local ecosystems, and contributing towards long-term climate resilience.

"At Marriott India, sustainability is not simply an initiative—it is a responsibility that is deeply embedded in how we operate and engage with our communities. Following the achievement of planting 100,000 trees last year, we challenged ourselves to go even further through our Four Trees Per Room commitment. The enthusiastic participation of our associates and hotels across the country reflects our collective commitment to environmental stewardship. Together, we are creating a greener future while contributing meaningfully to the wellbeing of our communities and the planet," said Sanjay Gupta, Chairman, Marriott India Business Council.

JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu

In support of Marriott India’s commitment to planting one lakh twenty-five thousand trees across the country, JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu is proud to contribute through initiatives that reflect both environmental responsibility and community involvement.
As part of its ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship, the hotel undertook an extensive plantation drive, beginning with the planting of over 1,420 saplings across its premises. Extending its impact beyond the property, the initiative continued at Pushpa Narsee Park in Juhu, further contributing to the city's green cover and biodiversity. The hotel also donated more than 800 saplings to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), reinforcing its commitment to fostering a greener and more sustainable future for the community.

Building on the prestigious LEED Platinum certification - the highest distinction under the globally recognized green building rating system, JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu continues to champion sustainability through responsible and innovative operational practices. The hotel significantly reduces its environmental footprint through an in-house water bottling facility that recirculates over 5,000 reusable glass bottles daily, minimizing reliance on single-use plastics. Further advancing its sustainability goals, the property generates approximately 1,600 kWh of renewable energy each day through rooftop solar panels, operates a 500-kilogram-capacity organic waste converter to divert food waste from landfills, and utilizes refillable bath amenity dispensers to reduce plastic consumption. Additionally, its on-site sewage treatment plant enables treated water to be reused for landscape irrigation and washroom facilities, supporting efficient and responsible water management across the hotel.

Marriott India's commitment to sustainability extends beyond tree plantation initiatives. Across its hotels, the company continues to champion responsible practices including energy efficiency, water conservation, waste reduction, sustainable sourcing, and community-led environmental programs, creating a positive and lasting impact for future generations.

More Than a Grocery Store: Foodstories Launches Mumbai's Most Immersive Food Destination

The food lifestyle platform founded by Avni and Ashni Biyani debuts in Mumbai at Bandra, Hill road

Mumbai, India – Foodstories, the food lifestyle platform founded by Avni and Ashni Biyani, makes its Mumbai debut this June with immersive flagship destinations in Bandra and Lokhandwala, introducing a new kind of culinary and cultural experience for the modern Indian consumer.

Created at the intersection of food, wellbeing and community, Foodstories is not a traditional grocery store. It is a platform that brings together farmers, makers, artisans, producers, chefs and storytellers through curated products, experiences and everyday rituals.

Launching alongside the stores is the Foodstories mobile app and a Mumbai-based fulfilment ecosystem enabling deliveries across the city in under 60 minutes, extending the experience beyond the store.

At the heart of Foodstories is a simple belief: food, when sourced with intention and enjoyed with curiosity, has the power to nourish not only the body, but culture, connection and self-expression.

"At Foodstories, we believe food is one of the most powerful ways people express who they are," says Avni Biyani, Co-Founder."The choices we make every day shape our wellbeing, rituals and culture. We celebrate the farmers, producers, bakers and artisans behind every ingredient because understanding where food comes from changes how we experience it. Foodstories exists to make food more joyful, intentional and connected."

The Mumbai stores introduce a collection of original concepts including That Grocery Café, which brings ingredient stories from shelf to plate; That Bev Bar, focused on hydration, caffeination and creativity; and That Bake Shop, led by award-winning pastry educator Chef Dean Rodrigues, where baking becomes a live experience throughout the day.

Freshness remains central to the experience, with a fresh pasta bar by Chef Aabhas Mehrotra of Sorrentina fame, live spice grinding, freshly roasted nuts, made-to-order nut butters and a working flour mill created in collaboration with Two Brothers Organic Farms.

Guests can also explore The Tea Library, a dedicated tea discovery destination designed around origin, craft and contemporary tea rituals.

Foodstories is powered by a community of passionate specialists including bakers, farmers, chefs, water sommeliers and caviarologists, while also serving as a platform for emerging Indian food brands and producers.

Around the world, food destinations are becoming cultural destinations. If Los Angeles has Erewhon, Mumbai now has Foodstories — a new home for discovery, wellbeing and modern food culture.

"Mumbai is a city that has always embraced ambition, creativity and culture, and nowhere is that more visible than Bandra," says Ashni Biyani, Co-Founder."Foodstories was built for this consumer. We wanted to create a destination where discovery becomes part of everyday life; where buying ingredients can lead to a conversation with a maker, a tasting or an entirely new food experience. We're not simply opening stores in Mumbai. We're building a platform for modern food culture."

Foodstories allows customers to engage with the brand in-store, through dedicated relationship managers, online via its website and app, and through rapid delivery across Mumbai.

As food increasingly becomes a reflection of lifestyle and wellbeing, Foodstories is building a new category in India — one where food, culture, community and discovery come together under a single roof.

Designed for a generation that wants to live better, eat better and stay curious, Foodstories arrives in Mumbai starting with Bandra and soon launching in Lokhandwala, Andheri.

Each creation is thoughtfully composed to preserve the authenticity of the fruit, highlighting natural sweetness, acidity and aroma in a light, refreshing experience suited to the summer season in the capital.

June | Tropical Prelude

A luminous opening to the season, where tropical brightness meets refined indulgence.

  • Inspiration Passion Fruit Chocolate Gelato and Mango Sorbet: A vibrant pairing where tropical passion fruit meets the depth of chocolate. The creamy richness of cacao is lifted by sun-drenched mango sorbet, creating a bright, expressive contrast that captures the energy of early summer.

  • Inspiration Matcha Chocolate Gelato and Hawthorn Sorbet: Earthy matcha and refined chocolate form a grounding base, balanced by the gentle tartness of hawthorn sorbet. Carefully refined to remove bitterness, hawthorn introduces a delicate brightness that brings clarity and lift to the palate.

July | Peak Summer Abundance

At the heart of summer, Flavours deepen, soften, and harmonize.

  • 70% Guanaja Chocolate Gelato and Raspberry Sorbet: Intense dark chocolate is softened by the lively acidity of raspberry sorbet. The interplay between richness and freshness creates a composition that is both indulgent and refreshingly balanced.

  • Peach, Red Bean Gelato and Opalys White Chocolate Gelato: Silky white chocolate gelato balances the delicate sweetness of peach and red bean, evoking the gentle warmth of a summer afternoon breeze—smooth, comforting, and quietly elegant.

August | Late Summer Serenity

As summer gently softens into its final chapter, flavours become calmer, more contemplative.

  • 53% Hukambi Milk Chocolate Gelato and Grape Oolong Tea Sorbet: Creamy milk chocolate is paired with grape‑infused oolong sorbet. The notes of oolong tea and ripe grape evoke the sensation of a cool evening breeze in late summer.

  • Taro Ice Cream and Mandarin Jasmine Tea Sorbet: Velvety taro offers depth, while mandarin jasmine sorbet introduces citrus and floral notes. Together, they create a balanced combination of richness and lightness.

From the intensity of midsummer to the transition into late season, each pairing reflects the character of fruit at its peak.

At Opus Lounge, gelato and sorbet are also served in a handcrafted waffle cup, where warm crispness contrasts with icy textures. A selection of toppings allows for personalisation of each creation.

NUÈE Opens in Kalyani Nagar - Pune's Most Anticipated Fine-Dining Restaurant of the Year Has Arrived

Chef Pranav Vijay Sawant's obsessive pursuit of seasonal excellence, ingredient integrity and globally inspired cuisine - crafted into Pune's most elevated dining experience

Pune,  June 2026 - A restaurant does not open quietly when it arrives with this kind of conviction. NUÈE, Kalyani Nagar's newest fine-dining destination, launches today - and Pune's culinary world will not be the same.

By Chef Pranav Vijay Sawant and Thousand Pines Hospitality, NUÈE (derived from the French word new and bare") is not merely a restaurant. It is a declaration: that Pune deserves dining rooted in rigour, beauty and an uncompromising respect for the land.

NUÈE is built around a principle that the finest kitchens in the world have always held sacred: the ingredient is the idea. The menu is not fixed - it breathes with the seasons, evolving each week as the finest produce arrives from select organic farms in Uruli Kanchan. No two visits to NUÈE are the same. That is not an accident. It is the entire point.

In an era where restaurants curate appearances over substance, NUÈE quietly insists on the reverse. Every dish is an act of listening - to the season, to the soil, to the provenance of every ingredient that enters the kitchen.

At the helm is Chef Pranav Vijay Sawant, a graduate of the world's first and most prestigious hospitality institution - the École Hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), Switzerland, established 1893. His culinary journey has taken him through the street markets of Thailand, the spice trails of Southeast Asia, and deep into the ancestral recipe books of Maharashtra - a dual education that gives NUÈE's menu its rare sophistication.

Chef Pranav has previously managed over eight restaurants and two luxury resorts and has advised three Members of Parliament in New Delhi on hospitality operations. NUÈE is his most personal statement yet.

"NUÈE was created from a belief that food should remain connected to its source. Every ingredient has a story; every season has something unique to offer - and every dining experience should feel personal and authentic. Through menus that evolve every week, we want guests to discover new flavours while experiencing food that is honest, thoughtfully sourced and crafted with care." - Chef Pranav Vijay Sawant, Founder, Thousand Pines Hospitality.

NUÈE's kitchen is organised across four culinary pillars - Pan-Asian, Continental, Indian and Earthen & Tandoor - each executed with precision and a deep understanding of technique. The result is a menu that travels across continents while remaining firmly rooted in the seasons of the Deccan plateau.

The Pan-Asian chapter draws from NUÈE's coastal Goan sourcing relationships and the chef's years spent studying Southeast Asian culinary traditions - from the clean heat of Thai curries to the umami depth of Japanese-inflected broths. The Continental section features handmade pasta, rolled in-house daily, alongside artisan-style wood-fired pizza and a dry-aged steak programme that will quickly become Pune's benchmark.

The Indian chapter is where NUÈE's most intimate work lives - a quiet, painstaking revival of Maharashtrian recipes researched and refined by Chef Pranav, elevated to fine-dining presentation without losing an ounce of their soul. The Earthen & Tandoor section rounds the experience with clay-vessel cooking and live-fire technique that reconnects the urban diner to something viscerally, irreplaceably Indian.

NUÈE operates its own in-house maiterie - a daily kitchen ritual that separates it from every other restaurant in Pune. Cottage cheese is prepared fresh each morning from A2 milk, sourced from indigenous Indian breeds known for their superior nutritional profile and clean, full-cream character. The result is a paneer of a quality that commercial supply chains cannot replicate - pillowy in texture, milk-sweet at its centre, unmistakably alive.

Alongside it, organic tofu is pressed in-house daily from certified organic soybeans - silken in its set, delicate in flavour, and a world apart from the refrigerated industrial blocks that populate most restaurant kitchens. At NUÈE, tofu is not a substitute protein. It is a featured ingredient, treated with the same reverence as any other.

These are not talking points - they are structural commitments. Because at NUÈE, what arrives at the table is only as honest as what happens long before the plate is set.

All produce is sourced exclusively from select organic farms in Uruli Kanchan - a sourcing relationship built on trust, traceability and the belief that proximity to the origin of an ingredient is not a convenience, but a responsibility. The menu is dictated by what is available, not the reverse. When a particular herb is at its peak, it appears. When a variety of fish arrives from the Goan coast at its seasonal best, the kitchen responds. This is not constraint - it is the highest form of creative freedom.

NUÈE's bar is an extension of the kitchen's ethos. Cocktails and mocktails are composed using fresh seasonal fruits, florals and herbs - botanicals that change as the menu does. Nothing is pre-batched from syrup. The beverage offering is assembled tableside with the same attention and theatre that distinguishes the finest cocktail programmes in the world, presented not as performance but as craft.

General Manager Quote for World Environment Day 2026

World Environment Day reminds us that the path to a more sustainable future in aviation is complex and requires sustained effort over time. For Finnair, reducing emissions is at the core of our environmental work, with a clear focus on improving carbon efficiency and supporting the industry’s transition away from fossil fuels.

Progress requires a broad set of actions, from using sustainable aviation fuel and improving operational efficiency to reducing waste and applying circular economy principles across our operations. At the same time, we recognise that many of the solutions needed for deeper change, such as new technologies and fuels, are still developing, which makes collaboration across the industry essential.

As we continue connecting people and cultures around the world, we are committed to doing so responsibly, taking practical steps today while contributing to the longer-term transformation of aviation.
